So this vet is a very good vet and very helpful. An definitely try to help clients who can't afford there bills with payment plans. But i just recently had a problem with a employee named makayla, i don't know if im spelling her name correctly. But she has terrible attitude, demeanor is terrible, an how she speaks to the clients is terrible. So with a establishment like that my only regards to them is they should definitely get her some more training. Because she can rub somebody the wrong way and everybody won't have the same patience i had with her an somebody might actually react an do something you that girl. But other then that i like everybody else in that establishment is very nice and helpful and know how to carry themselves. So i really hope they fix that problem and i don't think makayla needs to be fired but she definitely needs some more training with dealing with clients because her attitude is terrible and that mouth is to smart for me for somebody that knew nothing about the situation or my pet. I hope she gets the help she needs or the love she is missing at home somewhere else then a bad attitude at work an letting it out on others because her personal life.

Unfortunately not the same quality service as it used to be hard get a hold of...very limited time as well as personal care. You feel like you are pushed through quickly because there is no time for you or your pet. Not good feel to be in if your fur baby isn't well. I hope they fix their customer service practices and focus on their main priority and that is the care and quality service.

I can honestly say that there are bad vets and there are great vets. Barney & Russum took us in and treated us professionally. They weren't after the money like so many bad Vetinarian's are. Dr. Mack was great she explained everything to us and genuinely cared for our family member/pet. Unfortunately our Mia had kidney issues that were to far advanced. We had to make a tough decision to put her down. Dr. Mack and the staff were so helpful in finalizing everything which made it a lot easier for us. I'd like to thank Dr. Mack and her support staff for the help they gave my family in this difficult time. Like I said there are very bad useless Vetinarian's but this one isn't one of them !!

My dog, Butter Cup needed to have her teeth cleaned and 1 molar pulled. Her gums were red and sore looking. My regular vet gave me a quote of just under 2,500 dollars. This seemed awfully high to me. So I called several other Vets in my area and Barney and Russum Animal Hospital said it would likely be between 600 and 800 dollars. I immediately made an appointment with them. True to there word the final cost was under 800.00. And this included the pain medication to keep her comfortable. The front office staff, vet techs, and the Veterinarian were all kind, professional and helpful. I would highly recommend Barney and Russum to any body looking for good care for their furry family!

Old guy wasn't helpful at all charged me $200 for janky ass ultrasound that I had to take picture of with my phone. Also is line of questioning and scare tactics to get me to do a c-section for at the least 3k.Watch out for that old fella he is obviously a crook ps my French bull dog had her pups natural with out complication and much cheaper than 3k. Since I have to give at least one star let's just say the one is for the really nice ladies in reception awesome job ladies find a new employer quick would be my suggestion

I have loved this clinic and we have been long term customers. The oldest invoice I can find is from July of 2015. I always found the staff to be professional and caring in regards to our animals. That was until today. Scenario...I have a sick cat. She is not eating, throwing up (mainly thick saliva) and has dropped weight. She is a senior outdoor cat that sleeps in her house on our patio. I called today at approx 9:30am as I am concerned for her and consider this an urgent situation. The girl that answered the phone put me on hold and then told me that they are full today and tomorrow and the earliest appt. is next Wed at 10:30. I tried to explain that I believe the cat is in pain. I asked if I could speak to the office mgr in the hopes of a better solution. "Makayla, the office manager" took my call and told me that they are short handed and I should go to emergency in Fairfield or another vet. I think she said Mid Valley and then she hung up on me!! Compassion is truly the most important thing for my pets and it seems that this is non existent at Barney & Russum.

Dr. Russum, Dr. Mack and staff gave me 7 more months with my dog after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure and kidney disease. We were seeing specialists at UC Davis and Dr. Russum in between. I know there is a shortage of veterinarians which is not their fault. The girls were kind and caring - even helping me administer medication at the end. I highly recommend them and am taking my new puppy there!

I stopped going to this vet bc my dog was scared to go back in after she got her nails trimmed once. She never acts timid so that kinda alarmed me but we went back for an X-ray bc they were the most affordable in town and have been going ever since. Not sure what happened on that nail trim day but since then the staff and docs have treated my dog with love and patience. They're not really a money grab type of Vet so I appreciate that.

