I don't know where to begin. If you are currently trying to move, I would avoid this company like the plague! From the lack of responsiveness, to the fact that they didn't show up on our scheduled move date, and now the fact that they blew through our delivery date and we have no end in site as to when we will receive our truck full of everything we own! This has been one of the worst experiences in my life! Our moving coordinator has blown us off and is non-responsive and Bill Mee who did the original bid lies to us every time he talks to us. Chipman you should be ashamed of yourself and not in the business of moving people!

I recently used Chipman Relocation to move from the Bay Area in CA to Maine. I chose Chipman because they were referred to me by a Bay Area local moving company that did not travel to the east coast, Lulu's. Before I contacted them I had been searching on-line and was finding lots of 'cheap' movers - but they all wanted my money right away and it felt sleezy. Once I spoke with John Coletti at Chipman Relocation I knew I was in good hands. Were they more expensive than the on-line barkers I found? Yes - with good reason. They took care of me! First, they only contract with Mayflower and United. This means there is always a truck available. The on-line brokers were scrambling to find vehicles and were not able to guarantee my dates until they actually found a truck to use. Second, John Coletti was very patient answering all my questions, and I had LOTS of them. He was always prompt in answering my emails or returning my calls. The video walk-through was extremely helpful and because I wanted to save money by packing boxes myself he also suggested several places to purchase good moving boxes. He also offered great suggestions that helped with my planning. Next, I was turned over to Quenisha Burns. Again - she was fabulous! I continued to have questions as the moving date got closer and she was always prompt in getting back to me. I never felt like I was bothering her or wasting her time. The clear communication with both John and Quenisha helped keep my head focused and calm during this stressful phase of my life. The moving crew was excellent, I'm sorry I didn't think to write their names so I could mention each of them individually. I felt very comfortable with all of them as we moved through the house and I pointed out the things they were taking out. They treated my belongings with extreme care, including my new treadmill which was a BEAST to load! Once my things were in the truck I was turned over to the crew in Maine - they were great as well. Quenisha helped again by getting me connected with the office in Maine so I could request the best time of day to deliver my things to the storage unit. All my belongings arrived in the same condition as the day they were loaded in CA and in the time frame I was given. AND.... the icing on the cake.... I'm receiving a REFUND because I had less items than I showed during the video walk through! So yes, I highly recommend Chipman Relocation, your money will be well invested and your mind will be at ease!

I am so disappointed by damage done to my things by Chipman Relo. I had high hopes for their company, had excellent care from United Mayflower before. John Coletti was very easy to work with on the front end, as was Ms. Paulette Harris. BUT the actual move was disheartening. The 3 loads on the truck were unloaded/reloaded mid move - extra handling. When it arrived here, 2650 miles later, it was unloaded into a storage unit (because of the housing shortage) and was hastily unpacked by a local company they contracted. Most of the work was done, solely, by a small young woman who could not read English or understand FRAGILE. Many of my things were fragile and it was evident that she was new to moving. Her manager, on the phone most of the time with other crews, offered occasional assistance. A large box fell out of the truck while I watched. She struggled with larger boxes and piled them on a hand cart and ran with it. The driver was inside loading the unit. Six months later, I found a home. I didn't want to use their contracted company again because of the inept loading experience. I hired a local company with an excellent record to move the items to my home and to be especially careful in case there was damage by the previous mover. The 3 young men were careful and respectful of my things. As they moved items out of the unit, they found damage - a broken framed artwork, unwrapped, unboxed, at the back wall of the unit behind a stack of rugs with the strut from a lamp table almost as if they had been hidden. The table, light and fragile, was found near the back, with its broken side to the wall. Movers stopped each time to tell me about damage before touching it. The table had been dropped on a corner, badly scuffed, a leg cracked, and a strut broken out. Two Chinese officer's chairs also not wrapped or boxed, and light and fragile, had arms cracked loose and wobbly, which movers pointed out to me. I called Ms. Harris from the storage unit and she said she would try to have someone out to look at the damage. I told her I had to be out of the unit in 3 days, another client was waiting for it. The crew was careful loading all the boxes into my home. One large, heavy box contained 3 vintage pottery bowls from Morocco and a stained glass piece. Bowls were nested inside of each other, each in one sheet of paper, with the stained-glass on the top, stack turned on its side, with the stained-glass resting on its broken side. No bumpers in the bottom of the box to cushion it, just scant pieces of paper. The largest bowl was also broken into 4 pieces. Large 26" terrarium with a metal roof was crushed - too tall for its box, no packing around the top. It was evident that all damaged items were not properly packed. Damaged items are still in the boxes with original packing. Many framed pieces of art, each wrapped in one sheet of paper and stacked together, had nicks in them where hanging hardware scratched and dented the next frame behind it. I filed a claim, submitted 4-5 photos of each item, got estimates for repairs, but due to Covid and holidays, it took months to find shops to respond. I submitted the claim asking for only for repair of damage. A search for value of the Moroccan bowl on the Internet indicated it might be valuable, so I paid a highly qualified appraiser to evaluate it. Irreplaceable, she submitted a value for the bowl. My research found table and chairs listed on 1st Dibs - Baker Furniture Michael Taylor Collection. Chipman had the packet of information from 2/14/22 until I was notified on 4/27/ that I had a DocuSign from them. I called to see if I could appeal and was told that it was a No-Fault damage, and nothing could be done. I had replacement coverage in my contract, and it was evident that damage was from poor packing and hasty handling X 4 (inc transfer from 1 truck to another). I put in a lot of work to be careful, fair and honest in my reporting. The settlement was less than 19% of the cost of the repairs and the replacement value of the bowl in my claim. I made many calls before signing r

