Our flight was scheduled to arrive after the Avis office closed so we had to book a hotel room to spend the night and pay $45 for two Lyft rides. It would have been more convenient and much less costly to have had access to the car upon arrival (perhaps have a key locker with a code to access it?) The Avis counter agent just handed us the keys, there was no one in the lot to check out the car to us, nor inspect it when we returned it. The car itself was new, clean, and gassed up. We don't know if our $250 security deposit will be refunded.

Vehicle was not ready. I normally excuse late availability due to the variables that can occur. We received an upgrade which was a plus. 2 stars was due to a lost item. Small item, nonetheless, I offered to send a prepaid waybill to recover my item. I was told I had to return to the desk. I was already over 1000 miles away. Ridiculous

During rush hours, the wait is long but the employees try to be helpful once at the counter. At drop off make sure to fill out the slip with mileage, fuel, and time dropped off. If not, you will be charged for gas at 9.99 a gallon. And they are always busy, so take pictures of the car dash as proof of the gas and mileage, if you get charged for gas after leaving the key in the key box. <---- it happened to me.

I want to compliment Melissa Warren who works at the BFL airport Avis location. She is exceptional! I have a home in Bakersfield and fly there once or twice every month. Melissa goes above and beyond to help all customers. Very professional, kind, efficient, and well mannered! I’ve seen her process long lines where everyone was satisfied and happy - not easy with a lot of people! Melissa is a gem!

An awful experience with the staff and the vehicle. The vehicle was dirty on the outside, dead bugs on the windshield and bumper looked like they just passed a vacuum quickly, no floor mats and it’s winter season, and the vehcile had a large dent. Who wants to rent a car with a large dent. Asked for them to exchange the vehicle and it was a no. It was a waste of our Capital One Miles.

I was told the type of vehicle I reserved was unavailable because I had made a "ghost" reservation. Not even sure what that is? I was given a vehicle that did not meet my reservation and told nothing else was available even though the lot was full of other options. The staff at the BFL airport was unaccommodating and not helpful. I am seriously reconsidering which company I do business with in the future.

I rented from Meadows Field Airport a Chevy suburban with two front severely bald tires and one back tire had a chunk missing from it. The front desk associate at checkout was rude and not sympathetic to the issue at all, he kept saying I paid in advance and can’t get a refund, I had to keep saying I don’t want a refund I need a safe rental I can drive across country. I found out the tires were bald when as soon as I got in the SUV the low tire light came on telling me one of the rear tires are low. I drive to a tire store to get air in the tire and the gentlemen working at the tire store told me the two front tires are bald and it would not be safe to drive the vehicle especially across other states.I drove back to the airport car rental to tell the front desk associate I will need another rental that is safe to drive, the young unexperienced boy working the front desk told me the tires are not bald that he would drive it like that if it was his rental. I called customer Service I explained to them the situation they told me to take my rental to the Avis on Wible Rd that there is an SUV there waiting I can exchange it plus they told me I’d get $175.00 credit for my inconvenience. I drive to the other place which is not that close only to find out nothing was there waiting for me, they had no large SUV available and they could not help me. BTW I do not live in Bakersfield, Meadows Field Airport is the closest car rental place that had a large SUV available I had to drive an hour to the airport from my residence, I ended up taking the rental home. I found another Airport car rental place many hours away that exchange my rental. I also never did get that $175.00 credit from Avis, they lied.There is so much more to say but never again will I rent from Avis! My name is not Nico that’s my dog’s name.

I’ve rented a dozen cars from Avis in the last 5 months at airports using my debit card not having a return flight booked. I work for the airlines. I had all of my receipts to prove I used my debit card.When I went to the counter I handed over my DL & debit card immediately the manager said we don’t accept debit cards. ?. That’s obviously not true. He wanted a return flight. I was returning the car at another airport in SBP WHERE I WORK AT & LIVE. Why do I need a flight?? I even called Avis customer service everyone said yes we accept debit cards. The manager was so unhelpful & didn’t care about the inconvenience he was not renting me a car. I took an Uber to the airport expecting to leave with my rental car. I have never been so CONFUSED & FRUSTRATED. I will not use Avis the next time I need a car in Bakersfield. However my experience with Avis at the DENVER, CHARLOTTE, GREENVILLE, ATLANTA & LAS VEGAS AIRPORTS have all been great.

I would strongly discourage anyone from using this Avis location, especially if you have plans upon arrival. They frequently double-book cars or have no vehicles available. If you encounter issues with your rental, they might suggest switching the car at another location, but the one to the south won't allow it. I apologize, but I'm not inclined to spend my time resolving the exchange process. I needed a rental for an upcoming 8-month project near the airport, but dealing with Avis' logistics was too frustrating. I've decided to switch to a different rental company.

The car was severely damaged and there was no markings to say that it was documented —was concerned company would charge me. I’m paying for a rental in great condition and this is what I get—see picture; wouldn’t recommend them in the future

I had no problem when I picked up and returned the car. 5 minutes to pick it up and 1 minute to return it.The attendants are very kind and know their job very well.Highly recommend AVIS RENTAL CARS!!

Scam rental company. Can’t honor pick up times, they will NOT call you and let you know until you show up. They had 14 PEOPLE AHEAD OF US, it’s now been two hours after we were supposed to be leaving town, still no car. Contacted customer service, they told us the other Avis off Wible has cars and they would upgrade us for free, we were given a confirmation number. After an almost 30min drive to the other building, the man working tells us there is NOTHING he can do for us and won’t accept the confirmation number that we just got from customer service. SCAM SCAM SCAM.
