CSA has changed my life. It gave me a home and sense of purpose when I moved to CA. I am so grateful for the CSA community. It has also transformed me as an athlete. I am in the Muay Thai program as well as the CrossFit program. I am surrounded by knowledgeable world class coaching, and incredible teammates. In my time at CSA I have reached countless mile stones in CrossFit, and won a National Title in Muay Thai. You can join this gym just to become more healthy and meet some new people, or with dreams of becoming a professional athlete. I cannot recommend them enough.

Very low energy and poor communication from the head coach. I live I Washington, I’ve heard great things about CSA from social media and classmates.I called a month in advance and was texting with a representative named “Katie” to ensure a smooth visit. When I arrived at the gym the coach said “well you should have notified us ahead of time” and gave off a vibe that I was bothering him.In my mind I was saying “just get past this and the training would be awesome”Boy was I wrong. The coach gave very minimal instructions, like he expected us to know the combinations and was on his phone for a majority of class. This was an extreme waste of my time and I’m glad my first visit was free because I would not drop a dime there.Very disappointed

Katie Hurd is Top Notch! Hands down the best education I have gotten, retained and shared with others in 2 hours. Katie came to our Dental Practice to educate our team on safety. She was brillant, funny and inspiring. I will be signing up for more classes, bringing my daughter and would highly recommend her and her team. Can't wait for round 2!

I'm going to preface this by saying I joined CSA self defense 8 months ago because I needed (1) some motivation to work out, (2) a hobby outside of graduate school, and (3) to make some friends after a recent move. I found the gym through my husband who previously attended CSA. He mentioned that the Krav Maga head coach, Katie, was an exceptional, and he thought I would enjoy the curriculum and respond well to her coaching style. I walked in and was kindly helped by Coach Kirian, who upon hearing that's why I came, took me directly to to Katie and introduced me on my first day. My schedule only lets me attend about 3-4 classes a week (out of 6 possible beginner Krav classes), which was enough for me to go from never having combative experience to test out-of beginners and into the intermediate classes. At this point, there's a 4th and main reason I'm there -- I love it! The community is inviting, the curriculum is challenging and fun, and I truly believe self defense is something EVERYONE should know. The coaches are dedicated and work from their hearts to teach Krav students overall mental resilience and self defense techniques. One of the coaches even drives over from Santa Cruz to teach! They'll eventually all know your name and make jokes, which can bring a lot of laughter in a class that's all about punches, chokes, and dick kicks. These classes have made me more equip to take on challenges than ever before, both mentally and physically, extending beyond CSA and into my everyday life. It's taught me the importance of having a goal that you work hard to achieve. I highly recommend CSA to anyone looking for mental and physical training.

About eight years ago I joined this gym and it was the best decision of my life. I was greeted by kind staff that recommended me to start the Krav program being that I wanted to go into the military/law enforcement field. What's amazing about the program is that is can be for anyone at any age, in any shape, at any level. You will learn how to be safer on the streets by training in this program. Coach Katie runs the Krav Maga program and has done an amazing job at it providing unique opportunities from seminars such as edge weapons or anti-abduction to getting to go to the shooting range and even wearing high gear where it is possible to feel what's it like to be in a fight. This program gives you realistic training and the reality of the violence that can and does continue to occur on the streets.Trust me if you are looking for a unique workout there's nothing like a combative class taught by Coach Katie. I have been very thankful to have met someone and have someone like her, she has pushed me passed my limits and continues to motivate me to make me safer on the streets. This place has become a family to me... everyone at this gym wants you to succeed and help you reach your goals whether that's to be a better athlete or to get in the ring. Trust me it is worth every penny. Thank you to all the CSA staff for motivating me and making me a better athlete.

Definitely a gym for fighters. You want to learn to fight then come here. I left Academy of Self Défense because they transformed into a McDojo with useless ranks. Turns out the original Academy of Self Defense was designed by Kirian one of the owners of this Gym. So far I have not been disappointed by the instructors.

Best gym ever! I've been training in the Krav program for over 7 years, and each class is gold! The coaches are world-class instructors, and also continue to learn and bring in new information and techniques.

I've been going to CSA for over a year now and my experience from the very beginning to now has been awesome!I had recently moved to the East Bay, and I knew nobody or anything around me. I had taken some Krav in the South Bay so I was interested in continuing that, and hoped something would be close by. Luckily for me, CSA popped up right away and after looking over their website, I knew I wanted to at least check it out. Their website has tons of information on the gym, and the programs they have, including their class schedules.First time there, I was welcomed by Kirian and he told me about the Krav program. He let me sit in on one of the classes to get a feel of it. And then I met Katie, who's the head coach of their Krav program. I loved her right away! She has an amazing teaching style, highly skilled, super funny, and an overall badass. I signed up that same day. Every class I've attended is always slightly different, they're challenging but fun, and every coach I've had here are absolutely top notch. My previous coaches could not even compare. I look forward coming to class cause I know I'll get one heck of a workout every time :) I love the friends I've made here! Even though I moved again and a bit further away, I have no plans of leaving anytime soon. Gym itself is really nice! Super spacious and kept clean. I have yet to try the other programs they offer, but would love to try them some day!

I joined CSA a month ago and I love it! Coach K and his team are motivating and energetic! Today I attended the 9 am bagging class with Coach Katie and she is no joke! She is not only motivating but highly skilled! You always get a good workout and a life lesson to keep pushing! Katie classes make you want to stay on your grind and keep pushing! We are not mediocre

The owner is very short with someone like me who is trying to inquire about new membership. He pretty much ignored me at first and had some rude comments. Finishes his statement by saying I'm not trying to insult you!! Also he was rude once before as well and I was giving the place a second chance. This is the second time he has clearly told me: THIS MAY NOT BE THE GYM FOR YOU. To anyone who else who is colored skin I clearly feel he is being racist and trying to keep ethnic folk out of his gym!
