We should normalize leaving reviews of our workplace experiences and if you guys want to work in a place where you can actually use your professional, comprehensive costumer service skills this is not the place Ross Dress For Less located on 2640 W Pershing Rd, Chicago, IL 60623. I got hired by the store manager Carlos Castaneda which his real name is Salvador Castaneda back in the beginning of June 2023. I had so many bad experiences with the store manager. When other employees would come up to me and we’ll have a little conversation he’ll send me home but he wouldn’t send the men home. I wasn’t allowed to talk to guys or else he’ll send me home or he would put me in the fitting rooms to not talk to anybody. We were once talking about how long he’s been with his partner and I asked how do you make it so far and he disrespectfully answered “Well is not like I’m the one going around getting pregnant by any guy” so obviously when he said that I took it as he was trying to call me a h0e I tried so hard to stay calmed cuz he’s homosexual so mind you he can’t even get pregnant to start off with, and after he said that he started laughing and high fiving an employee. Whenever costumers would reach to me for help and if it looked like a conversation to him he would get mad because I’m not supposed to be talking to costumers for too long I guess or at times he would just make me feel like he just didn’t want me to talk to anybody. There was also an incident where I was helping a costumer by the fitting rooms on a Sunday she was making me questions about bedding sheets and I was answering her question when he pushed my mini hummer and talks over me and said “y tu para allá y tu para allá” and moved me out the way I wasn’t even able to finish answering the costumers question, she said she was going to call human resources to complain about the incident idk if she did call but the fitting room person that day witnessed everything. I also had to witness very rude and inappropriate behavior from Carlos towards employees and costumers. He had inappropriate homosexual behavior towards the male employees and he would also say many disturbing homosexual comments towards the male employees. I’m not homophobic but I don’t think it’s professional from the store manager to have such a disgusting behavior towards almost all males. I remember once a female was feeling bad and it was noticeable that she was sick and the girl kept saying how she was scared to tell him she wanted to go home early, that day we were closing at 11 pm and she asked to leave around 9-10pm and Carlos said “a si too bad for you walk it off” but if it was one of his favorite guys he would’ve had responded with a “oh yea babes that’s fine”. He would make females less than males. Even when costumers would have questions and they would ask him he would answer with the most non funny rude humor. But he wanted to send me home over just talking to employees or being on my phone when I was in the fitting rooms whenever I felt like I had the chance I would have all rugs neatly organized and folded everything up the floor maybe not as perfect as he wanted but I tried the most I could and I used to like taking 30 minutes to do any task so that I wouldn’t finish to soon and then be bored and have nothing to do. Ever since I first started working there up to my last day January 8, 2024 never was I ever late to any of my shifts, never did I ever did a no call no show, The most call offs I had was maybe 4-5, whenever I wasn’t able to attend one of my shifts I always had somebody to cover my shift, I never had money missing on my register, I never gave him drama or any problems. The only way you can be on his good side is if u kiss his a$$ but he already has too much di*k up his a$$ I didn’t have the need to be another rider just to get more hours. Store manager liked having power over his employees. He would laugh and flex about how he liked Terminating people and how easy it was to do it. I really liked working here and I like my coworkers but Carlos was just a problem.

Customer service@ Ross in Alton Illinois sucks! They also discriminate against African American people. These cashiers/sprineless Managers need to be retrained in how to treat people. They all have Bad attitudes for the people coming in to shop.Banned Ross#2024

The service at this store is HORRENDOUS! Their fitting rooms are closed an hour before closing time, the store is dirty, and the staff are incredibly rude. If you TRY to speak with the manager, none of the staff will let you know who he is and won't tell you his schedule. I asked very nicely, but over and over I was told they didn't know when he would be there, that I had to tell THEM my problem first, etc.. I finally spoke with an assistant manager who told me off and kept talking over me even tho the ONLY issue I was trying to convey, in a very nice manner, was that I wanted to try an item on but the fitting rooms were locked an hour before closing. What could have been a very pleasant question turned out to be an insulting and aggravating conversation. Unbelievable. What a horrible place.

This place was a mess, clothes on the floor pushed under the racks, clothes piled on top of the racks. I have been to some better,cleaner Ross Dress For Less. I was really disappointed.

