I recently found myself in the nightmare situation of having AC problems in Bakersfield in the middle of summer. Anyone who has lived here in the summer knows that a functioning AC system is an essential asset. I have a home warranty that I purchased at the beginning of the year just to be on the safe side. I immediately called them and got the run around with another service provider that was up-charging the warranty company which in turn passed those charges on to me. I won't get into the details of circus side show the warranty company put me through, but I will say they lost my business for life. They offered me a cash payout that wasn't anywhere close to covering a fraction of the repairs. I was referred to James AC by a friend of mine and immediately called them after seeing their Yelp rating. I was a bit skeptical when I saw that they only had five star ratings and a lot of them. That is almost unheard of for a service company of any kind. I left them a message and they promptly returned my phone call and set up an appointment for the following day to come out and give me an estimate. The estimate came in over a thousand dollars cheaper than the provider the warranty company sent out prior. I tried to get the warranty company to change the contract over to James AC, which is also a service provider in their network. They refused. This is where James AC gained a customer for life. Amy James is one of the most helpful and friendly people I have come across. For three days she battled the warranty company on my behalf even when it wasn't in her interest because she knew what they were doing was wrong. That is the level of professionalism and honesty you get when you go with James AC. I could tell immediately that they had the integrity you can only hope for when you are at the mercy of a service company to be fair and honest. Paul James and his team completed a full 5 ton system swap out in a single day. Their work was absolutely impeccable. Paul is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to AC systems. I shadowed him most of the day just because I wanted to gain some knowledge on AC systems and he could not have been more professional and accommodating. He kindly and enthusiastically answered all of my silly questions. After the work was done I was happy to have gained a new friend. He couldn't be a nicer guy. If you are looking for a fair, honest, friendly and local AC service provider, you absolutely will not find anyone better than James AC.

James has been a pleasure to work with. We had a heating issue during the winter and were able to schedule an appointment quickly. He was able to diagnose the issue and explain the cause plainly. The first service call fixed the issue and we didn't need a follow up. We also had them come out to perform a health check before summer, and they found an issue with refrigerant levels (confirmed by a home warranty service call). Honest and reliable!

I was recently told the worst - complete HVAC replacement, from another business. In my dealings with this other company there were definitely some red flags so I reached out to James Air. I spoke with Amy and she was friendly and helpful. She sent Paul out same day to inspect my unit. Paul saved me thousands of dollars with his diagnosis. He was honest and I couldn't be more appreciative. James Air has gained a life long customer.

This is the same company that installed the two HVAC units on my home fifteen years ago. One of the units stopped working. I called James and, because of a cancelled appointment, a repair person was there the next afternoon. The blower motor and a controller board had both gone bad. James removed the bad ones and ordered new components. James came back to install the replacement board and blower motor in four days. Certainly not super cheap, but fair and reasonable price for the parts and labor. HVAC unit is back to working great. Pleasant, professional, and responsive staff. Great communication. I actually had to cancel my appointment for a quote on replacing an air conditioner, but I wanted to leave a review regardless. The reason we called James Air Conditioning in the first place was because they serviced our other air conditioner years ago, and they were very frank and upfront about the unit and what needed to be done to it. They didn't try to upsell or scam us, and were just very polite and professional. When I called to make an appointment last week, Amy made sure to inform me that they were behind schedule due to a family emergency, but were trying their hardest to catch up. I really appreciated that, because some places don't feel the need to inform their customers of things like that. So! If anyone out there is looking for a responsible, HONEST company to help them with their air conditioner problems, I could not recommend James Air enough. You won't regret it!
