In my opinion this place is overpriced, understocked, and the employees will lie to you.Was told that seasonal ski rentals are until April 1st but if we call the store they would be flexible and extend it if the season goes longer so we rented for the season with the word of the employee.April 1st, I call and they tell me that is incorrect and we have to return them today and rent a new set daily for any day we want to go. As frustrating as it is to be told one thing and then another I took the skis in for return.Then, the employee who accepted the return, was clearly having a bad day because he was taking it out on customers who were trying to solve issues. I asked if I could get a receipt for the return (or anything that shows I returned the skis) and he huffed and puffed then sent me an email of the rental contract (not something that says I returned the skis).I would take my business elsewhere if I were you.

You know, I could just camp out in this establishment and call it a vacation. I went in looking for something specific I needed . I do have challenges so I had my Walker with me. I guess I was looking lost and one of the staff came to my assistance. She figured out what I needed though it was up stairs. She then went upstairs got the item I needed. That was above and beyond in my book.

Don’t order online from this company if you don’t want to waste your time! They lose orders and take forever to ship. Tell you that they’ll send you tracking info but they never do.

Never been greeted by staff downstairs near the registers. They gather and seem to have cliques. But some of the staff on the second floor working the shoe department greet you with a friendly hello. Love the staircase and plants too!

Overall, I had a great experience at the store. They had all of the equipment that I needed in order to climb half dome while the cables are down. However, two of the staff members tried to make me feel guilty, and hold onto the harnesses when I was trying to return them. They said that REI has to “destroy them“ if they get returned, which is unfortunate and wasteful, I agree. But this is not an issue that the customer should be responsible for, REI ought to find a better solution for climbing, harnesses and their membership guarantee. Since they are so close to half dome they ought to consider a rental program or harness sales with blatant disclaimers about them being used. That way all liability lies within the purchaser. Again, overall experience was fine, just don’t make me feel bad about utilizing the best perk of the membership.

Friendly staff and clean store. Unfortunately, im giving it a 4 star due to the merchandise in the store. Seems limited compared to other REIs I've visted in Sacramento and bay area.

Firstly, I love REI. But today two of their sales persons failed. Huge fail, 500 dollar fail. For the first time ever I experienced what I can only describe as used car sales tactics. Two on one, both pushing a produce without full disclosure or limitations. Anyone going there don't let yourself be lured in by their seemingly selfless service, not all of the sales reps are looking out for the customers best interests.

The two guys at the register were very rude when I was checking out. One of them with brown hair acted like he was new so I can kind of understand it but the black haired guy was rude to me and his coworker. Usually when I shop at REI I have good experiences but today made me feel very uncomfortable. The two ladies that usually work at the register should stay at the register and let the guys that act like they don’t want to be on the job do something where they don’t take it out on the customers. Very disappointed with today’s experience.??

Sam and the women at the counter were incredible. I've never had a in store experience that was based on just giving just quality information, no shady sales tactics, and no buyers remorse. We were first timers going to yosemite and these guys gave us the best information. Without them we would have either died in the park or would have not even made it all together. I cant more recommend this store for not only equipment but quality advice.love my new shoes thanks Sam.

This store has incredibly friendly and helpful employees! ..specifically Sam, who was so very willing and eager to help me find the perfect running shoe. It really meant a lot. He was patient and I could ask any questions and he was present the whole time! Thanks again!
