Staff were super rude and dismissive. Rolled their eyes and spoke passive aggressively when asked basic questions. Avoid this place if at all possible.

So when we picked up the Uhaul, we couldn't pull the seat up. My daughter sat at the end of the seat because she could reach the break or gas. We waited to the morning to look for a way to pull up the seat... nothing, but we were late so I had to put my purse behind my back so I could reach the pedals. My back is in really bad shape because of it. We couldn't take the Uhaul back because we were on a tight deadline for a job we were doing. I am handicap and this killed my back and now I have to make an appt with my doctor. I can drive regularly without a problem. Next problem, we couldn't adjust the mirrors, they were stuck, so we hade to lean a lot to be able to see next to us on both sides. So we made it through our job and went to put gas in the truck (It was about a 1/4 full when we picked it up). I put the nozzle in and after putting $8.00 in, it started pouring out. I changed pumps and the same thing. I don't know if it is clogged or not. I also got gas all over my hands and clothes. Now I know why were given it with low gas... You can't fill it up pass a 1/4 of the way full. I returned the truck, the guys were nice but all the said is "The bar must be missing under the seat to pull it up" and they said nothing when I told them about my back.. and as far as the gas - they said "oh sorry , we will look at it." I wouldn't use this truck. The license plate number is AE8515. It is dangerous to drive. I would think they would give me back a small refund for the issues, but they didn't.

Usually treated very well by U-Haul staff at charter oak. Professional and courteous! renting a storage unit there. Today needed to rent a truck. Made the reservation via call center last night. The app never seems to work for me. Prefer talking to humans anyway. Except for the one who rudely interrupted the gentleman who wasn’t assisting me when went to pick up the truck. Jeremy was loud, abrasive, and bossy. He had the nerve to try to argue with me that i made the reservation online. I just said i used the call center. Insisted i use the app on my phone to complete the transaction. But i had just removed the app & wasn’t going to put it back. It doesn’t work. So he tried to trick me into downloading it onto my phone by telling me i had to click on a link in a text he sent. He finally came clean that i don’t have to use the app, the website would be fine. And instead of asking me to log into my uhaul account he began trying to touch my phone and do it hisself. He needs to learn to communicate. He kept talking about the way the company is going by way of the app and i “have to use my phone”. For this method to work, i had to change some privacy settings i have set up. But their website was not cooperating. He finally decided to do it on his phone but didn’t have the decency to let me know that. He just proceeded in silence like i didn’t matter. Jeremy was argumentative, rude and didn’t care to work WITH me. He just wanted to bark orders and push his staff and me around. Well i didn’t let him and i wasn’t going to lower myself to his level and fight with him. I suspect he’s a male chauvinist brute because of how he proudly repeated that he has no women working for him (when no one even asked) and due to his behavior with me that was completely uncalled for. He didn’t need to be defensive with me because I’ve become a fan of U-Haul these past months. Instead he was blatantly offensive and out of line. I hope he was having an off day. But if that’s the way he always treats people… he needs to develop interpersonal communication skills. Its disrespectful demanding bulldozers like Jeremy that give U-Haul a bad name and reputation.

I had a hitch installed at this location. They installed a 2" hitch, when I had purchased a 1 and 1/4" hitch. They took my bumper off and didn't reinstall it correctly. I went back to get the hitch I ordered. The manager rudely told me 2" and 1 and 1.4" hitches were the same, but the 1 and 1/4" hitches have a sleeve. This is not true. I was in the store three times, the employees were kind, but the manager was demeaning every time I was in there. He is horrible to work with. The good news is that I got a hitch that is valued at twice what I paid for it.....and the manager won't correct it. I recommend you DO NOT go to this location.

Most equipment I’ve rented from this location has not been in good condition, you can tell that they don’t perform maintenance on their equipment. Last time I rented an utility trailer the right axle broke while I was hauling the trailer, the axle was rusted and in very bad shape.

Excellent customer service. Equipment in good working order. Facility clean. The only problem we had was using share 24/7. It's possible it was my phone. ....don't know for sure. I recommend this location.

Absolutely avoid this place! As you can see from other reviewers, this location is overcharging people! My original reservation for an auto transport was for $334 and they charged my husband $680 when he picked it up. Called this location directly and they would not fix the error and were extremely rude! I called usual 1800 number and they saw that I was overcharged and are going to refund me. Do not be taken advantage by this location!!!

Long story short - GM (Jeremy) is dismissive and rude, is not interested in solving problems, and constantly fails to meet his own commitments to follow-up.I really thought U-Haul was the place to go for trailer hitches. However, when I had mine installed, the receiver had a distinct angle downward. I noticed it upon pickup, but I was first told I was imagining things, and that it's parallel/straight. Then, when I confirmed at home that it was, indeed, angled downward (with a level), I took it back the next day. This time, they acknowledged that there was a downward angle to the hitch but told me it was normal. Of course it's not normal. I called and spoke to the GM of the location, and he asked that I come down again so he could look at it. When I came down, he was pretty dismissive, took 1 picture, and told me he would follow up either later that day (Friday) or Monday. No call Friday, no call Monday. When I called Tuesday evening after again receiving no call, I was told he would call me Wed. When it got to be later in the day Wed and no call, I called customer service. They reached the GM, and he told them he would call me in 30 minutes. Again, no call. Then I started escalating the issue. After holding for quite a while, I received some erroneous information on who to talk to next (3rd call that same day), and the next customer service rep (4th call) just transferred me back to the GM again. He said just bring it in and he'll take it off and refund. I don't want a refund, I want a solution and that GM is not interested in finding one.

I used to work in the customer service industry and I hate to say it but it sucks. You deal with rude people for little pay and benefits. I honestly don't expect much when I go to businesses because I totally get that people are human and they can't fake a persona all the time. With that being said it's an awesome feeling when you meet someone and you just know they're being genuine and real. Jeremy was solid. Respectful, cool and extremely competent in the job role. Thanks again Jeremy!

Start off with a shout out to the helpful and professional staff at this location. We went here on multiple occasions and every single time we were greeted by staff and they answered all of our questions. This particular U-haul was very accommodating. A couple of notes to help the consumer, first off ask for and keep your receipt for any boxes you purchase. If you have any left over and want to return them, YOU MUST HAVE THE RECIEPT. Secondly, when renting a truck do not be fooled by 3-4 bedroom house fits in the biggest truck, 26' footer. Not even close! We had barely a 2 bedroom condo, with almost zero furniture and a moderately filled garage (toolbox, misc crap, etc) and we packed it 100% full!!! Folks I'm talking tetrus full, you couldn't slip a credit card into it after we were done. And fuel mileage, well lets just say going down hill with a tail wind it got between 5 to 6.5 mpg at 65mph. We putted and it guzzled the petro. I'm not complaining but we were told it gets 15mpg, um, not even close. And on the return trip we were empty and going the same speeds but had some wind and we were getting 5 to 5.5 mpg. It has negative drag coefficient. Just factor this into your move expense. On the subject of the truck costs, with all the folks leaving Kalifornia by the droves, there are smoking deals on round trip costs verses one way. Originally we were quoted $1300.00 one way to a location 250 miles away. Then we found out they are desperate to get trucks back to this state and did a round trip for 475, four days and 650 miles with a hand cart/dolly. Factor fuel costs and this was still a considerably better deal. We needed the truck for an additional day which cost 39 dollars more. Said and done it worked out, and the staff was great at Charter Oak u-haul.
