“This is our favorite place to go for a whole side of Salmon when it's on sale. It's typically $10.99 or $11.99 per pound when it's on sale. And it is just delicious when it cooks up.”

“Expect a few fist fights over parking - this place is crazy busy. Excellent variety of grocery store goodness. Good place to stop if you have a recipe that requires a hard to find ingredient. Expect to spend some time in the beer aisle. The bakery looked pretty awesome but I can't confirm the taste.”

“This is a great neighborhood market. Especially if you don’t have coffee creamer, sugar, eggs or cheese.. I don’t have to run to a chain store that’s loud, crowded and waiting in long lines. The Staff remembers you and says hi!”

“This is the best grocery store in the area. I travel 30 minutes to shop here. Well worth it. Some of the freshest & hugest selection of fruits & vegetables to be found under one roof. The butcher shop in the back of the store is newly remodeled. The butchers are very friendly & helpful with suggestions.”

“Run by a local family, this store is immaculate and run with pride. The goods on the shelves are not just neatly stacked, they are arranged so the labels are all facing out in the same direction. Incredible! There’s a small butcher counter in the back, and all the fresh produce looks amazing. The folks there are helpful and friendly.”

“Only place in Alameda where we can stock up on frozen pelmeni, our favorite cold weather instant dinner. We don’t have to go into Darkest Oakland any more (or out to Walnut Creek).”

“Other reviewer summed it up nicely: you can find many vegan staples and their sandwiches can be built vegan. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sandwich personally, but it was decent and a fair value! Seems like they have a committed daily lunch following for them?do be aware there’s only so many ways to build a vegan sandwich, so it may get boring if you get it too often.”

“I love this little market. It has everything you would expect at a convenience store plus a lot more, including produce. I typically stop here for snacks, wine, or just for something I forgot to grab at the supermarket. One of the things I like best about this place is the extensive wine and beer selection as well as the fact that every single wine bottle has a price sticker on the top of it so I'm never wondering.”

“The perfect convenience store for when you're on Oak St towards Octavia to US-101 or I-80 and the Bay Bridge. You can easily stop for the necessities during your commute street parking is easy, and the staff are super friendly. For my commute it's a pint of Haagen-Dazs, a Gatorade and a bag of Kettle brand chips for the days when there is traffic.. Let's just say I eat a lot of ice cream. What's your favorite snack during a long commute?”

“Love this place!! It's a block & a half from our home & the owners/employees are great! They are one of very few retailers who sell my favorite soda! Also have the best prices of small candy!! I LOVE CANDY & Honey Buns! Which they also have the best of for only 0.89¢!! Love Love Love this is store, their customer service is fabulous! “Every time I stop in the shattuck market, I find exactly what I’m looking for! The dates are always current… yesterday the milk had a much better date than at the bigger stores! The veggies even look fresh… yay!”

“With the number of grocery shopping options on Stockton Street, it's easy to overlook this 3-in-1market. Given the store size, you won't find a comprehensive variety of produce or products. It's a backup shopping spot for me when I'm unable to find vegetables or cooking ingredients either at that SoCal based chain supermarket or other neighboring stores. They have fish tanks in the rear area behind the cashier counter and back right corner while the meat section is along the right wall towards the front as you walk in. In the center area, you'll find open freezer bins with various seafood like abalone, oysters, mussels, scallops, and sea cucumber as well as packed fish balls and other processed seafood products. I've come here a couple times when my normal shopping spot didn't have okra. I come here normally when I can't find okra. I can't vouch for their meats and seafood price and quality wise as I have not bought from those sections. Good backup spot for me.”

“The owner's real sweet always greets you when you come in but I'm not going to lie sometimes he'll give you the stank eye,
LOL, ha, ha, ha, ha!
But I guess that's just him as a mature older man . He's just set in his own ways, that's all...
Other than that it's cool small meat market vegetable sometimes other everyday items that you might need in the kitchen to cook.
They have Powerball, Super Lotto, & All kind of scratchers too!
P
retty much everything in that category...”

“- It's a great store where you can find almost anything, and the seller is an honest and respectable person. The only drawbacks are the dim lighting and the lack of price tags on the items, which means you have to ask the seller for prices frequently.”

“A tofu shop in Chinatown. What I would like to highlight is not the low price, but the freshness and deliciousness of the tofu. I realized that tofu is just like vegetables and fruits, and freshness is extremely important in determining its taste. It's a hard type of tofu that Japanese people don't like, but when you add it to miso soup, it's delicious and you'll gulp it down. Please buy the one that doesn't come in a pack. Recommended.”

“Wanted a couple beef shanks and trying to avoid Cardenas cuz that place can be a zoo esp on weekends. Found this place on yelp and called ahead. Got two meaty frozen shanks. Cooked a soup. Will return and try other items.”

“I love this neighborhood supermarket. I have been a customer for YEARS. The staff is amazing - super friendly and helpful. The produce (vegetables & fruits) are the best - ready to eat and fresh. Also the Deli and Soups are great. And yes on some things the prices are higher than a Safeway or WF but this place is convenient, speedy checkout and a really pleasant place to visit. Worth it IMO.”
