“I came in 12/18 in the morning with my son who is 6. He was acting up and making shopping hard, but the employee noticed and asked me if it was ok if he gave my son a “mission” to earn a free sticker, I said YES please! So he approached my son and told him if he could find buddy the elf who had been hiding he would get a free sticker, man now my son was calm and on his mission, at first he couldn’t find it but the employee gave him hints and he found it! He was so excited and once he got his sticker and we left he wouldn’t stop talking about how he found the elf!! I want to say THANK YOU to this employee who made this shopping trip in 511 a memorable one! Although I didn’t buy anything I will be back just because of this awesome job! I asked the name of the employee and he told me “Jake”. So Jake thank you for this awesome experience for my son. I will be back soon!!”

This was our second visit to The Dance Bag in Modesto, and I will never buy dance supplies online again. My daughter is in her second year of dancing, and every single time we’ve come in, we’ve felt genuinely welcomed and personally helped. No appointment, no rushing, no pressure. They take the time to properly fit her, explain things, and connect with her in a way that makes her feel comfortable and confident. They are truly exceptional with children, even very young ones.
The store itself is clean, beautifully organized, and thoughtfully laid out. They carry high-quality, trusted dance brands like Bloch and Capezio, and other styles and I was impressed with the variety of both narrow and wide foot shapes. I also just love the store’s overall vibe. Their gifts, trinkets, and accessories don’t feel like random add-ons or filler like most other stores but every item feels intentionally chosen and perfectly matched to the store’s clientele. It’s joyful, cohesive, and honestly just delightful to browse.
One thing that really matters to me is inclusivity as we are a mixed race family and to be frankly honest, ballet spaces in particular have not always felt welcoming or inclusive for me growing up in the dance world. But this store absolutely feels like a safe space for all. The ballerina dolls, ornaments, and stuffed animals reflect a range of skin tones and wasn’t just one narrow image of what a dancer looks like. That representation is noticed, felt, and deeply appreciated.
The Dance Bag is kind, inclusive, professional, and clearly run with heart. I’ll be coming here for as long as my daughter dances and we are in the area.”

“I had a wonderful experience at this store thanks to Petra, Maria, and the other team member. They were all incredibly kind, polite, and helpful. I also want to commend them on maintaining the store so clean and organized—it truly reflects their hard work and dedication.
That said, I do have some concerns for their safety given the visible homelessness in the surrounding area. As a suggestion, having additional male staff members or enhanced security measures could help ensure a safer environment for these hardworking employees.
Overall, the team here is fantastic, and I greatly appreciate the service they provide.

“I'll be attending an Indian wedding in 3 weeks and needed 3 outfits for the event. My friend recommended Shingar Emporium and although I was hesitant to drive all the way from Sacramento, I didn't find anything locally so I was hopeful I could here. Thank goodness for this shop! Their selection was way better than up here in Sac, the quality and designs were better too! And best of all they had a lot in my size to choose from. The owner was amazing and helped pick out styles and gave me advice and recommendations. He also was generous on the pricing and I walked away with 3 beautiful outfits. I'm extremely happy and will be recommending this shop to everyone!”

“Just like any other TJ Maxx, they have good and affordable options when luck is with you. What I mean by this, is that if you come on the right day you’ll be able to find multiple things you’ll like, but on a bad day you might not find much.
This recent trip, I was able to find 5 t-shirts I liked. However, as a man, there is very little options for us to shop for. There were 4 or 5 racks of clothes for men, so there isn’t a lot for us. I got lucky on my visit, but I believe this only occurs occasionally.
It would be nice to have more clothing options for men, although I doubt it would happen due to the store’s small size.”

“The salesperson Daniel was really nice and very helpful. He grabbed mine and my girlfriend’s shoe sizes and color that we wanted. We felt terrible about when he was tying our shoes to get a perfect fit. Then at the last minute, we decided on a different color. I felt like a jerk doing that to him, but I’m happy to say he did everything we asked for. He had a great attitude and he was really fast.”

They work together to find what you are looking for as well as give you suggestions on other options to try on. They all have such a warm, welcoming positive vibe. “Anything you want or need at this store for western wear. F they don’t have it in the store you can have it delivered to the store or to your home. Really helpful and nice staff inside the store. I love my boots. There is plenty of free and safe parking and ADA parking. The store is easy to locate in the Modesto Plaza Parkway. If you need your foot sized or have questions the staff is great. There is something for everyone in the family to get at this store. Their collection will f turquoise and silver jewelry is too much to choose from. Everything is simply adorable.”

“I went to Koh's over the weekend to look for pants and capris. I had trouble finding my size and asked a sales clerk a question. The sales clerk, Emily went out of her way to assist me. She not only answered my question, she took time to help me find my size and provided details on the various jeans. She carried a coversation with me and made me feel very comfortable. I really appreciate the excellent customer service I received. She made the experience perfect, I did not feel rushed in any way. I will definitely return to the Riverbank, Kohl's.
