This place is chock full of fun! So much cool equipment packed into a small space AND friendly staff to guide your selection (that's what makes this place special and rate 5 stars).

This place has some much great gear. Their prices are basically the same as you'd find online, which is amazing. One of the only physical retailers in the country for ULA backpacks with tons of stock of theirs along with all of the other ultralight brands. They stock tons of cottage brands that no one else has and all of the best gear for backpacking, with none of the cheapo, heavy, low quality stuff allowing to directly compare all of the best equipment to decide exactly what works best for you. The employees are very knowledgeable and have first-hand experience, which you just can't get anywhere else. I will absolutely be back, and plan to do all the purchasing I can from here. I drove all the way from Santa Monica to go here, and will absolutely do it again.

Son and I went to Nomad Ventures 11/13/24 . Spent about $400. Employees were professional, knew the products and treated us right. We will go back.

Went into this store almost 10 years ago, I remember they had a corgi working on staff, and the best selection of outdoor gear around.
Going back it was exactly the same, minus the corgi, but still amazing people and selection. I could wander forever looking at everything and seeing my wallet get slimmer.
Worth the drive no matter where you are at. 30min Yep, 2hrs Yep, 4hrs id say so, 6 if it’s an ev, 8hrs definitely, the hours you’ll spend with the gear you’ll buy is worth the trip itself
Will be back. Can never have enough gear lol

We checked this place out to find some hiking shoes. Fitz helped us out, he was so kind and knowledgeable! We told him about our upcoming trip to Oregon and he recommended some nice hiking trails and coffee shops up there. We are very appreciative! Excellent customer service, would happily shop there again. :)

This place is awesome. My only complaint is that they don’t have a location closer to Orange County. If you like REI, this is like REI on steroids. They have a lot of smaller boutique brands that offer very cool backpacking products. I called about a week ago and told them I was looking for a specific size pack and they went out of their way to bring packs from their other stores so I could come in and try them all on at the same time since I had to drive over an hour to get there. I can’t say enough about Mike and Brett. They are super cool down to earth and very nice and helpful. And they also have real world experience in the Sierras and can give firsthand accounts of what products they like and why. Supporting local businesses is easy when they are super cool and knowledgeable. Cheers!

I adore this place! Always a must-stop when I’m in Joshua Tree or Idyllwild. Always the friendliest staff. The owner even replaced a shirt I’d bought as a gift with the correct size when I discovered it didn’t fit. Big fan of this place :’) Buy their merch too!! Super cozy

Nice outdoors store with a very well curated selection of products. Staff was welcoming and friendly, checking up on any questions that I had. Some of their items are not easily available at bigger box chains. Was able to score on a nice sale item :)

I came into this place with my wife to look at binoculars and we were greeted by the nicest men inside! Sometimes it's intimidating, as a female, to go into serious sporting/outdoors stores because people are often judgey, but this place was SO welcoming and had the best vibes because of these men! 100% this will be my go-to outdoorsy store because of the great customer service! We looked at their binoculars called "nocs," and they were REALLY good quality, and pretty! They came in different color options! Then they sold everything else you could imagine for rock climbing, camping, outdoors cooking, maps, and more. Definitely coming back!

Really great selection of gear for such a boutique sized store. The staff was helpful in locating the gear needed. The items offered here are really high quality. There are some high-end hiking and outdoor gear that I have not seen anywhere else, including REI. Although I came here for hiking equipment, they also cater to kayaking, mountain climbing, camping, backpacking, and they even have some overland gear and other car accessories.
The store is very well organized and clean. Nothing is out of place. This place also has a great hiking hat selection.
There is plenty of parking around. Especially mid day. If you don't get parking directly in front, there is street parking located all around and behind the building as well.

I buy some specialized items not easily found in store/online here, like my Vibrams Five Finger shoes (whether detective Ryan Murphy likes it or not).

Shopped at Nomad Adventure for a ULA backpack. Placed an order for a ULA Catalyst in Purple with the straps...a 2024 model. I paid for it and 2 other items I purchase in the store. After about a week I called for a lead time on my order. No one called me back. A couple of days later I called again. Again, no one called me back. The third time, Fletcher called me back. He asked my name and what I ordered. I said I ordered the purple Catalyst in the 2024 style with the straps. He called the representative and emailed me back that it does not come in Purple, only red and green. Ok. I ordered the red. A few days later he emailed me to confirm the order and give me a delivery date. I went to pick it up. Then he tells me they misquoted me and I owe them $33 dollars more. They couldn't absorb the $33 because they were a small shop. I paid. Left with my new backpack. Unlikely to shop there ever again...
