“Needed a room in calexico so decided to stay at the BW! I made online reservation and when I arrived Patty at front desk couldn’t find my reservation. She did her due diligence and finally found it but couldn’t use for some reason. She made a new reservation for me she checked me in at a discount for the inconvenience. She followed up with a phone call to let me know she had cancelled my other reservation. Thank you a Patty for going above and beyond! Making my stay that much more enjoyable.”

“Remembering that all of life is relative, this place was exceptional for the money.
Pleasant lady at the front desk.
The room was clean and the location was good for us.
The towels were a bit lacking and the curtain wouldn't shut all the way because of the rod but, all in all, very good!”

“It will take a certain kind of traveler to love the Don Juan Motel and Calexico in general, even if for a brief over-night stay. I am "that kind" as is my friend, meaning there is no place we won't find adventure, fun, beauty and meaning. When we cruised dt Calexico looking for the perfect place, Don Juan's ancient Spanish-tile, low-to-the-ground roof-line was IT. After ringing the bell, a long wait before a gaunt man emerged from the pit of darkness behind the guichet. My first question "is there a dentist around here?" (I could not cross the border) was responded to with a grin that showed a single tooth. We all laughed. Second question concerned a room with two beds. Key to Room 11 disclosed a small but enchantingly furnished room - thrift-store vintage - and an adjoining separate room with each its own comfy bed! We'd brought our own extras such as computer but all other needs were provided including coffee maker, TV, old-timey phone. Lest this turn into the great american novel, I will close by saying that if you're in good company with your own open mind and that of an other, you'll create a unique journey in humble surroundings. The wrap-around porch discretely displays fading old paintings of the 1930s, there probably since the motel was built. Somebody threw out old pink beach shells in the alley out back and we picked them all for our art.”