Our family unfortunately used United Van Lines/Chipman Relocation to move 1100 miles from California. The move by United out of California was fine. However, the move to our destination was horrible. First of all, it took more than two weeks to go the 1100 miles because the driver was waiting in California to fill his truck with other clients. Secondly, when he did arrive, the first thing that happened was an altercation between the driver and our new next door neighbor since cars were having difficulty getting around his poorly parked truck. Thirdly, the team of four people he hired were not the local United personnel as had been promised. Instead, for two of the four, this was the first time at moving anyone professionally. A lot of our furniture was damaged and thousands of dollars of household belongings and hifi equipment was lost. One of the movers told us that there had been a mix-up of boxes with the three other loads on the truck. We had signed up for complete coverage. When we filed our claim, we were given a run-around that lasted for 9 months before we received any compensation. We were only compensated for 30% of our losses and damage when it should have been 100%. Along the way, we had been lied to and misled by United, including their corporate office in St. Louis. I strongly urge anyone who reads this abbreviated review to stay away from United Van Lines and Chipman Relocation (California). 50% of our move was without customer service and was a debacle.

I am close to 5 stars on this and it is only because there was some damage and I didn't realize I did not have full insurance until the truck was loaded...BUT...I think with any move things will happen and I suspect it is more about how the company responds than anything else. Also I have waited a few months to see how this all turned out. I was moving from Fair Oaks to Brentwood and I got several quotes. Some of these local guys want to give quotes over the phone or not come out, but Chipman sent out someone who provided an accurate and competitive quote. I also did not want to move in one day, so Chipman packed one day, loaded the next, and moved it on the third. I had taken most of my valuable things down myself and that is never a bad idea. They arrived on time, did a great job of packing, loading and moving it all...same thing upon unloading...all really professional. I was downsizing my life and I have nice things but almost everything was protected and arrived safely. After getting it all unpacked I discovered that two lamps were ruined, my leather chair was scratched and my espresso maker was dropped and dented...I waited to write this until I saw what they did and I was quite pleased...comped me on the chair and lamps for fair value and even brought me a new espresso maker so I am made whole as they say. So, if you realize things will happen in any move I would recommend using Chipman as they really did a wonderful job when the dust settled and so as long as you expect some stress from a move and that a few eggs get broken when you make the omelet I think you cannot go wrong over most other movers, who I refer to as "two guys and a truck." Plus I worked with Bill and Tammi and they are extremely professional and dealt with me fairly, on time and made sure in the end I was pleased so I wanted to complement them so folks will use them as I did with confidence.

