“I didn't want to go to Merced, I didn't plan on going to Merced, but when a family emergency came up and I had to go, El Capitan hotel staff made it as pleasant experience as possible for me. The tv service was atrocious, taking 30-60 seconds to perform the action you asked it to. The clothes steamer in the room didn't work (usually not a big deal and I wouldn't normally notice but I had to dress nicely for a few days). The rooms were standard, adorned with a cute old-fashioned phone that is functional, and an old suitcase record player that (kinda) works. The staff does go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A café on one side that makes delicious expresso and a fancy diner-like restaurant on the other makes your hunger needs never far away.”

“It’s very standard for a more 6 in terms of luxury, but the rooms are clean and the staff was nice. We got in at 1am and felt safe while spending the night here if you are super noise sensitive be aware that this location is right next to a freeway so it’s pretty loud all night. But for the price you really can’t beat it & this is one of the best motel sixes I’ve stayed in before”
