Since I would rather support a local small business and I didn't have to drive over the hill from the coast, this was an easy choice. I made an appointment for two days later, arrived early, and they got right on it. Not only did they have it done in under an hour, they came in $80 under the estimate. Great service at more than competitive pricing, and I got to stroll around HMB on a quiet morning. For those of you "over the hill", it would be worth coming here and making a coast day. “A few months ago, I took my 2018 VW Atlas in for an oil change, tire rotation, and recommended 40,000 mile maintenance. Their mechanic left air in my brakes and, as I was driving to work, the brake pedal went to the floor and I was unable to stop my vehicle if it was going at speeds above 30mph! When I drove back to the shop, needless to say, I was not happy. After leaving it to flush the air from the brake line, Jim (service manager) apologized profusely and summarily fired that mechanic (who also said I needed rear brakes replaced, which Jim inspected and said was not the case, saving me $600+). Jim then gave me two free oil changes as compensation. They do excellent work, are communicative, and, as is clear from the above, have INTEGRITY!”

“When my 2015 Outback started sputtering while accelerating at lower speeds, I took it to Carlsen Subaru and they couldn’t diagnose it. Stevens Creek Subaru told me it was a coil pack, which they replaced, but that didn’t fix the problem either. They did discover seeping engine oil and quoted me such a massive bill that they suggested I buy another car. Thank goodness I found Barinder and Boxer Specialist. He discovered Stevens Creek put in the wrong coil pack, resealed the cam carrier and my Outback is running perfectly again. From now on I’m only going to Boxer. I highly recommend.”

“PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to Specialized Auto Care Center for your car needs! They are open everyday of the week until 10 PM. I've been servicing my cars there for years from oil change to complicated engine diagnostics. Recently sunny swapped the engine of my 2014 Toyota Corolla with the lowest cost compared to any other places. They swapped the engine within a day and I've had no issues since the work was done a couple of months ago. Response time is quick and I had a great customer service experience. Sunny is very friendly and professional.”

“I brought my Previa transmission here 10yrs ago. It had a freshly rebuilt engine and the shop I was at decided to ignore the transmission (I asked them to have it rebuilt while the engine was out).Anyways, I brought here, we set up a time to drop it and within 3 days it was done.I was sent pictures of the burnt planetary gears. So everything was changed out and also a shift kit added.I swear I made this review a long time ago, but maybe Google erased it.Even to this day, the Previa is running strong.”

“My maintenance required light and low tire pressure light both came on within two weeks of moving to the area. As a female I HATE getting car stuff done. I've experienced being charged more or upsold just because I'm a woman. I found HCC on yelp and put in a call. They're connected to the 76 gas station. They were able to get me in same day to change my oil, rotate my tires, and adjust my tire pressure same day. Randy is very kind and the people working with him all seemed diligent and happy to be there. The prices are reasonable & they worked quickly to help me get out of there. Being new, Randy even took to the time to tell me where I could walk to and explore while they worked. Really nice.”
“Is it weird to leave a 5-star review for a repair shop that didn't do any actual repairs? If so, too bad...I'm doing it anyway. Sal and his dad (I think) are honest, competent mechanics and I'd use them again in a heartbeat.A week or so ago, my 20-year-old Lexus RX developed sudden and serious transmission problems. Neither of my usual repair shops here in HMB do transmissions, but both of those shops recommended Coast Transmissions. We had it towed there, and their diagnosis was that it needed a full transmission replacement...$7K, on a car that's not worth more than about $5K. Their advice was to NOT do the job. Already a good sign--Sal was upfront about the situation even though it meant turning down a job.Better yet, once I decided to donate the car to charity, Sal was incredibly helpful in letting me leave the car there for a week and then working with the pick-up company, plus letting me know once it had been taken away.These guys are honest and easy to deal with. I recommend them with no hesitation.”
