We have been seeing Dr. Valerie Fates, and we have been very impressed with the standard of care that our two Maltese pups have received. Dr. Fates is thorough, caring, and attentive, and we feel very comfortable having our dogs under her care.

What I especially appreciate is the overall approach of the clinic. Everyone we have interacted with has been incredibly kind and gentle with our dogs. It is obvious that the staff genuinely loves animals and treats them with the same warmth and compassion you would expect from people who have pets of their own.

“Cat Clinic of Mill Valley is a walk-in clinic, especially for new clients. They seem to primarily serve the local community, with people coming in and out constantly, and I believe the veterinarian may be retiring soon.
That said, this is a very useful resource for anyone in the Bay Area who needs urgent cat care and is willing to make the drive, especially since there are not many cat care options left in the area.
Everyone who works there is very nice. It is also very busy, so I would recommend going as early as possible.”

“WOW! My first time here - What a positive experience! This is truly a long time family owned business with well deserved top reviews. Melissa kindly handles everything at the front desk and office - her Dad, Dr. Archinal has been a vet since 1982, and is calm, kind, and wise. He's seen so much - his very presence is reassuring. I felt like, no matter what my dog was dealing with, this Dr would have experience and can offer meaningful perspective and advice. What I came in for - was 2 small lumps on her that I was afraid would need biopsy and maybe more - he looked at them and said, I don't think they are a problem, you don't need to do anything, just keep an eye on. What a relief - hundreds saved there! And - even more - when I adopted my 80# dog from a large East Bay shelter 3 years ago (she was dropped off as a senior at a night deposit box, with broken off teeth, so we did not know her past) - I took her to UC Davis dental vet dept and was quoted $5-6k to address her situation. That was out of reach for me so I gave up hope on being able to help my dog in that way, but I'd do the best I could to give her the best life in other ways. It was so scary I didn't even want to look in her mouth from then on, and it was hopeless anyway. Dr A calmly apprised her situation, gave me solid simple, do-able, advice about how to care for her teeth and gums from now on - and I got a quote for less than 1/3 of that prior quote to do the dental work she needed! Now, I feel like I can take care of this, finally, 3 years after adopting her. God Bless this honest, down to earth, family clinic that treats their patient animals like family too!”

“Not only are the vets here wonderful for cats, making observations about their personalities, they are also great with people and have to be with a lot of finicky cat people. My teen recently got frustrated as we adopted a brand new rescue kitten. She was convinced that the fur baby had "roundworms" just like our 5yo cat used to have. He didn't correct her, just gently suggested that the medication he was prescribing was for tapeworm, for both he eventually said. Only later did she realize her mistake and that the medication was correct... so she got to realize it in her own time... I certainly am not that skilled... we would have gotten into it, possibly bickering about who is right... The other point is that the atmosphere of the clinic, 1970s unchanged, is one of the last bits of old Mill Valley, and I love that. I like the idea that his son will carry it on even when dad retires I hope. Sweet people. Even if I move I will still bring my cats here. You can also consult his son about poison arrow frogs and reptiles, as he is a very knowledgeable animal lover in general. I was there one day when a sweet woman was picking up her cat's remains and grieving, and again, like people have said, there was such an empathy and a kindness from the staff as she grieved and talked about her little best friend and all the good care they had given him over the years... I can't even imagine what it will be like to lose my little familiar.... but I imagine they will be kind in breaking the news... Okay last thing, in an emergency I took my cat to a clinic out of town, male cat with crystallizations..., and they recommended all kinds of unnecessary stuff... with a very high price tag, and Dr. Innis was able to cut through the bs and tell me, oh that's a fancy antibiotic but you can just do this and your cat will be healed. Gold! My bill went from 655 to about 150. He gives what is medically necessary and doesn't pad anything. Better for the people, the cats and the pocketbook. Refreshing and I love that!! I think they are up there with the Bay Area best... and they have earned my respect, many times over.”

