The Community Youth Center (CYC) is a pivotal nonprofit organization in the East Bay that offers an affordable and wide selection of sports and activities for youth. It provides a place for kids to try out different things like taekwondo, wrestling, soccer, dance, gymnastics, boxing, and cheer without a large cost or long-term commitment. Many families, including those from low-income backgrounds, find the reasonable prices essential and unmatched elsewhere. CYC is described as a true family. The staff and coaches are kind, helpful, and positive, making an effort to learn all members' names to address them personally. They care about members as a whole, fostering a supportive environment. The center also provides crucial resources beyond sports, including an academic center with tutoring and help with schoolwork, which has helped students significantly improve their grades. For many, CYC has been a vital distraction and support system, keeping youth on positive paths. The cheer program is particularly highlighted, with competitive teams, tumbling classes, strength conditioning, private lessons, open gyms, summer camps, and travel to competitions. The organization successfully pivoted during the Covid pandemic to continue serving kids. While the registration process is manual, families appreciate the abundance of classes that keep kids active and healthy. CYC continues to introduce new sports, enrichment classes, and fun events, making it a unique and invaluable community constant where children find their passion and a sense of belonging.
The taekwondo coach is amazing and they have good classes but the soccer coach always picks the same team captain and it’s always the best kids

Love this place. My kids get to try different sports pretty easily. Still waiting for basketball to open up. The new building is nice and it's nice parents can go inside again.
