Although their food selection is good, the shopping experience is depressing. Some aisles are completely locked up behind glass. The entrance and exits have barriers and gates so if you leave empty handed you must pass through the self checkout. You get the impression in there that they assume you'll shoplift and that you're not appreciated as a customer. And with their prices, they should appreciate their customers. The location is super convenient, but I wish shoppers were treated like guests instead of inmates.

I lived in Fairfield for the past three years and this Safeway has a lot of rude employees. I've gone to this location at different hours but the worse time to go is at night when only the self check out counters are open and no one acknowledges you, not the person supervising the self check out area, not the security guards no one and they could be right in front of you. Last time I was there, the security guard, the person in charge of supervising the self check out, and it looked like potentially the manager or supervisor they all were chilling at the register in front of me, and not one of them acknowledged me or even bother to say hello bye or thank you they were gossiping and chilling.

This is the most frustrating Safeway I have ever shopped in. I have ordered groceries for pick up in the past, and can't park in the Drive and Go spots because of people being parked in the spots to shop. Some of the basic items they don't carry. They only have 2 cashier's at a time, with 1 being the express line of you have less than 15 items. The food in the deli does not look fresh nor appetizing. It's difficult to find employees for help on the floor. I would not recommend this location. If you can, take a drive to Vacaville to that Safeway. This store is not it.

The new self checkout are awful and, humiliating . Its recording you an shows u ur self it pauses an alerts the worker to come check if your stealing often an it's unreasonable .The problem is the system isn't functioning correctly. Which is humiliating to treat everyone like a criminal. when you switch food from ur hand from right to left . I scan with my right hand because I'm right handed obviously. Then switch the product to my left hand to place it on scale so system can recognize the weight of item to verify that I'm purchasing it. The scale is on the left side so it makes sense to switch my product from my right hand to my left hand instead of reaching all the way over with my body and place it down with my right hand . It's more efficient and makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the camera scanning my entire body an questioning why I'm placing a product down with my left hand . Why is the system questioning that I'm moving the product from my right hand to my left hand. It's policing me an scanning me . Then the system accusing me of stealing an having a worker verify. Which is fine because I wasn't but the way it set up is degrading . When the system should see that the product I just scanned is the weight of the product that I just placed down on the scale. The only reason why the system should ask for verification is if the weight is off on the scale or if the product was not placed on the scale after being scanned. Not ask for verification because it's watching my hands , when the product weight is correct on the scale . That is reasonable because the system needs to verify the purchase. It happen three times to me because I had a normal amount of groceries to last about a week. This is a problem a people aren't going to put up with this .This is fairly new, and I would hope the company would reconsider fixing this. Humiliating your customers isn't good for business. Going to go back and record this happing a put this on ticktock.

Omari, our clerk was amazing! He was courteous, knowledgeable, and wonderfully respectful! I was so incredibly grateful for his help. He allowed my 9 year old to bag the groceries- He was so patient. Overall it was his kindness that made the visit a 10 in my book! Is definitely a peaceful end to the day.

Was passing by Fairfield today when I made a pitstop to this Safeway to pick up some groceries. As many other Yelpers have mentioned, there is only 1 way in and 1 way out. This honestly did not bother me too much, although the front entrance gets rather congested if you attempt to stop to grab something displayed at the front. I attempted to pick out some fruit, but quickly decided to head to the produce section instead due to the above-mentioned reason. As well as the fact that they apparently failed to place any plastic bags at the front for me to put fruit into. While this Safeway is decently sized with well-stocked shelves, the aisles themselves are very cramped together. So it was often difficult for people to maneuver around each other while shopping. Despite this, all the patrons I encountered here were all very friendly and cordial, and we all just yielded to one another as we passed. The self-check out registers are at the very end of the store here, and also serve as the exit for people not purchasing anything. Surprisingly, despite lines at all the other registers, the self-check out registers was completely empty. Guessing the placement was not very obvious so most people did not know it was there. All of the employees I briefly encountered here were all super friendly. The restroom which I used briefly had filthy floors that definitely could have used a good mopping. But this seems to be a common problem at many Safeway locations. The parking lot was huge, but was quite full when I visited. One glaring thing the lot was lacking was cart corrals, so I was forced to either abandon my cart in an empty spot like everyone else did, or walk it all the way back to the store.

To be fair, the staff here is very nice.. However, they lock up a lot of merchandise and it's difficult to get anyone to help. Also, they do not answer the phone... I waited 15 minutes at the pharmacy to ask a question and called 3 times while I was waiting, but they do not answer the phone and you can't leave a message

I have to say this Safeway is poorly run. You have to check dates on everything. They don't remove outdated items from shelves. Now that they closed one entrance that leaves only 2 handicap spots close to the entrance. The 3 logical spaces that should be added near the entrance are the online pickup spaces. I sent a comment on the Safeway website and never heard back. They don't care. I wonder if the ADA can get involved. I drive the extra miles to another Safeway that is much better.

Jason store floor manager was absolutely rude and unfortunately no manners as far as how he talk to me. Definitely needs a few courses of how to treat customers. He just blew up on me for complaining about some ham that went bad within five days. He walk away and after I said I was going to call and send video yo corporate office he came back within seconds and said I don't have to help you.... gave me a store credit and said here you can go now. I'm in disbelief of this incident. He's to treat customers the right way and be a Leader. Waiting for Dlr store Melissa Varvas to call me in regards to this official complaint . Posting video on social media if they don't apologized for Jason's rud behavior. Thanks this is a Safeway customer.

I just want to give a definite 5 stars to the Safeway Bakery on Waterman in Fairfield. The 1/2 sheet 1st birthday cake I ordered was a delicious moist marble with raspberry filling. it was decorated with a copy of a photo I gave them and the theme I wanted and a good price compared to like Nugget . I will definitely use them again .

They lock their customers inside the store now. If you pop in for a quick second and don’t find what you need, you have to wait in line or find an associate to let you out. When an associate yelled at me telling me I couldn’t go out the way I came, I told them I’m not buying anything and they told me I have to go around. I went to that register and the cashier let me walk through. All those unnecessary steps for the same result. It’s very uncomfortable and redundant, and they need to have a better system for this. I see other customers complaining about the same problem. I don’t even want to shop here anymore because it was so embarrassing. Raley’s is nearby and I would now recommend them over this place for an easier shopping experience.

Safeway has now locked you in the store. I went in and didn't find what I needed and tried to leave and had to have an associate let me out. Safeway, I do not feel comfortable being locked inside your store. I will surely find somewhere else to shop. I understand you need to protect you assets but by locking customers in your store? No thank you

They made it worse than an airport with all the new security. If you're that worried about stealing then don't have self check out. Never coming back