Cimber Dahlstrom was the coordinator for our move with Mayflower. She was very professional, friendly and proactive with our needs. Definitely made the whole process go smoother!

I used this service through Mayflower/United to move across multiple states. Because of where I lived a shuttle service was required for pick up and drop off at the new location. The only reason there's four stars instead of five is the first shuttle service. They took poor care of my items and when they arrived at the new location even that shuttle service was surprised how the items were handled. They also showed up with more man power than I was told and one even showed up hours late, whom I assume still got full pay. I think the Mayflower/United got scammed for money since my estimate was fixed price I didn't pay for the extra crew or late individual. Aside from the first shuttle crew the rest of my experience was great. My estimator Ryan Fichtner was a great first contact that worked with me through the height of the Covid scare and my move. The move coordinator Cimber Dahlstrom was amazing though waiting for our items. She kept me informed on the status of the items and the estimated delivery day, even when it got delayed a couple days (which I was reimbursed for). The claim service, specifically Tammi Turnage, was a saving grace. With the status of some of my items in poor condition when they arrived improperly packed by the initial crew, she worked with me and was able to find a very fair middle of the road. The communication from Cimber and Tammi was amazing, I never felt ignored or forgotten. I would recommend this company again but I would be very specific on the shuttle they use. I would also fully document the shuttle actions with pictures or video as it would have helped in the claims at the end if the issue repeated.

We hired Mayflower/United to move our belongings from CA. to CO. The reason for the poor rating is when our goods arrived in CO. to unload the people to unload showed up, but did not stay because we had a long drive way and they thought they were going to have to carry it up the drive. The truck driver and his 17 year old son started unloading a huge moving van by themselves. No one showed up to help them until 3:00. Those unloaders had already unloaded a van and so were tired. They were throwing the stuff in the house and piling it on top of each other etc. Then, when we had damage Mayflower/United did not want to take care of it. They had someone come out to repair furniture and he did not finish and they would not pay for him to return. Also, the furniture repair company could not do some repairs in the house and I has two table tops that needed to be refinished and I wanted to do that and Mayflower said no it cost too much.To me they did the damage so they should fix it. They did not see it that way. We ended up having to take what they would give us or go to arbitration and we were told by friends and neighbors that is a big huge mess and they we should not do that. So, beware if you think your items are covered by insurance think again. No one cares if you have nice stuff and they screwed it up. You will get a fraction of what you deserve. Do not expect their insurance to cover your damage. We moved with a Corporation 5 times before this move. All our stuff was insured and covered in those moves and we were taken care of. This time we paid for it ourselves and we were screwed.

Used Chipman for packing and moving a short distance. Crew was hard-working and pleasant but did not take good care of the furniture they moved. Still finding scratches and nicks as well as some actually broken parts of a bed set they were unable to put back together properly.

We moved from Sacramento CA to North Dallas, TX. We talked to and received estimates from several companies, but Brian from Chipman was certainly the most professional, friendly, and comprehensive (and, as it turns out, very accurate in his weight estimate). At one point, we needed to reschedule, and Chipman was very accommodating. Once we had our pack and load dates finalized, Cimber was super helpful in coordinating crews around our schedule. Len and his team did an excellent job of packing, and Ben and his crew did a great job of loading. The truck arrived in Texas right on time, and Edwin and his team efficiently unloaded our goods into our new home. Nothing broken, nothing lost, no issues at all. Great job and thank you, Cimber and Brian.

If you want thieves packing your home to relocate you, then this is your company! They stole my very expensive wedding ring and one of my designer belts, yet take no responsibility for either item. They sent me a $200 check instead and said it is my fault. Not trustworthy. Not reliable. This company is as crooked as they come.

They were wonderfully, starting with Brian from the sacramento warehouse, to Cimber who did the logistics, to Tom and his guys who did the packing and unpacking of the many boxes and everything else. When I starting the hunt for a mover, everyone wanted money upfront, but to come to find out no moving company can ask for a up front fee.