I've invested considerable time, traveling two hours for my dogs and even assisting others by covering their dogs' expenses when necessary. The establishment has consistently demonstrated excellence with an understanding, supportive, and competent staff. However, I am deeply disheartened by their recent abandonment amid my efforts to address my reactive dog. This turn of events, compounded by being turned away on multiple occasions during a critical period of need, is particularly distressing. Having entrusted them with numerous dogs over the past 7-8 years and vouched for their services, this experience has been a profound disappointment.

This clinic used to be okay but not anymore because some of the staff are lazy and customer service is rude. This white, tall heavy set lady with tattoes on her arm is lazy and rude and don't have patience with my dog. I can tell from her face and gestures that she doesn't like us everytime we were there. Few months back, this lady did not even do my dog's nail appointment and told us that she can't trim my pet's nail because my dog was anxious and needs to be fully sedated. I told her that we have been going there for nail trim without a problem but all of a sudden she just don't want to do it. Our time and effort coming at this clinic was wasted for nothing. Getting an appointment is already a pain. Arriving there on time but not getting the service, is very disappointing. And this morning I texted this clinic and told them that my dog ingested a latex gloves at around 8am and asked if I can go there to have him check and maybe they can give him a medication to induce vomiting. One of the staff called me and gave me instructions to give my dog something to eat before going there. She said to go there ASAP. I drove there right away because time is of essence. My house is just less than 15min away from the clinic. When we got there, they had us wait for 40min only to tell us that there's no available meds and just go somewhere else. They instead referred us to this clinic in Faifield. I was so upset, but i worry more for my dog's health and safety. they didn't help us. I will attach the conversation text i had with this staff/vet. I'm glad we went to other clinic Cal west and they accommodated us. All staff and doctors were very nice. They really took their time to attend to my dog. They're so patient and enthusiastic and have high respect to their customers. I'm very happy for the excellent service.

We are relatively new to the area (1+ yer in Fairfield). I did a lot of looking and chose B & R for our Labrador Charlie... they did a check up and he did great. No anxiety, he is older dog at 13 at the check up time. Unfortunately, last week he had a stroke while at home. We waited and hoped he would get better (for him) but he didn't and after a three days we took him to B & R. They checked him, told us that he wouldn't get better but we had options. After discussing with my daughter (whose dog it was) she agreed to let him cross the rainbow bridge. The staff was wonderful and helped my young daughter with all the choices and time... I am very thankful. FYI, routine shots about $105 to $145...

My dog died sooner than he should have due to Dr. Russum's ego and negligence. He damaged my dog's trachea during a surgery he really didn't need, but Dr. Russum insisted, and I trusted him!!!!!! He also prescribed a very pricey medicine for my dog knowing full well that he should have waited until he had the blood test results back - 1 day later!! Again, I trusted Dr. Russum to have my dog's best interest at heart. I'm still paying for the medicine!!! I asked to have my dog seen by another vet in the office, but Dr. Russum insisted he needed to be in charge. Be careful- the arrogance and ego in that office could be detrimental to your beloved pet. My trust was misplaced!!

Do not take your pet here! They do not care for the well-being of your pets/family! First and foremost, horrible customer service by phone and in person. The girls at the front desk are rude, short & inconsiderate and do not know how to do their jobs! When I walked in there, it was a zoo/circus! They are all over the place! As I try to call first, before I come in, the girl on the phone did not give me a straight answer and told me to go somewhere else and hung up on me. So I decided to go down there instead and got the same treatment. Unbelievable how this establishment is run. Take your pet somewhere else where you can get better care and better service. Also, they need new staff members with professionalism and being well trained in this field. I would give this place a -5 stars !!!

I had to wait to write the review- since I wanted to be objective. We have been long time customers of Barney & Russum. They were awesome and I would not go anywhere else. BUT it has changed. My Shih Tzu woke up sick and was getting progressivey worse as day went on (Sept 2022). We called to try to get her seen. A young man answered- was short & rude. Said there was no way to get her seen- They were busy with no appt's. We would have to take her to the ER. I called around town- desperate for an appt anywhere. I couldn't get an appt. The Er they referred me to was closed until the evening. As I watched the life leaving my girl I took her to Barney & Russum as a last ditch hope. Imagine my surprise when the parking lot was empty- not a sole in the waiting room.. No one- just the employees. My girl died on the spot. Not saying that she would still be here today if they had offered to see her- but she might have been. Their behavior was unprofession not to mention unconscionable!!! Never again.
