Heart sank from that visit. Nothing like it used to be. Service was standing around talking, kinda blocking the way? Seems like the gear quality has fallen to shambles. They had more broken/ returned items than stock for shoes?? And that no problem return policy seems to be now one season..
Can I cash out my membership? Years of supporting a cool community, now just another over priced junk retailer.

Atari Ice Candy Store!!! But this is definitely the smallest REI I've ever been in I've been in many of them and this is definitely the smallest but it's still a small candy store

Came into this REI with one goal - getting man Chacos. James heard us asking for them and told us the story of the chacos shortage this summer. He was very helpful and pointed us to the TEVAs selection. We left as changed people and a Chaco/Teva couple💚💚💚

We had a great experience at the REI in Folsom thanks to Francisco! He was friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about sneakers and hiking boots.
What really stood out was how much time he took to walk us through the different options, explaining the features, fit, and function of each one. We didn’t just walk away with the right gear—we left understanding so much about what to look for in sneakers the tips and tricks to make your sneakers and hiking boots fit better.
Francisco made the whole process easy and enjoyable. His attention to detail and genuine interest in helping us find what was best for us was truly appreciated. It's rare to find someone so dedicated to great customer service and making sure you walk away with exactly what you need. Francisco is a true asset to the REI team—thank you for such a positive experience! Definitely would come back again.

Came in on Monday evening to buy a bike for my 11 year pld son during the Labor Day weekend sale. The blonde guy in the bike department was curt and dismissive. My boyfriend asked me if he thought he was being sexist because he looked to him and not me to answer my questions. He may know everything about bikes, but he was rude and not remotely helpful with my questions. This was a very special birthday gift for my son who was there and this guy just just couldn't be bothered to pretend to care. He told me to order the bike online, which I did only to discover that although it appeared available online, it was actually sold out so I had to go through the trouble of having a different associate help me get the refund. If I wanted to shop online I would have done so, but I deliberately went to this store because I wanted friendly, knowledgeable service. This is not the REI I remember. Sad.

I took my 91 year old Dad to be fitted for new shoes. Kelly from the shoe department was amazing. She was patient, informative and ensured that he was well taken care of. I highly recommend this REI for shoes & Thank YOU Kelly!
