I called the building’s leasing office to arrange a tour of a two-bedroom unit. They told me to come by at a certain time and said they’d meet me there. However, I showed up at the appointed time, and no one answered my calls, they all went straight to voicemail. The leasing office was completely empty, and I waited there for about 20 minutes, but nobody ever showed up or even returned. No one’s picking up the phone, and the office is just silent.
I want to write this down to give them a one-star review because I’m really frustrated. Please make it sound firm and to the point.

I lived here over 3 years (moved out 2022) and in general, i enjoyed my unit - quite (back side toward parking entrance so not a lot of people coming in and out), modern aesthetics, spacious 2 bedroom with nice size closets, etc. my neighbors were also friendly but kept to themselves... not nosey karens, which i really appreciated.
during my time there, i had 3 new managers (Zak was the original one and he was great) and from memory, I think 2 new owners, so it definitely was messy any time u needed anything. Missing mail or package? good luck. Have a question? No one is in the office and they will walk past you with no nod, no smile, no acknowledgement of any kind.
what i did NOT enjoy was that when i moved in, the main kitchen sink made horrible noise when you turned on the water, so their fix was a plastic zip tie on the water spray hose/handle. ugly and quite annoying BUT it did fix the noise. I was told it would be replaced as soon as they were able to get their hands on it (backorder). 6 months went by, 8 months, and almost a year later - i followed up AGAIN and they told me they still did not have one in hand as those particular ones were discontinued. truthfully i don't know how that is even an answer - how is that my problem? get another style then! i told the maintenance guy that the next unit that empties out, they better swap it with me since i have been paying rent for almost a year (i was so pissed off w the lack of follow through and the lies!) ...well they finally did took off the spray hose fr another unit and fixed mine. Zip tie finally gone!
its not a broken pipe, or something horrific like that, i also pay 120% of their rate due to my payrange & feels like a slap in the face to live with a ziptie as a fix seems rediculous to me,
the washer and dryer is pretty small and very low water. in addition, it would often snag my blouses and after reporting it many times, i just started hand washing my light blouses to hang dry. because it was never swapped out or replaced.
There are no assigned parking spot so some days you are on the 2nd floor, other days on the 5th…and good luck remembering and lugging your groceries around. Also many guests will enter and park so it’s usually very packed.
when i finally left, i was expecting most of my deposit back ($3000) but a month and half later, the deposit refund app told me i would be receiving $300+. such a rip off! yes theres minor wear and tear but there is NO damage, NO broken racks, NO BROKEN apliances or hinges or anything and i also had a cleaner come by to do a once over. i was charged for repainting - i lived there over 3 years, of course theres minor mars and dings that needs to be repainted but i lived there 3 plus years! So they up charge and make up charges. I was charged $250 for trash removal - i forgot one single bag of (to be donated) clothes behind. It was not like i up and left the place. it’s so ridiculous.
all and all, it was quiet and a nice unit but their business practices really suggests greed and how they skimp on some basic amenities and upkeep of the place really gives me pause - especially at premium rates

TLDR: Great space, clean, responsive maintenance, decent safety, decent package lockers, would recommend
I’ve lived here for almost 4 years now and have absolutely loved it. The management is great. Whenever I submit a maintenance request, it’s fulfilled in a reasonable couple days since submission.
The security is a decent balance of safe and user friendly (we use Latch to unlock our doors and garage). I occasionally hear of/experience mishaps in the package lockers, however I get packages regularly and packages are only misplaced 1/100 times maybe and it’s generally due to delivery people rather than management.
The area is clean, I haven’t had any bug problems. I use the apartment gym daily and I see the cleaning people going through cleaning regularly.
This apartment feels more like a nice hotel than a home sometimes, in the best way.
I really wanted to move just to shake things up but after searching hard for another apartment, I just couldn’t find another with the same reputation, cleanliness, price, and walking distance to so much (boba, bart, mall, Safeway, target, 99ranch, savers, fitness19, etc)
I 1000% recommend living here.

