“Some of these reviews are way harsh, Tai. I came in twice yesterday for yarn, and the employees were friendly and helpful. They had a decent selection of the acrylic yarns I was looking for, and when perusing their fabrics and sewing supplies, their selection was good and well-organized. They have great deals through their website and app. While I'd rather support a small local business like Dharma in San Rafael, Joann's has its place, and I could shop there while Dharma was closed.”

“Very cute exhibits throughout the store of what can be made with specialty paper and great selection of paper too!

You can request your paper to be cut down to smaller dimensions if you are planning to travel with them - excellent customer service and would love to visit again.”

“I found exactly what I wanted with the help of a sales person. The quality of the fabric portfolio was great and it came with 2 large different zippered compartments.”

“I have been ordering from here for years. I love the selection, the customer service, and the help they provide when it comes to dyes. One of the coolest things they sell is Solarfast dyes! I'm blowing my mind doing CMYK process prints with the dye. I'm getting detail I couldn't get with screen printing. I spend thousands of dollars at Dharma. I love this shop!”

“Please note that the brick and mortar location is no longer a gallery. The owner has moved the gallery contents to his apartment up the street, which can be viewed by appointment. I was lucky enough to call and catch him while he was in to view his amazing collection. I was thoroughly impressed by his array of strange objects and curios. I do wish that he would open a better website (most of the photos on the current website are inoperable) - something on Instagram, Chairish, or 1st Dibs would really expand his clientele and make it more accessible. *UPDATE: The website works better on a computer browser than on a cell phone!*”

“If you’re looking for basically any art supply, this place will most likely have it. When I was looking for art supplies here, they had literally everything I was looking for. 5 stars. Will for sure be coming back here again sometime and I highly recommend this place for art supplies”

“Couldn’t believe these existed but was guided by the friendly and knowledgeable staff about the different models and walked away with another for my LAMY collection. If you need a great pen, this is the place!”

“An artist’s paradise. Paints, brushes, markers, pastels, canvas and frames. The custom frames section is very helpful for finding the right products for your artwork. I was very fortunate to find the right sized frame in their inventory. Their gift section is filled with interesting souvenirs and stickers.”

“Customer Service was TOP NOTCH!!! What can I say? I came in on a Saturday morning needing to buy a list of drawing supplies for my daughter’s art class and Chris came to the rescue to help me find everything. He made suggestions to substitute items with a different brand, so that I wouldn’t have to go to another store. What a great place to shop for art supplies!”

“Maido is my number-one destination for fountain pen inks and Japanese art & writing tools! Many times I've found items that otherwise are only available in Japan. They have a surprisingly huge selection of stationary, fine writing tools, art supplies and fun gifts and toys fit into their well-organized and relatively tiny space. They are directly across from the big Kinokuniya Bookstore on the second floor.”

“More of a knickknack store/gift shop than a true stationery store. Not as serious as, for example, Maido. So if you're looking for fountain pens, inks, and quality writing paper or notebooks, this is not the place you're looking for. This is more of a cute store for the casual shopper.”
