“While it could've been organized better, for a dollar tree in Fresno this place was really nice and big. I came just to look around and of course left out with $60 worth of stuff and a new project that my boyfriend is going to lose his mind over haha. The lady at the register was funny and really nice. We joked about how our partners say we ladies go in here and get stuff we don't need, if we're getting it, we need it! It looks like they're starting to try to incorporate that $5+ section, I've only seen it in the south so far. Their food section had items over $1 like the updated dollar trees, so don't be surprised when you see a $5+ aisle one day. I love this dollar tree. I almost bought so many jars! And for what!!? I don't know. And the bins/containers! So organized that I almost bought that too, knowing that I have nothing to put in them haha. The party aisle was really organized and color coded as well, I started mentally prepping for a party! 10/10 recommend. There are some homeless people that gather outside though, other than that, they were too themselves in my opinion, or as much as a homeless person needing money would be. This didn't make me want to leave though”

“Usually find what I need and then some here. Just wish the aisles were not always full of inventory boxes. Most days there are many aisles you cannot enter or IF you can enter you cannot access items due to inventory boxes. I know there are NEVER enough employees to run register and stock at same time, never understand that management choice. They need to hire additional people or at least part time people to do nothing but stocking so the aisles are free and safe to enter.”
“It's obviously not wallyMart and definitely not waldreems but it's a great place to go if you're in a hurry to get either one thing or lots of things. I go in my super relaxed clothes to find batteries, dish soap, doggie treats or even hair products and socks. They don't have too much of a selection of different brands of similar products but they have a lot of great things that I'd need if I didn't wanna make an extra to a bigger supermarket or superstore. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, it's clean, not overwhelmingly crowded, and just around the block from our house. 5 stars for sure!”

“This is without a doubt one of my favorite thrifts in Fresno. I always leave with a bag full of amazing finds! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the cashiers and manager have always greeted me with a smile. I frequent thrifts around the Central Valley, and I don't get that same professional and welcoming atmosphere. When I go there I feel comfortable to take my time and look around. I mainly thrift for vintage clothes and antiques, and there's a wonderful selection here the past few times I've been in (I have to quit halfway through because I'm exhausted/have too much stuff already, so I still haven't made it to the bric-a-brac ?). Also, the store is extremely clean and organized. A lot of thrifts have a musty/dusty aroma, but this one is truly a breath of fresh air (no pun intended)! Keep in mind that Goodwills don't have dressing rooms, but they do have mirrors at the end of aisles to try things on over your clothes. I like to wear a pair of leggings and a tank top to make it easy. There is a lot of room to walk around the store (it's not cramped like a lot of the other thrifts). The racks are well-kept and not packed so tightly that you can't browse quickly. I might be wrong about this, but I do believe that this Goodwill allows returns for a few days after purchase (has to be at this same location where you purchased the item at). I just moved out to the country near this area, and I didn't realize how many stores are out here (Walmart is down the street and they just built a Ross/are building a Target nextdoor). Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
