“I’ve recently rented a 10ft U-Haul here 2 weekends in a row, and had a great experience. Staff was very nice and helpful. I checked in and out in person, and the whole process was quick and easy. The only problem I experienced was that I ordered furniture pads for my first rental, and discovered they didn’t carry them at pickup. Other than that, everything went smoothly and there weren’t any surprise charges or price discrepancies. I’ll probably be back the next time I need to move furniture or any bulky items.”

“Great experience renting a van from U-Haul yesterday. My car had an issue and I was scheduled to pick up some boxes in Concord in just a few hours. I was able to rent a van immediately online and the pick-up was quick and easy. The man running the office was extremely kind and helpful during both check-in and check-out. All together it was a good experience that gave me a quick save when I really needed large vehicle for just a few hours.”
“Love the employees, helpful, and the rental process was quick in and out. However, the truck itself had significant exterior damage—nothing major, just long scratches, dents, and dings. I walked around to video everything so I would not be charged for the damage. The interior is actually pleasant and clean, no smells or stains. Everything functions as expected. The air conditioning, heater, radio, and lights are all good. The truck had no gas, literally 3 miles to empty, so they said you would need to get gas now. Okay, I had hoped to drive it for a little bit because it was the largest truck they had, to be familiar with it before attempting to maneuver it through a gas station. The truck rode a little rough, but I thought maybe it was because it was low on gas. Made it to the station and pumped gas, no problem. But the truck still felt like it was struggling and needed a tune-up or more work. Driving up a hill was very slow with the pedal all the way down. Glad I didn't have far to go. Also, black exhaust smoke was pretty bad. It was a short local rental, so we managed. The rate was excellent so I would rent from them again. I will be more aware of how the engine was running before loading the truck.”
“Rented a truck to move our daughter from California to Idaho. Enterprise was the least expensive option for a weekrental. The truck size was upgraded without an extra charge. The vehicle was newish with no mechanical issues.”
“Most of my UHaul experiences involve small businesses trying to make some extra side cash (but not putting any effort or attention into being a topnotch rental yard) and/or employees that seem absolutely miserable. Renting from Windy Flat was the exact opposite of that experience in every way.
The vehicles are super clean, and previous damage is actually noted meticulously so you don't have to wonder if you'll be charged for the tiny knick you see on your walkthrough. They have tons of space for their vehicles, so there's no weird issues with driving big trucks through shared parking lots or having the employee ask you to follow them in your car to a second lot to grab your truck (a real past experience btw). And most importantly, the people who run this location are absolutely incredible.
We showed up when the office opened and, due to Uhaul's system error, were waiting for a bit before we could check out. Not only was this painless, it was borderline enjoyable, lol. The people helping us were kind, apologetic (despite this being no fault of their own), and just straight up pleasant. When we unexpectedly had to adjust our reservation later on, they helped us eagerly and competently, and even took a moment from absolutely crushing it at their jobs to check how we were doing personally.
At this point I am gushing about van rental, so to wrap this up and reiterate: Windy Flat RV Center is a fantastic business of any kind. When compared to the average UHaul dealer, they are simply unparalleled. I would recommend anyone in the East Bay use this location, even if it means a few extra miles on your invoice. You won't regret it.

“Wayne at this budget location is a real gem. I came in without a reservation, he found me the lowest rate, and he went above and beyond when I returned the cargo van. I highly recommend this location and Wayne specifically. Another time I came there were a lot of customers ahead of me but today it was clear.”

“I had a very pleasant experience. The gentleman at the counter was very nice. He had the vehicle ready for me when I arrived, he was ready for me even a little early! That was really appreciated since it was raining and I knew traffic would be bad. The van was nice--very clean, and it was a hybrid so used only a little gas. Since it's a newer vehicle it was fun to drive. The only slight downside is I should have clarified before leaving where to park the vehicle at the end of my rental. The location doesn't have a parking lot, and it's on a busy corner, so I should have asked before my rental where to park when returning. But other than that it was a perfect experience!”
