“Davey is the best! I had some car issues on a 2014 model with 175K miles. He had it diagnosed in minutes and had my car running again in a few hours. While waiting in his lobby, I watched a number of customers come in and Davey engaged with each and every one of them like they were his friends and neighbors. He listened, was patient, and told them exactly what they needed to hear. His pricing is fair and, in these days of price gouging and upselling, he stays true to the policies his father, Dave Senior, started with when he opened the shop when Davey was still a kid: fair, friendly, and thorough. They sent updates throughout and were on time in completion. They even helped fixed something else I asked about at the very end and even gave me some very helpful free advice on how to fix something myself. I took my classic Impala for a transmission service and brake pedal issue. They completed the transmission service and diagnosed the brakes the same day. This shop did its due diligence and properly corrected the issues with my car. I was expecting a large bill for the work but they are very reasonable. These are honest family men with a love for what they do. They even hand washed my car.”

I’ve been taking both of my cars to Half Moon Bay Smog for about six years, and they’ve earned my trust every single time. They’re local, friendly, straightforward, and super easy to work with — the kind of shop you feel good recommending.
They’ve handled smog checks, oil changes, and brakes for me, and the service is always quick, fair, and professional. What really pushed me to write this review, though, was my most recent visit: I was thinking my Prius needed rear brakes and was bracing for a couple hundred bucks… but he checked everything carefully and told me I didn’t need them yet. No upsell, no pressure — just honest advice and money saved.
