We were visiting from South Carolina and this wonderful man gifted my wife some children's books for her elementary school students when he found out she was an educator. His wife is a talented author and her books are amazing.
The store had so many cool items and trinkets that were fairly priced. If there is anything you need from your visit to Sausalito this is a must stop.”

Routes Gallery has become one of my absolute favorite places—not just to shop, but to be inspired. Nearly every room in my world is touched by the beauty I've found there: my Skin Care Spa is filled with serene Buddha statues, shimmering geodes, and soulful objects that have helped create a sanctuary-like atmosphere for my clients. It's more than decor—it’s energy. A feeling of peace, presence, and reverence that people feel the moment they walk through the door.
My home and garden are equally graced by their treasures: a majestic Balinese water goddess by the fountain, a large Buddha watching over my deck, and a meditation room filled with meaningful, handpicked items—all from Routes Gallery.
What truly makes this place extraordinary is the owner, Richard Routher. Richard is a gem —kind, thoughtful, full of creative ideas, He always goes above and beyond, and it shows in every interaction that I have had.

Jamyang Nordup [the once monk proprietor of this outpost for Tibetan spiritual exchange] has said he is from south of Lhasa, near the border of Nepal, in a place named Kyidrong [translated from Tibetan, as Happy Valley, or Village of Hapiness]. in the past, Kyidrong was a place for fellow Buddhists to congregate, as they traveled from India, and other Holy regions, destined or coming from Lhasa. This shop then, was a vision of Mr. Nordup's, when he came to America in 1988, as a refuge for information, on what some Westerners have named, "Shangri-la". During our discourses in fact, he has explained his great passion for the numerous subjects about Tibet, which he says are very delightful to discuss with visitors.”

“Makers Market feels like American craft went to Mill Valley, had a very good coffee, and came back slightly better dressed.
Inside, it’s all warm wood, soft light, and shelves that look effortless but clearly involved a great deal of thought. Milk bottle candles lined up like they behave, leather goods with quiet confidence, ceramics that make you reconsider the mugs you own at home.
What stands out is the restraint. It would be easy to lean into rustic theatre, but it doesn’t. No performance of authenticity, no heavy storytelling. Just well-made objects, placed with enough confidence to let you discover them at your own pace.
You come in for a look. You leave with something small, useful, and slightly more expensive than planned, and therefore obviously worth it.

“Revolution 9 is such a cute shop! I stopped by yesterday for the first time in about ten years. It was nice to see how very little had changed in all the ways that matter. Going down the list: Attentive customer service? Check. Excellent selection of fun, nerdy, and political gifts? Check, check, and check! If you have Star Wars, Tolkien, Harry Potter, or Studio Ghibli fans in your life, Revolution 9 is a great place to shop for gifts. I got my fiancé a funny "Greetings from Tatooine" postcard and found a My Neighbor Totoro insulated lunch bag for myself. I love the friendly and welcoming vibes here and will be sure to wait less than ten years for my next visit.”
