“Lovely shop. Stopped in on a whim today and so glad we did. Brigette is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Looking forward to attending their sound healing sessions in the future!”
“4 Stars – Still One of My Favorite Spots, But This Visit Felt Different
I’ve always loved Winston Smith Books and have had great conversations with Winston himself in the past. He’s passionate about books and treats them with deep care—he even describes them as “old ladies and old men” and asks customers not to pull them by the spine to avoid damage.
However, during a recent visit with two friends, the atmosphere felt different. Winston seemed to hover a lot more than usual, and at one point, I was told not to touch a book unless I was going to buy it. That was a bit off-putting, especially since browsing is such a big part of the bookstore experience.
That said, every other visit I've had here has been amazing, and I truly respect how much love and effort goes into the store. I’m still rating it 4 stars and absolutely willing to update it to 5 if my next visit brings back the warmth and welcoming vibe I’ve come to know.”
“I enjoyed Rev Cherie when she was in Nashville and now I am enjoying her on line. She always give a terrific service and very positive and uplifting, just wonderful.”

“My favorite bookstore!! I visit here every chance I get when I come home to visit my family! Best of the best and you can’t beat their prices. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. I can browse and bookshop to my hearts content without any interruptions. I usually come home with 20 plus books! The best part is that you are helping support a wonderful cause. Highly recommend!!”
“I moved to the Auburn area from Sacramento and had attended CSA for ten years. FCSL is similar in concept to CSA, but much smaller in a historic church in the foothills. Being smaller everyone knows each other instantly. You will find a friendly and inviting atmosphere with many activities and classes available. Come check it out.”
