Very good customer service, very friendly, this makes everything super easy, especially very good communication, the rental equipment very clean and well maintained, the location very convenient, highly recommended.

I'm Shawn George an employee here at Uhaul Sherman Oaks. This message isn't what so ever negatively directed towards the Uhaul company itself or any of its management. They have all been great to me since my employment. But, I have voiced my complaints about Mr. Abrams, (the owner of the lot that Uhaul is located on) to multiple Uhaul managers but no action has been taken and I don't know who else to speak to so now I'll just make it public so hopefully someone will see this and stop this tyrant (Abrams) from continuing to ruin the relationships with Uhaul customers and employees because of his rude, condescending, unnecessarily extreme behavior. I have been employed here for 2 years now and Abrams has been on an obnoxious power trip since day 1 towards myself and customers alike. And as of now he's trying to slowly force me to leave the location by cutting my hours and not allowing me to swap days with coworkers for no other reason than because I'm one of the few people willing to stand up for myself against his ridiculously belligerent attitude which annoys him because I can't be intimidated. Why continue to work here then you ask? Because, I genuinely like (not need) the job, I have thick skin so I can tolerate his ignorance and most importantly I truly enjoy meeting and connecting with the Uhaul customers who some are going through maybe the worst day of their lives from being evicted, family passing and various other reasons. I try to be a shining light and uplift the spirits of those who need it only for Abrams to show up and literally curse them out and "ban" them for unknowingly parking their van incorrectly. Seriously? Yes. And there's been various other incidences where he's almost fought customers over petty nonsense. Feel free to read other reviews and ask anyone who has dealt with this man if anything I've said here is true and I doubt anyone would disagree. Abrams is one of the rudest people I have ever met in my life and has no business being in charge of anything customer service related. I just wanted post this so that if any Uhaul regulars and anyone else I've connected with while employed here comes in and I'm not there, at least you'll know the truth about what's actually happening. Hopefully someone from Uhaul who cares about Uhaul's public perception will do something to stop him or he will run this location into the ground.

Great experience! A little strange they don't allow you to park on the site, but otherwise, great experience. Main reason for great experience was Shaq - he treated my fiancé and I amazingly and made the whole experience great. Could not have been friendlier, accommodating, and just all around genuine! Thanks Shaq!

I was disappointed to return the vehicle and be charged $25 for gas when I returned it with the same exact amount. Felt like a scam to me but luckily I had taken photos of the gas out/gas in on the dash so I was able to verify and get refunded through customer service. I don't appreciate being cheated and I felt it was intentional on behalf of the location in Sherman Oaks. Will not be renting there again or from U-haul. This was my first and last time ever as a U-haul customer. TAKE PICS of the dash on your way out and in!

U-Haul to the rescue in a pinch! Despite the construction site meets car yard auction feel - this location was the one we needed we didn't even know was here. Located under the 101 freeway across from the Westfield Fashion Square Mall off of Hazeltine Ave and Valleyheart Dr - you are able to pull into the lot.We came in while they were still out to lunch (around 12:45), but were the first ones in line when back on as they are open Monday thru Saturday9 AM - 12 PM and again from 1 PM - 5 PM; Sunday 9 AM - 5 PM.I'm almost positive Shawn may have been who helped us (but I'm bad with names on the first go). And though I didn't engage with him directly he made our experience smooth as can be. He's a very social and friendly person and kept my friend Christina and her husband chatting for much longer than we planned to be there. She's a new mom and rarely leaves the house so I think she was excited to engage with someone just as outgoing and personable as she is.Shawn gave us some great options for trucks as the were out of the largest sizes (20 and 26) being the end of/first of the month (everybody is moving) - we ended up with to 15 foot trucks which was actually better. We were able to get my friends Christina and Bernardo loaded up for their next adventures in the Bay Area with their little girl. Fortunately, I was the first one there on a Saturday morning. There is only one person working so getting there before they do is the thing to do! I did feel sorry for the people waiting to be helped, if that were me I would have been pissed! Having said that, I am grateful for the soothing words Shawn gave me. I have never driven a U-Haul truck very far but this time I drove about 700 miles North. I also hauled a trailer with my car on it. It was super stressful because I was alone and I have never hauled anything! Shawn encouraged me to go 55mph and everything would be fine. It was. It was a long drive and stressful at times but I made it without issue. The thing I wish someone would perfect is the issue of pulling the car onto the trailer and not being able to open the door. I was able to crawl out and roll my window up but because I needed to get my arm out, there was a gap. I had to tape it with plastic to protect the inside of the car and it worked! Thank you Shawn for the soothing ad encouraging words.

Shout out to Shawn who did his best to keep the line moving and get everyone what they needed. He was working alone that morning and many of us arrived at the same time to pick up our vehicle. I needed a truck for a few hours to move a piece of furniture. Here are some tips I can offer about the rental process: 1. The website inventory may not be accurate, best to call the location to make a reservation and have them text you the confirmation. 2. "Check in" online when you arrive by clicking on the text confirmation and completing the form to speed up the paperwork process when it's your turn. 3. Show up early! They book future reservations based on when people SAY they will return the vehicle. If someone keeps the rental for an extra day, the inventory is off and you may not get a truck if you arrive later. 4. If they run out, they'll do what they can to find a vehicle in-stock at another location. But you'll have to drive there to get it and pay the extra mileage fees for the longer distance to and from. 5. The last weekend of month will be EXTRA busy because that's when most people move to a new residence. 6. You can't leave your vehicle on their lot while you're renting, so have someone drop you off. As I mentioned above, Shawn was working alone. Most of us waited an hour in line to get our vehicle. He worked as fast as he could to complete our paperwork, show each person their vehicle, how to operate it and provide the extras (blankets, dolly, etc). There really wasn't a way to speed it up without extra help. On the flip side, my drop off was quick and painless as he wasn't working alone and I showed up at a time that wasn't busy. Overall I had a good experience and would use this location again.

Needed a truck to help my mom move last minute, The Sherman oaks facility was a big help! Even after I made multiple changes to my reservation they had no problem accommodating my needs. They were very professional and instructive when giving me the info about using the truck and where and how to return. I ended up needing to return the truck after hours, they walked me through the self return options and made it very easy! Not sure what problems people are having but I can say my first experience was great. 10/10 would recommend to a friend

i mean... the reviews say it all. My son reserved the truck to move the refrigerator the night before. He requested the dolly and the truck with the ramp. When we showed up the next morning, they only had one truck left and it was without the ramp or the dolly. There were two guys, one of them looked like he was being trained. Neither one of them apologized or offered any solutions. One of them literally said, "that's all we have and you don't have to take it". They never went over the paperwork or explained anything. i'm not sure how they are still in business, because they do not provide and customer service at all.

We reserved a truck and a Dolly a week ago. When we got there the guy said they were all out of trucks, then when we insisted that we reserved it a week ago they magically had another truck available. They also didn't have the dolly we specifically requested online. Lastly, at least on Sundays they close at 1, which isn't made clear online. We will be using a different u-haul location next time.

Was supposed to drop off a van at 12:30pm, we got here at 12:20pm, gate was closed and we've been waiting over an hour, nobody is picking up the phone, trust the horrible reviews on this place.
