“Great neighborhood market. Always has great prices and selection with friendly and helpful staff. Sounds like a generic review but they live up to it. I had a coupon that they did not accept and they honored it for a free turkey at Thanksgiving. It was very generous and unexpected!”
“Chad, Cam and Anthony were so amazingly helpful and patient. They all went out of their way to assist my senior friend and I. Don't know when I have experienced such kindness! My cashier was also very nice and patient. Love this store it is always clean, and stocked. Even the security guard greets with a smile.”
“Julie E. Was very helpful and check out and explaining the card app as a family of four doing our weekly grocery shopping it’s not my favorite task of the week but when we have a happy cashier, it gets everybody in a good mood”
“Peter and John are ALWAYS good to me and my wife. Down to earth good people and the younger boys Trustan and Aisland follow, respectful and they are always welcoming to my kids when I bring them in, they love walking up the block for snacks. Thank you gentlemen”
“Excellent wine tasting! They have very friendly staff who talked to us through the world of Argentinian wines. We could order glasses of different wines even if the bottle wasn't opened yet. Excellent service. The Chardonnay and White Zinfandel were the best we could find in here so far. We totally recommend this place if you look for good wine!”
“Starter Bros. Is my go to store. I can shop at a store that's closer to me but I prefer to go to Staters. The only disappointment is some of the cashier's don't great you or they might be having a bad day that they do not make you feel welcome. Other than that most everyone else is friendly and I that makes me feel pretty good. ?”
“A super pleasant experience every time we shop here. Friendly customers and staff...and the store is well stocked. Produce is fantastic and sales are good throughout the store.
#neighborhoodgrocery.”
“During a rush to catch our flight, hunger struck, leading us to Larry’s Deli. It was a serendipitous find! Larry, the heart and soul of the deli, crafted our sandwiches with his own hands, infusing each bite with passion and care. His dedication to both his business and the food was palpable, making our impromptu meal a memorable and delicious experience. Larry’s Deli is a gem worth discovering!”
“This market, though a lot smaller than Cardenas, does a lively business in Cat City - our demo is about 60% Hispanic, who have certain tastes and demands that major supermarket chains don't meet very well. For you other gringos I'll translate their sign: "Carniceria" means "butcher shop," "Panaderia" means "bakery," and "Cocina" means "kitchen." This is the closest market to me, I've been in dozens of times over the past six years and have never had a bad experience. PRODUCE: Walk in and turn left - because any grocery trip should always start with produce! Their prices for that are always, always good and their weekly specials are often amazing. Nothing organic, but it's not that kind of place. Finding fresh roasted peanuts in the shell can be nearly impossible at major supermarkets - they're almost always old - but at Hispanic markets the opposite is true as long as you're getting the kind in the produce area that are in clear plastics bags. Those not familiar with Mexican peanuts might at first think there's something wrong with them because the shells are covered with dark spots, but those are just char spots from roasting! For health reasons I'm not supposed to eat peanuts, but I've kept it pretty rare - and I still think they're far healthier than processed snacks like Doritos; so if you're going to be bad then be "less bad" and do your snack binge on the cheap as well. BAKERY: It's full service for cake ordering, etc. - they seem to make mainly Mexican sweet breads but other more typical items too, like donuts. Back when I cheated more often I had their chocolate donuts a few times, always fresh and good. Now, walk towards the east end of the store, past the registers and through the short narrow aisles of packaged, dairy, and frozen foods - you'll only get something from those out of convenience because it's all as high priced as at any other local mart. BUTCHER: It's always smelled good - no bad meat or strong fishy smells - so they pass the main test right off. Great friendly personal service and weekly specials. They don't sell any pastured meat/poultry so I've bought their meat rarely, but it was always good. KITCHEN: In the back they make tons of very good corn and flour tortillas daily, sold at prices that can't be beat, and have a restaurant area too - the menu's all in Spanish but you can order by the pictures on it. It pains me to say this, because I don't like Google, but right now you'd have to look at the over 100 reviews on Google to see how good this store actually is. Here on Yelp there are only a few so far, mostly ranters. Ignore them - there are good reasons that this store stays busy.”
“Love their frozen frosty freeze drinks! My favorite is mixing the Mountain Dew with Blue Raspberry. This is one of the few stores that maintains their machines. Too many have them inoperable, which is odd given how hot it gets here in the desert. Lots of lost sale opportunities, in my opinion.”
“Whatever the magic sauce is that Trader Joe’s has in choosing who they higher Need an award. I like shopping at the store very much. Today I left behind my wallet and was able to track my step back to it for which they found it held it and returned it to me.
Then ran into a friend outside, who reminded me to take a picture of every card in your wallet keep it in your album so if you’ll lose it, you know what it was in it”
