“I recently purchased a classic car in Gilroy and was unfamiliar with the area. Following the good reviews, I had Gilroy Automotive do the pre-sale inspection and they were incredibly helpful and patient to me in the process. They were easy to talk to and explained the rationale for why some things were more immediate versus others and the inspection itself was easy and thorough, as is the online system to review estimates and approve/decline work. I live a bit out in Monterey, but have three cars and had been looking for a good, honest, and reasonably priced mechanic. I plan to use them as my regular moving forward.”

“This was back in March 2025, but we had a wonderful experience. Tire shredded on the freeway and my daughter and her boyfriend were stuck 2 hours away. The wonderful workers here stayed past closing to fix all the tires for us after some issues with the tow, did so quickly and were amazingly priced. “Dixon& Son Tires has been around since God made dirt. That's a long time. They had good customer service then and they have managed to get a little better. They are polite, helpful, and professional. Dusty is the manager and a straight shooter. If it can be reasonably done he insures it. They're grubby because their work is grubby but they are conscientious when working on your vehicle. They are simply all around good people. Do I believe in them? Yep...I drive all the way from Hollister to deal with them. Knock on wood..... haven't had a bum trip yet.....”
“I had a flat on my horse trailer so went in 14 minutes before they closed. Several guys came out and jacked up the trailer, pulled off the tire, fixed it and put it back on. Fifteen minutes and 20 dollars later and I was on the road. It was like having a pit crew at Laguna Seca!! I always receive the best service there. Friendly staff. I highly recommend it.”

“I've been going to West Coast Auto for over 3 years now, consistently. I was recommended them through a relative a few years back and even another mechanic's shop before I first went there. It was probably the best advice I've ever been given when it comes to my car. I have an older vehicle, very high mileage, that I'm really attached to and a lot of things break or just need to be changed out due to wear over the years. The folks at West Coast Auto have never done me or my family, who now also take their vehicles there, wrong.
The manager, Carlos, takes the time to explain to you what exactly is wrong with the vehicle, even drawing out detailed images to explain what is going wrong and where. He also has gone out of his way to find parts that simply aren't available for order, checking multiple physical locations to dig around for parts that we simply can't find elsewhere. The mechanics there are very experienced and I've noticed pretty much no turnover over the past 3 or 4 years. Further, they can do pretty much everything for pretty much any vehicle as far as I can tell. They've also coordinated with me and other machine specialists when there's a big job such as a rebuild that I wanted to get out of the way so I wouldn't have to worry about it in the future when I might not be in the position to actually cover the cost.
They don't overcharge or try to convince you into doing things that aren't necessary, but if they see something else that's wrong, they'll point it out and show you exactly what it is they think needs to be done and explain why. The rates they charge are beyond reasonable and they generally work fast and get the job done quick as long as the parts needed are readily available. I've had a lot of issues with mechanics in the past, but these guys, never. I trust them with my vehicle, I highly recommend their shop to friends and people I meet who are having car issues. Seriously, if you live in the area, try them out if your vehicle's having problems.
They've worked on my cooling system, my engine, break system, suspension, and a bunch of other random issues this dear old car of mine has had and I've never had any of their work not work out.
One last thing, for a comparison. I took my vehicle for a series of oil leaks a few years back to one shop maybe 20 miles away from theirs. They wanted to charge me something like 3,000 dollars to fix the leaks--West Coast did it for far less even after they found something else unrelated to the leaks. The other place didn't even mention it.”

Their next appointment was at 7pm and we couldn't wait an entire day at Costco... Jose saved the day and took us in immediately and repaired our flat in 45 minutes! It would have been a super stressful situation looking for a repair shop Sunday morning without Jose's help. Highly recommend their great customer service!”
