“Beautiful, well-stocked bookstore.
Lots of nice gift ideas.
There are also many places to relax and read, as well as a Starbucks in the middle of the bookstore.”

“I wandered through the mall as usual to discover this amazing used bookstore on the second floor. I had no idea they'd moved in! I'm so excited to have found them. They have a great selection. Lots of leatherbound books, paperbacks, as well as fun collectibles. Great place.”

“Really great selection and super friendly owner. I unintentionally decided to start searching for the hardcover HP books and he was able to get me 2 of them at a very reasonable price, $12, and amazing condition. I’ll be circling back in a couple weeks to see if i find the last 3!

I also asked if he had some other titles and he personally went to where they would be and searched for them.”

“I mean it's a bookstore right near the beach...I don't need to say much! This was my daughter's and I last stop in California before we headed home and it was cute. It is a tiny tiny store, so I was shocked to see that they had such a collection, and the book sellers were friendly and helpful. We recommend!”

“This is a really clean and tidy antique store and it is run by two lovely ladies. There are multiple sellers with separate spaces but the overall management of it is beautifully done. They had a large collection of oil paintings and I bought a nice piece that was reasonably priced. There items that were overpriced but it seems every seller has a different pricing strategy. The owners are helpful but not pushy and make it a pleasant experience.”

“The shamash on my electric hanukkiah spontaneously shorted, so I needed to figure out if it required a rewire or if I just needed a new bulb.Yehi oh %&#$.My Mama suggested that I go to Shalom House (where she'd purchased it for me) and ask them for help. Hanukkiot aren't cheap, so I figured I would start with asking for help before replacing the whole thing.I walked in and while I don't think David, the owner, remembered me exactly (and to be fair, it'd probably been about 15 years since I'd last been in) he definitely knew who my mom was when I described her. We've been Shalom House customers for probably close to 30 years, so that's a lot of Mama's shopping.I showed David the issue, and he very matter-of-factly pointed out that the plug actually had two fuses in it. We took out the fried fuse, and suddenly the hanukkiah lit up. We were still without a shamash though, so he looked at me and said "You don't really want to buy a whole set of replacement bulbs, do you? You just need the one and it doesn't have to match? Give me a minute".He came back with a bulb which he then proceeded to screw into the center and it worked perfectly. I thanked him profusely and asked how much I owed him. He smiled, shook his head, and told me me "Happy Hanukkah. Now go light a hanukkiah".Mensches, the lot of them. And that, my friends, is why we adore this place.”

“I love this book store. They have good sales. Rotating inventory so I can come often and always find something new. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. They have a stamp program to earn a free book, or buy a reusable bag and get a percent off if you bring it in when you purchase books.
They also have a mix of some new books - popular ones that I've seen online. Totally recommend checking this place out.”

“I’m so happy that The Spiral Staircase wasn’t harmed in the recent fire! Jacqueline, is so kind and thoughtful. She saw the spiritual books that I brought all the way from my Ashram in India, and she kindly took them, knowing that these were one of a kind!?”

“September 21st is the date of the 9/11 memorial flag removal. Nearly 3,000 flags, placed annually at Pepperdine University to honor all the unfortunate victims on that dreadful day. Both American and International are represented; a solemn sight to behold. We volunteered for the removal, and it was quite a task. And other than the initial help from the Pepperdine Men's Basketball Team, at least until they had to return back to campus, average age of volunteers? 50 and over. And not as many of us as you might expect. But the minimal crew managed to complete our task; dismantling and wrapping, in just over 2 hours. We were scheduled for an estimated 3. One beautiful part of the day was the lack of any talk of Left or Right Wing Politics. Only a gathering of Americans of multiple backgrounds, coming together and unified in this sacred task.”

Their Brahma cafe is great also with a variety of foods and drinks. Candy is so friendly and eager to help the students and school staff in finding their every need.
