“Los Gatos and Saratoga. My two fav towns on the outskirts of San Jose. Last few times stayed in Gatos, this time was keen to switch to Saratoga. And when in Saratoga, best be Inn at Saratoga.
Why?
- great town w unique restaurants, shops, access to hills and parks (cyclists and trail runners - this is it)
- location is right on the Main Street, but a little tucked away so you don’t get traffic noise at night
- cute, sufficiently classed up, but not to the point where economics become nonsensical
- Spacious rooms (altho I think I was upgraded so perhaps biased)
- bar w happy hour and a bar tender that did well to make a great drink to enjoy on the porch right outside
- Free parking on premises
- quiet
What would I change?
- the ground floor / lobby area isn’t that big. The main highlight for me on the first floor was really the outside patio area that is adjacent to a river behind it. In the afternoon in the shade it feels great to be out there w a wine or even just working on your laptop in the shade w the sound of flowing water nearby.
Would return.”

“Absolutely loved our giant room with a king sized bed! The full length private balcony was a very relaxing place to kick back and enjoy the mountain air. The pool and main hall was still under renovation while we were there, but we had a great time just relaxing and enjoying the area. The staff was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay.”
“Attended a wedding here recently and it's a gorgeous place for an outdoor wedding! Staff was very responsive and went above and beyond when the contracted caterer no showed....yup no showed without warning! Sequoia staff found other restaurants to cater the food and they themselves set up and decorated all the tables. Awesome staff, highly recommend!”
“A pleasant, clean, and reasonably priced place to stay in Santa Cruz. Not a hotel full of amenities that you end up not using, but if you are looking for a spacious, clean and comfortable room, at a reasonable price, the Hitching Post should be high on your list. My room had a very comfortable king bed, large room, and a second room with a full kitchen. Shower was excellent, and a full walk in closet. All very clean and comfortable.”

“As part of a 12-person golf group, the combination of the Inn at Pasatiempo and Pasatiempo Golf Club was phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. The dinner at the Back Nine Bar and Grill was incredible. We will be back.”
“Next to a bunch of wide, high speed roads with heavy vehicular traffic. So the noise level is high and feels pretty unwelcome to walk from. However, this is definitely factored into the price as everything else about the motel is much better than the extremely low price normally gets.”

“Only giving it 4 stars because it's in a bit of a dodgy area. Otherwise it's very clean, the rooms were perfectly fine, although we did hear the traffic at night - but we had ear plugs so it didn't worry us. The chap who checked us in told us it was actually the smallest Hampton Inn in the USA. Some of the lower rooms do open up pretty much right into the breakfast area, so I imagine they could cop a bit of noise.”
“Really reasonably priced motel for whatnot has to offer. I enjoyed my suite with fireplace and jacuzzi tub for only 195 in the summer! When other places were charging 3-400 for just a regular room!”
“I checked in at about 9:30pm on a weeknight and the man at the front desk was so helpful and clear.
The room didn't smell funny, except for a cleaning product smell. Rooms were definitely old with things looking a bit tired, but the pillow and bed were plenty comfortable. Highway 9 was not too loud, either. It's nice that there is a little window in the bathroom that faces the green space behind the hotel.
Only gripe is that the walls seem very thin. The person in the other room was talking loudly and I could almost make out the words that they were saying, at times.
A suggestion is that they could add an outside key drop box. When I left in the morning, I rang the bell and had to wait a few minutes for somebody to answer.”

“Had an amazing stay this past weekend at our trip to Monterrey and Santa cruz only thing that sucks is that you can hear everything through the walls!! Which sucks but everything was good the bed was comfy breakfast wasn’t bad! And the staff and cleaning people were amazing will return when I go back to Santa Cruz also like how the parking is underground so you can go straight to you level without entering the lobby”

“Very polite and attendant from desk crew. Everyone took really good care of the breakfast bar. I love that they keep the train station open for you 24 hours. You don’t find many hotels that are that courteous. They do allow dogs for a small fee and they are very pet friendly almost all the rooms are near the pet potty area. They hosted three franchise and three franchises had a time. Housekeeping also came in clutch. I needed quarters for the laundry machine and Other the front desk forgot to get memorial day change the housekeeping was prepared lol.”
“Just got back from a quick trip to Los Gatos and stayed at the hotel on Santa Cruz Avenue. It was really lovely – the common areas were beautifully done. Sharice at the front desk was fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Parking was easy, which is a big plus. Honestly, the whole place felt really welcoming and quiet, a nice escape. Would definitely recommend!”

“The housekeepers are superstars! Our suite was very clean, and well stocked, and they made sure we were set for the night and were kind in the morning when we said hi :)The front desk staff was kind, and the girl running the desk in the morning was sweet and let me grab breakfast even though I showed up 5 min before they stopped serving! Lots of crispy bacon and good omelettes. The only nitpick I have is the remotes for the tv, they were a bit confusing and we couldn’t hook up our gaming system as there was no way to switch the hdmi channel”

“This is a beautiful place! My first time here exceeded expectations. I have stayed at similar lodges before in the area, just like little cabins but these grounds are very very well maintained. The owners lives on the property and takes really good care of the space. We brought firewood, but no worries because there is firewood here. The kitchen was perfect and had a regular sized petite refrigerator. I needed a little get -a-way and this was wonderful! Very quiet and peaceful. I stayed in the Maverick cabin and there was lots of space and many beds if you have friends and family. I will come back 100% and tell my other teachers friends. The owners is very kind!”
