“A plant lover’s temptation zone –this nursery has a well-curated selection of outdoor plants and staff who are genuinely helpful. Spotting a rare Hoya felt like finding a green treasure. Of course, we ended up picking more plants than we could reasonably carry, and the staff kindly offered us a tray. Everything looked healthy and well cared for. And the fact that it’s an easy walk from our place? That’s both convenient and dangerously inviting.
Safe to say, we’ll be back for leafy additions soon.”

“- Virtual event: Rosewood Medicinal Native Garden, a talk by Radhika Thekkath - This talk will feature an in-depth visit to the Rosewood Medicinal Native Garden, one of the gardens on the 2021 Going Native Garden Tour. Come on a tour to a suburban garden stocked with native plants valued for their medicinal value. The Rosewood Palo Alto garden is about 12 years old, converted from non-native grass to native plant areas. The garden features a pond with waterfall and bathing area for birds and wildlife, a native pollinator meadow, edible fruits, and a compost area. The tour will be followed by a question and answer session with the garden owner. This talk is part of the 2021 Going Native Garden Tour, which started in April, and is providing virtual tours throughout the year. Radhika Thekkath is a retired computer scientist who has been gardening with native plants and has been an active member of our Chapter for over ten years. She recently returned to California after a three year stay in Washington state. Her more recent work includes active forestry management and stewardship as well as sustainable building with cob and straw bale. “This Walmart is a relatively large Walmart in the South Bay! Some other Walmarts are super small, like ordinary supermarkets, but this one is a super center of Walmart. It sells freshly fried chicken strips, fried chicken legs, French fries, spring rolls... and even provides hot food! So if you don’t want to spend too much money eating at restaurants while traveling, this Walmart is a great choice! Only Walmart Supercenters provide hot food!
There are many people who look like illegal immigrants in the parking lot selling fruits and other products, but it doesn't make people feel unsafe.
I have been to this store several times before and I think it is much cleaner now than before~”

“Had the opportunity of visiting Home Depot to obtain moving supplies to accommodate a move from one apartment to the next. They had everything we need. Sturdy boxes and plastic bins, Bubble wrap of varying sizes, old towels and sponges, foam wrappers, different size permanent markers, printed labels, packing paper, box cutter, heavy-duty packing tape and dispensers, scissors and so much more to facilitate a move! We ended up with 61 boxes plus a couple suitcases. Reasonably priced items, all located in the packing aisle so they were easy to locate. And more importantly, we could get extra items delivered quickly when we realized we had not purchased enough boxes. Staff was friendly and helpful; making recommendations about the suitability of boxes etc. A good experience at a highly stressful time.”

“Today I discovered that the best time to make returns is early in the morning, but the parking lot is very crowded with trucks. The staff is always friendly, except for the cashier who overcharged me today. She was not very humorous and looked unhappy. Apart from that, I have never had any issues here. I often visit and browse, but rarely buy anything. I once got a Christmas tree from the floor for only $20 and it was nice. This is a typical HD store, busy in the morning with people getting their supplies for the day.”

“Super helpful and knowledgeable employees. An employee helped us picked the right fruit tree and another one helped load it in our SUV. They sell Dave Wilson fruit trees. They are worth the price as the fruits are sweet and trees are resistant to disease. They have a 1 year warranty on their plants!
I would buy fruit trees again from Summerwind instead of big box stores!!”
