“Charming hotel. All of the rooms and the shared spaces are decorated in era appropriate style. There is no overnight staff on premise but there is a number to call for late arrival or any needs and the staff often call me before arrival to check on time.”

“This past weekend our friends and family booked 9 rooms for our wedding. I also reserved a suite with 2 rooms for my DJ and his mother. For starters reserved rooms were erased from the books and manager Dani had to come to the rescue on Friday. This first night, televisions did not work in 2 rooms. The next morning I showed up to pay for the suite I reserved. Surprise IT, amongst several other reservations had been erased. The guy at the counter played the I don't understand English card so I asked for Dani. He walked away yelling for Dani who was across the way putting out fires from the night before. She was dealing with a service tech and another gentleman when this counter guy started yelling at her and even physically pushed her. He told her to deal with me. I was soon informed the reservation I made a month in advance and confirmed the day before had been given away. Dani said someone erased the book. The counter guy, whom I assume is one of the owners had a oh well attitude and offered to put a roll away in a basic room. Not satisfactory, after a not so nice conversation I was given 2 rooms for the price of 1. To add insult to injury he attempted to over the charge me $20. To summarize the inadequate performance of this establishment: 9 rooms of which 2 more had to be compensated bringing the total to 11. 5 rooms had NO television. 2 rooms had NO HEAT. I will submit one positive note, Dani did make an effort to overcome the overwhelming chaos. She passed me a handwritten note apologizing for the mishap and said she was resigning the next day. I HOPE she did. This place makes our community LOOK BAD!!!”

“You can’t summarize how thoughtful and attentive to every detail are the hosts, especially, Rhonda she took the time to know everyone in my family to know what they liked and what they didn’t. The place is magical and drives you back in history! You feel like you are in a movie from the old days. The food spectacular. The addition of interacting with 6 cats, and 2 dogs outside was a huge plus to calm you down and disperse any stress.”

“Stayed in one of the historic rooms with my own toilet. Unfortunate bible in drawer. Noisy downstairs. Ate in restaurant.Nearby activities: Main Street (4 blocks) is very walkable for restaurants, hotels, beer tasting, wine tasting, and river access. Mercer Caverns is about 1 mile up hill.Safety: I always feel safe here, even walking alone at night.Walkability: Very walkable, but uneven pavement, missing sidewalks, elevation changes, stairs could be an issue for someone with mobility issues.Food & drinks: New food options over last 10 years. Lots of wine tasting. Leave the kids at home.”

“This historic hotel was everything I expected it to be. I came to experience some historical sites and The National Hotel stays true to its Gold rush era/Pioneer past.Rooms: The rooms are quaint. Wonderful vintage style of the 1850s gold rush era from the carpet to the wallpaper. Rooms all have bathrooms with shower. Beds are comfy and cozy with a teddy bear waiting to be hugged!!Nearby activities: There are plenty of antique and specialty shops along Main Street. I suggest bar hopping. You are close enough to a roadhouse across the street called The Rawhide which occasionally has live music on their stage.Walkability: The little town of Jamestown is walkable in five minutes. Everything is considered under the definition of walkability. ?Food & drinks: The National Hotel has a wonderful restaurant on the first floor with a beautiful front window to sit by. The salmon dinner was fabulous! The ambience and decor were very pleasant with lighting and flowers. Very romantic getaway for valentines day weekend!Noteworthy details: The staff were kind and knowledgeable. Our hostess for the evening "Rhonda"even gave me a brief history on the hotel and surrounding area as we walk to our room. Coffee and tea were available to us in the hallway which we enjoyed on the balcony looking over main street.”

“The Victoria Inn is an absolute gem. This is the best kept secret in the Sierra foothills. The staff is great. The rooms are super comfortable, and you’re within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in the bay area. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a little slice of heaven, or for that special romantic getaway. I’m going back.Nearby activities: Plenty of cool tasting rooms and great hangouts.”

“I had my husband's Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge. Everything turned out perfectly. The cost to rent the lodge was good. We had plenty of room to do everything we had planned.”

