The cost of food here has gone up drastically. This used to be my “go-to” for a reasonably priced hot lunch while I’m at work. It has more than doubled in cost, especially since they renovated. Where do they get off charging $1.85 for ONE bell pepper?

The redesign of the store makes shopping a little crazy to find items but the store is light and bright and I appreciate the shelves are not as high to reach items.

An amazing grocery store filled with eye appealing layout, surprising food specials, and huge delicatessen! Worth the few extra dollars for certain. The store is clean and the friendly knowledgeable staff complete this gem grocer!

This store has leaking fridges that create puddles of liquid. Josh, the store manager, has failed to communicate with me.The staff inactions speak louder than words.

I really like this store. The categories are very different. What I really like about the Safeway is that they provide highest quality products.

Filthy bathrooms, they never flush properly, they have a dirty bucket just under the sink, i literally saw a rat run through the produce and the workers just said ya, that happens. The produce is very hit or miss. For a high end grocer it's pretty unacceptable.

I find that Safeway is very expensive and they have good sources of food. I do enjoy their Dr. Pepper with cream soda last year's summer but, this year they got a new pop called Pepsi with wild cherry. I was sad that they did not have Dr. Pepper with cream soda at the store, but it's nice to try new pops for a change in the items. What I like about Safeway is that I have my Scene Card that helps me gives me points on my food even though I don't shop at Safeway anymore because the one in my area Newton was shut down so the closest one is in South Surrey I enjoy going there even though it is the best place to find good snacks there for the summertime, and on holidays last minute.

It is with great disappointment and a heavy heart that I must recount my recent encounter with the once-renowned Chinese food at Safeway in South Surrey. What was once considered a beacon of hope for quick and convenient Asian cuisine has devolved into an abysmal display of culinary negligence. Prepare yourself for a cautionary tale of flavors gone wrong, uninspired dishes, and a complete disregard for authentic Chinese cuisine.Let's start with the first sign of trouble: the aroma. As I walked into the store, I was immediately greeted by an unappetizing blend of stale oil and questionable spices, permeating the air with an unpleasant stench. It was a foreshadowing of the culinary catastrophe that awaited me.But the true horror lay in the taste—or rather, the lack thereof. Each dish I sampled seemed to be a mockery of Chinese cuisine, a sad attempt at replicating the flavors that once made Safeway's Chinese food so renowned. The sauces were watery and devoid of any complexity, reducing once-robust flavors to a dull, monotonous tang. The vegetables were limp and lifeless, devoid of the crispness and vibrancy that characterizes authentic Chinese stir-fries. And the meat, if one could call it that, was tough and flavorless, a sorry excuse for the succulence and tenderness that should accompany well-prepared dishes.I find it difficult to comprehend how a place that was once known for its delightful Chinese cuisine could fall so far from grace. It is evident that Safeway in South Surrey has abandoned any commitment to quality, authenticity, and customer satisfaction. What was once a beacon of hope has become a cautionary tale for all who seek a taste of genuine Chinese fare.If you have an appreciation for the rich tapestry of flavors that Chinese cuisine offers, I implore you to look elsewhere. Safeway's Chinese food in South Surrey is a mere shadow of its former glory—a sad reminder of what once was, but will likely never be again.

Super nice store. The cashier, I feel terrible for forgetting his name, gave my Mom $20 cashback in loonies to use for laundry at her apartment! Is that awesome or what?

It’s not a bad store and the new self-check machines are a vast improvement on the old ones. Like all grocery stores, you need to know your prices. The cashiers are friendly and generally efficient. The Scene loyalty program is a joke; I’ve yet to earn a single point since it took over from AirMiles and now shop elsewhere for many of my groceries.
