I preferred to shop at this store, even though I live in Hayward. But now I don't go to this store. At the self-checkout, an employee made a vague comment to me, stating that I should scan items by placing them all on the belt. I asked where I could see this rule, because I used to use the handheld scanner and scan items in the cart. This sped up the process since I have children aged 1 and 3 with me. The employee couldn't answer where I could find this rule and I asked to speak to a manager. The self-checkout employee huffed but called one. That's how I met Rachel.
Rachel turned out to be some senior employee who couldn't explain where these rules were. When I asked if this was secret information or public, since these are rules for customers and therefore automatically public, she told me to move along as I had finished my shopping. Rachel looked unprofessional and unsure. She was also aggressive and foolish. My impression of the store was that I was an uninvited guest at a very rude host's house, who invited me in but then kicked me out for an unclear reason. Rachel, as the face of the store, made a terrible impression and seems more suited for a job as a bouncer in a cheap bar. She would do well at throwing out drunk people. Very sobering.

Never have I ever had such a bad cashier. They were rude when I was in line saying "Hello" as if they had hate towards me. The tone that they were talking to me made me feel as if I never used the digital coupon. I wouldn't be able to expect this at a Safeway that I always go to with friendly staff and always ask if I need help, but please speak with your cashiers about proper customer service adequacy.

Great place my go to better then sizzler. Not expensive healthy food . Talk to one of the cooks ,n told me that chicken is farm raised ,n they don't sell pork. Try salmon over rice good one.cajun shrimp, chicken n rib eye, dumplings chicken n veggies great place check it out tell them I sent you ?

This Safeway needs better policy communication with its staff. My husband (over 21) was asked for ID for his beer, and the cashier (Brenda) asked me for my ID even though I wasn't paying for the groceries. I didn't have ID with me or drink, and she tried to refuse checking out our groceries. She is the only cashier who asks for everyone's ID when my family and I shop; no other cashier has ever asked us for everyone's ID. I told her she was the only cashier who asks us this question, and she just rolled her eyes and completed our check out.

The only reason why I gave it one star is because that's the only way that you let me leave a review I need to complain about the security and the employees at that store they are so rude so judgmental I don't know what it's called but judgmental or no Deformation of character was definitely there The security guard was following me and my other 2 friends around probably just because of the way we looked. In my opinion I think that there's deputy no badge security guard needs to be put on a leash.
