“I didn’t stay overnight, but I stopped to admire the Fallon Hotel from the outside and it’s absolutely beautiful. The architecture is a perfect example of preserved Gold Rush–era design — brickwork, balconies, and details that look like they’ve been frozen in time. The building is in remarkable condition, a true highlight of the historic district. The little garden beside the hotel is charming too, adding color and life to the classic 1800s look. Even just passing by, it’s clear this is one of the gems of Columbia State Park.”

“This past weekend our friends and family booked 9 rooms for our wedding. I also reserved a suite with 2 rooms for my DJ and his mother. For starters reserved rooms were erased from the books and manager Dani had to come to the rescue on Friday. This first night, televisions did not work in 2 rooms. The next morning I showed up to pay for the suite I reserved. Surprise IT, amongst several other reservations had been erased. The guy at the counter played the I don't understand English card so I asked for Dani. He walked away yelling for Dani who was across the way putting out fires from the night before. She was dealing with a service tech and another gentleman when this counter guy started yelling at her and even physically pushed her. He told her to deal with me. I was soon informed the reservation I made a month in advance and confirmed the day before had been given away. Dani said someone erased the book. The counter guy, whom I assume is one of the owners had a oh well attitude and offered to put a roll away in a basic room. Not satisfactory, after a not so nice conversation I was given 2 rooms for the price of 1. To add insult to injury he attempted to over the charge me $20. To summarize the inadequate performance of this establishment: 9 rooms of which 2 more had to be compensated bringing the total to 11. 5 rooms had NO television. 2 rooms had NO HEAT. I will submit one positive note, Dani did make an effort to overcome the overwhelming chaos. She passed me a handwritten note apologizing for the mishap and said she was resigning the next day. I HOPE she did. This place makes our community LOOK BAD!!!”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our stay at Knowles Hill Bed & Breakfast was absolutely wonderful! The house is beautifully restored with so much character, and the rooms are spotless, cozy, and comfortable. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was absolutely delicious—freshly made and served with such care. The location is perfect, just a short walk from downtown Sonora, yet peaceful and relaxing. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this charming inn to anyone visiting the area!”

“Perfect location for everything in Murphys. A/C was great after hot days of wine tasting and nearby cafes meant no need to cook (even though we had a kitchen). Very quiet too”

“Very spacious room although a bit old and heater a bit dated. We got a suit with a living room and one bed room, easily could sleep 5 for prices that are just 1 queen bed else where. The service is good and very accommodating. Location good, right near the business area on the main road”

“I stayed here on my way to Yosemite. I wanted to be in the area since the fires slowed traffic down. The staff at this hotel was very nice and very accommodating. The rooms were very big but pretty standard for a best western. I do like their breakfastthat is complementary. I had a waffle with strawberries, sausage, and eggs.”

“Great place for a short getaway in the gold country.

Noteworthy details: Short driving distance to historic mining towns and forested activity areas. A great location for a group destination to meet up with friends. Relax by the pool while you plan exciting trips locally. The office staff are friendly and can give good suggestions on things to do in the area.”

“Safety: Need a key to enter, rooms are inside, cameras

Walkability: Probably less than a quarter of a mile from some fantastic tasting rooms and wonderful shops. I cannot recommend Four Winds Tastings and the Magical Emporium Shop enough, both of which are less than 5 minutes away.”

“I fell in love with this hotel because the cottages has everything you might need. It has a kitchen with stove refrigerator and dishwasher. All the plates, silverware and pots and pans. It's clean and quiet. I will most definitely come back again. Also when you stay here you are a block away from the antique stores. Love it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