Please be aware of this place while moving out. Had an inspection while moving out in my presence, all went well. After moving out, I suddenly received an email stating that the stove's glass top was damaged, along with a picture taken from a little distance that showed some white, paint-like smearing on top. I asked for a top-view picture. Never got one. Took away my security deposit, sent out that I need to pay for damages?. Lived there for over six years, had several inspections, replaced the washer, dishwasher, and never did I use any service for the stove's top. Clearly, something is going on.

The Aster Leasing Team made getting my new apartment a breeze! They were super friendly, quick to respond, and really listened to what I needed. The whole process was smooth and stress-free. Love my new place and can’t recommend them enough! Thanks, Aster team and Jamera for the wonderful help!

This community is very nice. It’s safe, and the office staff is always very helpful. The maintenance is always on time.

I've loved living at Aster for the last five years, the building is very comfortable and the location combined with the amenities has been very nice. The staff is also very nice and quickly addressed any problem that arose. The continued rent increases made it difficult to stay, but I and my family would have stayed longer if we could.

We moved here at the start of April and May it’s been a great experience working with Jamera and the Aster Team. During the move in process they helped a lot with explaining certain things clearly and aided us in finding our new home.
Maintenance is incredible! Every time we’ve ever had a maintenance request it’s fulfilled every time in a matter of hours and or if put in at night it’s done by the next day.
As a renter before this has been one of the most solid places I’ve moved too. I’ve seen the negative reviews and I honestly feel like theres a lot of user error and not actually understanding what or how apartment complexes work.. We moved in as a family of three, the units are beautiful and everyone in the building is pretty peaceful and kind.
We’re looking forward to moving into their bigger units coming up when our lease renews

I lived here for 2 years and originally planned to stay longer, but the rent increase and poor management made leaving an easy choice. The lease renewal process was incredibly frustrating. Management overestimated my income by ~$5,000, dismissed my attempts to explain my actual pay, and quoted me the highest rent tiers. I now suspect I’ve been overpaying the entire time I lived here.
Utilities were another headache, I regularly saw duplicate charges and couldn’t get a proper response about this.
Communication is terrible. The staff member I would interact with was often condescending, dismissive, or unhelpful. At one point I called and someone on the phone didn’t even know which property they were at.
Fire alarm testing is loud and disruptive, lasting hours with little to no warning. It’s impossible to work from home or host guests, and the lack of clear communication only made it worse.
Even move-out was frustrating. I left something behind, followed up multiple times, and they did not check the spot I specifically mentioned. By the time I came to get it, it was gone. I received $0 of my deposit back and was even charged extra, something I’ve never experienced as a responsible tenant. I thought about disputing it, but after how I was dismissed over literally trying to convince them of my salary, I knew it would be a waste of time and a lost battle.
This place used to be better, but it’s gone downhill. I liked my apartment, but dealing with the uncaring, dismissive management made the experience exhausting. It’s overpriced and poorly run.
I’m not interested in speaking further with management. I was repeatedly dismissed when I spoke about my concerns. Based on that experience, I don’t believe anything would change now.

I scheduled an appointment for an in person tour today at 1pm but arrived to a dark and locked leasing office. I double checked and saw the office was supposed to be open from 10am-530pm according to the front sign and website information. I attempted to call the number attached to my appointment confirmation email and the website listed number but no response from either. After waiting for 30 minutes, I decided to leave. Not sure if this was a one off, but a very poor first impression of management.

I called this place home for a year. One of the first tenants to move in when it was recently opened. The apartment complex is close to practically everything including Bart, shopping and dining. The parking structure is amazing. It has remote control entry and electric charge stations. Management is friendly and professional during service requests as well. Although the units are relatively small in size, they provide commuters an opportunity to enjoy the East Bay. The complex is very secure when going away for the weekend. Occasionally maintenance falls behind on schedule, but overall it is a good place to live.

There are always about 20-30% of EV chargers out of service, which leads to residents constantly unplugging chargers from other vehicles that are still charging. If you drive an electric vehicle, avoiding this place—it’s highly inconvenient and frustrating.
