About Ventana Campground
Ventana Campground is a beautiful and nice campground located in a canyon in Big Sur, offering plenty of shade and beautiful trees. The campground features clean, level, and flat spots, some of which are literally next to a small creek or river that crosses the area. Sites include a nice fire-ring, though some are on a hill or require a climb up or down from the car. Parking spots can be shallow, fitting a small SUV but potentially not a full-sized truck, and parking for one car is typical. The facilities are very clean, including clean restrooms with flush toilets. The showers receive mixed reviews; they are pay showers but some had no hot water, with reports of freezing water in one women's restroom, though warm water comes out instantly in others and one men's shower had hot water. The campground also offers glamping with special bathrooms requiring key cards. Amenities are described as very basic. Check-in can be a little confusing if the kiosk is closed, as directions on the app aren't exactly clear, but the process is automatic since spots are picked ahead of time. The campground is super easy to get to from the main road, with directions everywhere, and it is very close to Pfeiffer Beach and local restaurants. It is considered too expensive for a campground by some, but it provides a really good experience. Visitors felt very safe, would stay again, and definitely recommend it, especially with friends. It is simply an amazing and idyllic location, offering a cozy and special experience with all the creature comforts needed while camping.

We spent one magical night in tent T11 in June of 2026. These glamping tents are perfect. Every need is considered. From the heated blankets to the fire pit the entire experience was truly dreamy. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Fantastic campground, stayed at site 49 which was one of the smaller sites. I would not recommend it if you have more than one tent. Super clean facilities and really love the air stream area with a fire pit, snacks and drinks! Will be back!

Great camping ground for last minute reservations when public park slots were fully booked. The best lots are the hike in ones of high numbers (60+) the other lots seem pretty close together/not secluded