Went into Monroe, La store to purchase markdown Xmas items some were marked down some not. Girl tells me man at front would have to do that. After I stood in line 15 mins on my lunch break they tell me they can’t mark down but I just saw him mark down for another customer. Bad bad business!!! Do unto to others as you would do u to you. Call corporate to complain no help there!!! I wasted my time there shopping after waiting in line with nothing but Xmas items to be told they weren’t doing it right now when I clearly saw him doing it with other customers!

homeless will steal their products & ROSS let’s them get away with it. i was wrongfully terminated for stopping a thief. i was NOT hurt nor was my coworker, she was let go as well.i saved that store more than $200 in perfumes/cosmetics in one night.guess what?! HR calls me up.instead of thanking me for my bravery, or expecting a reward - they investigate & without context - think about the homeless, telling me “they need it more than you, your life is not worth it” blah blah blah. got my last check & never returned.

The Bend Oregon store has horrible customer service. No hello. The staff has no customer service skill. The store is always a mess with shelves laying on the floor.. no soap in bathroom when they let you use them. . So that mean employeee are not washing their hands and the manager is a joke. She is very rude!!! The whole time there she was talking on cellphone.get it together Ross in Bend Oregon

it saddens me to know that once my favorite store, now I will never return. And also have talked to a lawyer and I think im going to file charges for racial profiling. Madison and manzanita location in Sacramento ca. I went in there to shop, had my own reusable bag in the cart, while I was standing there looking for chargers, security came over and without saying anything reached into the cart into my bag, and proceeded to ask me if everything I had visible was from their store. only to find there was nothing in the bag. I was humiliated , meanwhile the whole time he was doing so, never once said anything to me. I feel as though it was a violation of my rights and when I asked him why he was doing it, he never once said anything. until after he was done and didn't find anything. then he tried to make light of the situation and say then told him I looked like someone that ran out of the store with merchandise the previous Monday. which I was out of town on that day. again I was racially profiled and then when they were wrong they laughed about it. again I've never felt so humiliated in my life. I have already sealed legal consultation

I recently had an incident at the corporate office that left me quite unsettled. While the company responded promptly, there was a glaring lack of transparency in communicating the outcome of the investigation. Despite seeking clarification, I was met with ambiguity, leaving me unsatisfied and questioning the company's commitment to transparency and accountability. Improved communication about incident resolutions would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience for stakeholders

Not a place for me !!!! Manager Raul insulted me and asked ne to leave because I said the self check out should have cashiers because they have one cashier removing tags wasting time telling people only one at atime when there's 6 self check out registers! Very Very rude and loud. Definitely not management material

The manager here at the LaSalle location in Bismarck ND is disgustingly RUDE! He will talk back to you, call you names and do it all while he is 2 feet away from you trying to intimidate. I would not recommend shopping here unless you want to support a manager who is absolutely awful, plus all of their stuff is a mess anyway, it doesn’t appear anyone cleans or organizes this store! Such a shame… Ross you need a new manager at this location. I will not be coming back until he’s gone!

Corporate, When you installed self checkout you should have done your homework!! Your Store manager at Ross in Elpaso,Texas on Yarbrough told me you just implemented a new program where when you go through self checkout you get your bags searched and receipt checked. You should check the big bags that come into your Store and the diaper bags of the people who are actually ripping you off.Your a lawsuit waiting to happen.

The Manager here at 13291 City Station Dr, Jacksonville, FL, was rude and made snarky remarks towards me. If she does not like her job she should just quit her job and not take it up with the customers. Thanks for insulting a service member. Will not shop here ever again!

I went into a Ross store in Orlando Florida today to exchange a clothing item that was defective and I had my receipt I have never been treated so horribly and then let me put it this way I have never experienced racism like I did today from your employees. I can't think of anything else it would have been except that! I watched two of your employees one of them being an assistant manager talk about me while I stood there waiting to be helped. I watched the assistant manager go to every employee, mad because they ended up having to exchange the defective shorts that they did not want to exchange in the first place! I had a cart full of items to purchase but after that treatment I will not spend my money here!

Ross is my off, and on, friend. Generally, I like "him".Sure, they still have lots of packaged cookies, coffees, liquid hand soap, colognes, jewelry, and kitchenware...all at a fraction of what you would find elsewhere. Service is good, but scarce on the floor.Worth a trip? Maybe. I've seen better.Man up, Ross. C'mon.Location specific: Dublin, CA==========================Wow. This was bad. There's discount stores, and there is bottom-of-the-barrel ones. Not only dirty, but bare inventory and low-end items. Parking is aplenty, but it's not worth a trip.
