“The Black Oak Facility is truly one of a kind. With the incredible support and tireless effort of Tracy, their onsite coordinator extraordinaire, we were able to bring our dream wedding to life. She was a standout — professional, responsive, and a joy to work with.

That said, the administrative side of the venue left something to be desired. The communication felt cold and corporate, lacking the warmth or personal touch we had hoped for during the planning process. It’s important to note that while the venue itself is stunning, you should be prepared to handle a lot of the planning logistics yourself. Aside from Tracy (who is hired separately), the venue primarily provides just the space.

In short: the setting is gorgeous, and if you’re organized and ready to take the reins — especially with the help of a fantastic coordinator like Tracy — you can absolutely make magic here.”

“Enjoyed Eden Vale for my wifes birthday. A wonderful, serene, and top notch place to stay. The massages were the best we ever had. The breakfast was fantastic, the room well appointed and comfortable. The hot tub was fantastic. My wife and I wished we could have stayed one more night and enjoy the grounds a bit more, especially out by the pond. A perfect place to just meditate and read a good book. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend Eden Vale for an anniversary or romantic getaway.”

“My partner and I explored this state park for the first time on Thursday. It's pretty spread out so there is a lot of walking if you do more than the museum but it's beautiful out here. If you come on a weekday there is likely going to be a field trip so I would recommend a weekend. There is a cafe in the park that we tried and enjoyed (see my review for the Argonaut Cafe) and the museum was interesting but just walking around the park was my favorite part since there was a lot to learn outside of the museum as well. I found this place more interesting than Sutter's Fort so I would check this place out if you are interested in the history of the gold rush.”

“We’ve been here a few times now. Each time we’ve received excellent wines, exceptional service, and always an outstanding view. We’ve been twice with Erin doing our pours and she is very attentive, personable and just friendly. She seems passionate about learning ( had a book open to learn about tasting notes, price range, and much more information to better her knowledge). She even recognized us during our second visit with her! We recommend this winery to all of our friends and have shared the David Girafd experience with friends who have brought more friends. Will come back as often as we can!”

“I had the perfect wedding at Newcastle Gardens. I got married in early November. Working with Matt and Jess was so easy. They both work very hard to give you a beautiful wedding. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. Jess did our floral arrangements, table decor and seating chart. When we first met to discuss what type of look I was going for, she had a lot of creative ideas and was highly collaborative. I ended up giving her a lot of creative leeway because I truly felt like she understood the look and vibe I wanted to create for my wedding. She over delivered. I might be biased, but my wedding looked so good! I was thrilled, I could not get over how gorgeous my flowers and the decor looked. Matt did our menu, and everything tasted fantastic. We did a very autumnal themed menu and his ideas were awesome. He really can cook anything. They also made sure that my groom and I had enough time to eat! My guests were salivating over everything that was served. The venue is BYOB, but they do provide that bartender. We had Abe and he was so friendly. The venue also provides a day of coordinator, we had Jordan, she was so personable and efficient. She got everyone where they were supposed to be, and I felt like she solved 1000 things before I even knew there was a potential issue. No one bothered me at my wedding thanks to her! My husband and I were able to just enjoy our celebration and each other. She even made us a dinner plate and brought it to our table! In case you couldn't tell by this review I am over the moon about my experience with Newcastle Gardens. Matt, Jess, Jordan and everyone there is worth their weight in gold.”

“Excellent place to stay, especially if you are planning on white water rafting. The food and staff were fantastic. It is a step up from tent camping but a great camping experience for the kids. Plus, there are showers and bathrooms that are well kept and clean.”

“My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights late April early May and we could not have been happier with the accommodations or the location. Our host were very hands on and took care of our every need. A delicious healthy breakfast was provided every morning to get us started. The Inn was centrally located to all of the restaurants and wineries in the area as well as being only 60 miles from South Lake Tahoe which was well worth the trip. To say the views from the pool area were breathtaking would be an understatement. We would definitely return here again.”

“Booked last minute. Couldn't find any availability online so I called the main line. Got a call back right away and booked the Wood room. We were the only people staying here. Some of the decor shown in the pictures on Yelp have been removed. It is a beautiful home and has a very comfortable vibe. Views are absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay here again”

“Located in the Sierra foothills of Auburn, The Ridge Golf Course offers a superior golfing experience. This 18-hole championship course combines natural beauty with rigorous play. The Ridge Golf Course boasts a par-71 layout that spans 6,734 yards, incorporating a variety of terrains. This course is the most challenging course in Placer County and still manages to be very enjoyable. Imagine well-manicured fairways, playable bunkers, plenty of trees for shade, nice tee boxes and smooth greens. The golf carts are equipped with GPS with a layout of holes with accurate calculated distances. I would recommend a beverage cart, due to the lack of drinking water on the course. This would be a great date activity. Start off by warming up at the driving range with a bucket of balls. If the date is going well, play 9 holes while getting to know each other better. “My little sister had her wedding here some hiccups with the wedding planner, but the location was beautiful and the rooms were nice. Great service food was cold, but the ambiance was great. Uber/Lyft from the venue are wildly expensive out of control of the venue just a heads up.”

“It's a family tradition now to go there every year. We book the camping spot each year right after we leave there. It's very family friendly with a lot of camping activities and good facilities. The restrooms and shower rooms are clean and spacious. It's right next to the American River with a good view and convenient to arrange a day trip on the water for rafting. The store is lovely and it carries almost everything you need for camping. Their souvenirs are cute too. You can even buy a small bottle of gold for kids :)”
