“The best, ( and only?) Ceramics store in the East Bay ! A true gem. Their selection is amazing.... So many glazes your head will spin. Always a great selection of materials and supplies. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They also do kiln firing services as well. If you need anything clay they either have it or can get it for you? ?”

“I always enjoy shopping at Flax, today was better than ever. I met Jane Andreasen, an amazing woman who manages the pens and pencil department. I happened to have pictures of each pen in my collection that needed refills. She immediately recognized each brand and model and knew the history of all of my pens, some 40 years old. Of course I purchased each refill she recommended and then began to look into other products she liked. We spent the most pleasant hour at her counter. I learned more about pens, ink and pencils than being an architect for 50 years.
If I were wealthy, I would buy this woman a store of her own to share her passion with the public. Thank you Flax, for having Jane manage a part of your store.

“Inkstone has been part of UCB culture since the 1970's. I used them throughout my professional practice. They offer supplies for artists, architects, and students with amazing variety and excellent service.”
“I stopped by today just to pick up a couple of supplies. I ended with everything I need and then some! Jim was such a wealth of knowledge and encouragement. His joy for his craft was contagious. I had such a pleasant trip to this shop, I’m definitely looking forward to returning! A quick stop turned into truly one of my most joyful shopping experiences of my life! Thanks Jim!”
“Super cute and well-themed kids art store. There were a lot more general kids toys and stuff compared to specifically art or stationery items. The colors were also not up my alley but seemed great for children. It is in a cute plaza and the owner was sweet!”
“Great place to take a stained glass class! We took both the one day beginner and multi week intermediate classes and learned so much. The studio was super helpful with rescheduling our last class that we missed in March 2020 and super understanding when we needed to stay an extra few minutes past close to finish and clean up. We love our projects, especially the intermediate class ones where we were able to sketch our own patterns.”
“Please note that the brick and mortar location is no longer a gallery. The owner has moved the gallery contents to his apartment up the street, which can be viewed by appointment. I was lucky enough to call and catch him while he was in to view his amazing collection. I was thoroughly impressed by his array of strange objects and curios. I do wish that he would open a better website (most of the photos on the current website are inoperable) - something on Instagram, Chairish, or 1st Dibs would really expand his clientele and make it more accessible. *UPDATE: The website works better on a computer browser than on a cell phone!*”
“Wonderful place where you can find all the tinsel you may need. I was looking for the perfect kind of ribbon in a particular shade that needed to match a large piece of artwork. The store attendant was extremely helpful and managed to find just what I was looking for! If you’re looking for a community feeling where you can still talk to the attendant who will be able to help you with a smile then that’s the place for you.”
“They almost always have what I'm looking for here. The store is well organized with an open floor layout these leaves lots of space, even when they're busy. Staff is always super kind and helpful.”
“Love Blick. Amazing amount of supplies and helpful staff, good location.

“Dope shop with great selection of spray paint, caps and markers. Awesome shop tees and hoodies, usually stop in once a week. Great dude running the spot, super helpful if you have any questions about paint and great part of the neighborhood.”
“Customer Service was TOP NOTCH!!! What can I say? I came in on a Saturday morning needing to buy a list of drawing supplies for my daughter’s art class and Chris came to the rescue to help me find everything. He made suggestions to substitute items with a different brand, so that I wouldn’t have to go to another store. What a great place to shop for art supplies!”
“A cool little place to get supplies, paint, paintbrushes, pins all kinds of different types of paper. Like, I said, it's a cool place. The the workers are out and more than willing to assist you to get all the supplies for the art class, he's taking.”
“Make sure you have some spare time while visiting. They have all sorts of reusable items. I really enjoyed rummaging through the buttons and treasure box of scrap jewelry.”

“Athena was one of the most personable and helpful sales associates I have ever met. Made the shopping experience feel so fun and she was great with our dog Olaf as well. I highly highly recommend this shop! Beautiful and timeless merchandise along with knowledgeable and friendly staff!”
“Katie is always so helpful friendly and welcoming whenever I come into this location (which is often because I do custom apparel) she will literally drop a task to help, her patience is impeccable and she’s always super quick on her feet. I don’t do reviews often but her customer service is AWESOME. She’s made my shoppping experience way less stressful on a super stressful day. 5 stars for Katie. ✨”
“An art supply store with many and various products for the production of artistic endeavors. I was able to find a lightweight sculpture concrete for a terra cotta tile replacement. Very good sage advice from the knowledgeable staff. Lots of eye candy for any artist at reasonable prices.”