“No frills hotel. Beautiful area. First room was an ADA which wasn’t requested however the shower would not drain and began flooding the bathroom. We were able to move rooms and are thankful for the accommodating staff. Great big breakfast. All around a nice place. I do like the cookies. Sweet touch!”

“First time ever staying in the area. When we arrived the front desk person was very courteous. Informed us the hotel makes donuts each morning for guests and what type of donut we would and what time we would like them delivered. We inspected the room and found it to be very clean. With it being a suite, it was very spacious for the two of us.The hotel was quiet. We came and went several times, finally arriving late in the evening. Things were still quiet. The one downfall was the mattress, my wife found it to hard. I was fine with it. I usually wake up with hip and back pain. Not here.I would like to have access to free coffee like every other hotel we have stayed. A nice, hot cup of decaf with flavored creamers and a newspaper. That's how I like to relax.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return as well as recommend this hotel.”

“Please note that most of the reviews are several years old, particularly the 5 star ones. I'm guessing that the owners of the inn were once gracious but are now rude and offensive. From being attacked for drinking her son's "irreplaceable" beer which was kept in the guest accessible refrigerator along with sodas, water and wine to being told that check out time was 11am even though the roads were closed due to heavy snow and the stairs out of the house were iced over, I've never been so offended and upset. The house is surrounded by nature's beauty but desperately needs updating (think early 1990s). The gourmet breakfast consisted of casseroles and they ran out of coffee and creamer. Please, please, please look elsewhere for a place to stay!!!!Safety: Steep, hard to negotiate steps to get to the entrance.Food & drinks: DO NOT drink anything out of the small guest refrigerator in the sitting room.Noteworthy details: Incredibly rude owner”

“A cute old motel in a small town. The staff is very polite and helpful. We were even treated to a room with a hot tub at no extra charge. The old-fashioned flair is a bit old, but it suits this sleepy little town. Clean and cozy is the best description here. We felt good!Rooms: CozyFood & drinks: There are very good diners nearby with an excellent breakfast.”

“Perfect for what we needed for a couple of days: Clean quiet room with microwave Frig, TV and comfortable bed. Very polite accomodating staff. Older Route 66 like motel, but at least in our case we like staying in those types of motels as a nice break from the cookie cutter all look the same $250-$350/night rooms we normally tend to find and stay in on our roadtrips. We like mixing it up but wont stay in lowball substandard dirty accomodations.”

“Good localization, nice staff.Rooms: Rooms are ok. Unfortunately, bathroom was inaccurately cleaned (hairs in the bath, on the floor, on the walls). Apart from, everything was okFood & drinks: Free breakfast with quite good choice of products”

“The staff were lovely! The lighting in the room was a little challenging for little kiddos. Our kids are 3 and 5 years old and so at night we’re putting them to bed we like to have dim lighting. There were no lamps in the room…the only option was the overhead lighting (which was very bright) and if you turn that off then it’s really dark and couldn’t read books - no in between. If you have little kids I’d recommend bringing a small portable light with you!”

“I give little place 5 stars because of its charm and warm welcome. Is it a 5-star hotel? No, but there are so many other things. It is an old hotel with the feel of a boarding house of the old west. A great balcony above Main Street on the front of the building. And lots of places in the back to relax outside. Even a few porch swings and good shade. I met a friendy black kitty on the back porch one morning. The room is decent size, with everything you need. The wallmounted TV worked with a decent selection of channels. Bed was comfy. Fan works, heater works. Hot water is nice and hot, and I did not have to wait a long time for it either. Towels are soft, and pillows are fluffy. What more do you need? Breakfast, that's what! I recommend getting breakfast with the room. They provide a wonderful breakfast basket. And they drop it with you the night before. PERFECT. Quick, simple, already in your room. ( see photo). Plenty of options, plenty of food. Coffee maker in the room, above the mini fridge and microwave. Each room has a Private bathroom. The sink and vanity are in room. This is an old west kind of town, and this lil' gem of a hotel fits in here just right. Fair price for a place to rest my head”