“I love this practice. My dog usually sees Dr. Sachs, but on a Monday she's not there. I called early morning as my dog was having issues in need of urgent care. Heather, the owner and practice manager got us seen that day. She even let me know if any cancellations occurred that morning, she'd get us seen sooner. My dog has a lot of anxiety at the practice and knowing his veterinarian, Dr. Robert Sahaghian, was fear free certified really eased MY anxiety. This was our first time meeting him and he was so wonderful and gentle with Boomer. I'm comforted knowing he has two doctors now. Dr. Sahaghian followed up with me quickly regarding his labs, and was thorough and patient with my questions. I honestly, couldn't recommend another family practice more. Fees were reasonable and you never get that corporate feeling like so many vets these days. We make the time and hassle to drive from Oakland, yes Oakland!! Love this practice!”

“Kauai had a tooth extracted and cleaning and I was very nervous about it! It was an Easy drop off, doctor came out and explained what would be happening, the procedure was quick and I received a kind phone call explaining how she did. Pick up was also a breeze and someone gave me thorough instructions verbally and written out, on how to take care of her. Kauais extracted area looks great and healthy so far and her teeth look fresh as well. Overall great experience, everything went very smoothly, and my nerves were calmed!

Every time I take her in the vet is very kind and direct, they have helped manage her anxiety for vet visits and other triggers which has been very helpful. Overall I’m always pleased when I leave there.”

Well, over 5 years later Twiggy is almost 17 years old and doing so well under Dr. Kearney's care. We are so grateful for how much she cares and her bed side manner is the best we have ever seen. I always tell people we are not helicopter parents, WE ARE DRONE PARENTS and Kelle makes us feel safe and takes time to explain everything whether the issue is big or ridiculously small. “Dog whisperer and now cat whisperer. Dr. Marinho is a gift. It started with our Bernese Mountain Dog. He was beginning to have frequent neck pain. It was painful to watch him. He is 10.5 years old. So that is awesome for a Berner. His regular vet put him on Gabapentin daily which takes a toll on a dog’s liver/kidneys. I refused to give him daily. Since Sterling has been seeing Dr. Marinho for acupuncture and taking muscle and neck supplements, he’s like a 2 year old. He has not shown any neck/spine discomfort for months. On his walks, people ask if he’s two. Now our Ragdoll cat is 12.5 years old and got very sick. So is it hyperthyroidism, IBS, or lymphoma? So now Dr. Marinho is treating him as well. We now started acupuncture and supplements on him. She is so knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She is a delightful partner in figuring out the best options for my senior guys. “I am so pleased to know that my pets are well cared for by Dr Turna and his staff.
We have two dogs, a lovable Shih-Tzu (Max) and a goofy Golden Doodle (Indie) both are senior dogs. The staff in the front always greets us and our dogs when we arrive. Our Shih-Tzu is a little bundle of nerves, but the front desk staff is gentle, and they comfort him. He genuinely likes them. We had a poor experience with another local vet regarding Max’s teeth. Max had an abcess on a back tooth that was causing pus to leak from his face, close to his eye. Instead of removing the tooth, the other vet would only prescribe antibiotics and told us that dental work on small dogs is “scary”. We changed to Dr Turna, who immediately diagnosed the problem and scheduled a cleaning plus extraction. Dr Turna not only treated Max, he explained to us why doggie dental care is so important to Max’s health. He answered all of our questions, and helped us to feel at ease about the procedure.
Our Golden was having issues with frequently needing to go out to relieve herself and she even had a few (small) accidents in the house. Dr Turna examined her, and did a few inexpensive, non-invasive tests to rule out serious diseases, and then recommended adjusting her diet to a kidney-friendly food. This greatly improved the situation and completely eliminated the night time accidents.
Dr Turna is a great vet, a true advocate for animals and a very kind man. I highly recommend his practice for those seeking complete and compassionate care for their furry companions.”

“Currently not a client at this vet office but would love to be! I spoke with someone on the phone a few days ago. I just recently got a puppy and she is due for her 2nd round of vaccinations. The receptionist politely told me that they are currently not taking any new clients due to COVID-19, which seemed reasonable. She placed me on a brief hold and she instructed me to call back in a few days when another vet would be in the office and she may be able to see my puppy! Additionally, she gave me some great advice on taking care of my puppy's diarrhea caused by her diet and dewormer. My puppy is now pooping normally and much happier! Looking forward to reaching out again in the upcoming days to hopefully get her seen for her shots!”
