I came into this store after having a very frustrating and fruitless experience at the Auburn Home Depot. I was asked within five seconds of entering this store if I needed help. Told them I was looking for a plastic panel to cover a florescent light fixture. Gentleman not only showed me what I was looking for, but also helped me look through the different types they had so I picked out the right one, and even cut it for me without charging the cutting fee. I think it’s obvious where I will be shopping from now on.

Ace is always the best. Went in for a very specific nut and of course they had it. Wonderful staff

I have upper limb disabilities, and needed help at my Auburn, California Ace hardware store.
Sales associate, Namer, help me with my purchase of two LED lanterns.
He took them out of the box, made sure the batteries worked, put them back in the box, and then carried them to the front counter for me.
He was pleasant, professional, and very helpful with my disability. He's a great employee! Thank you, Auburn Ace hardware!

I, a first-time customer, was ignored by an employee named Thressa while looking for an item! Her and another employee were having a personal conversation and, when I asked for help, she only pointed vaguely in the direction of the item... I eventually found an older gentlemen who was helpful, but because of the initial rude encounter, I can only leave one star.

Better election than the old store
Prices comparable with that big box store on the other end. People working there are nice.
Could use a bit of training on paying attention to the customer VS chatting with fellow employee (not every time at checkout about 50% of the visits)
Otherwise its great .
P.S. take the lock off the bathrooms.

Buyer beware! I'm pretty sure that in-store purchases turn out just fine. But if you order from the internet could be a different situation. Part of it is probably my mistake for not reading all the fine print but I'm used to dealing with chain stores and not locally owned. The first time it happened to me was when I ordered some salt for my swimming pool and pre-bought it online. When I went to the store to pick it up I did not realize that I needed my driver's license to pick it up I had my order number and a printout of the order confirmation but they wouldn't let me have it without my driver's license. The second time was when I bought a part for my RV from one location and found out you could not return it to any Ace Hardware you had to take it back to the store that you bought it in this case it was a couple hours round trip for a 10-dollar Part. I tossed it in their trash and told them to have a nice day it wasn't worth my time in trouble to go to another town just to return it.
