Not great. Went in today to return something I bought online. The whole store looks like something out of the 80s.
Two sales associates were arguing in front of me. On top of that, the AC in the store is broken. It’s super hot in the store compared to the rest of the mall. One sales associate told me yeah it’s broken and management won’t fix it. How can you expect people to spend time browsing a store and potentially spend money there if it’s too hot in the store and people will want to leave right away due to this.

The woman working the returns and exchange department at the southland mall location, seemed to be mentally disabled and didn’t know how to return the item. So instead she turned me away by saying the item couldn’t be returned due to the tags not being attached. When clearly on the JCpenney site states that all they need is a receipt. Crazy how you let a person who can barely speak, run that department alone.
Update: went to concord J.C. Penney and they returned the item with no questions asked. They actually know the policy.

I didn't realize personally how underrated I believed JCP to be. However they have tons of selection. Great prices, good sales, lots to choose from from kids to adults.

I helped my 93 yo father buy a new mattress and box spring. I called JC Penney and spoke with an agent and ordered a Queen bed and low profile box spring (so my dad could easily get into bed). The first date that my dad was emailed that it was coming, I made sure I made the 120 mile round trip to be there for the arrival. No one showed up. The phone number given only went to voicemail! I called numerous times! I called Penney’s and no one knew where the mattress was.
Attempt #2, the mattress arrived, but the wrong box spring came. My father told the driver that we would exchange the box spring with Penney’s, but needed to keep this one until the exchange, so my dad had a bed. The Customer service person could not do a three way call with my dad, and I explained that at 93 yrs old it was VERY difficult for my dad to navigate your phone system and explain the problems. She told me that I would then need to pay $283 to purchase a new box spring and PROMISED me that I would get reimbursed when the new one came. I put this amt on MY credit card and questioned why this was necessary when we were doing a simple exchange, because the WRONG box spring was sent.
3rd attempt. The box spring was delivered, but the delivery man REFUSED to put the bed back together! He wouldn’t put it on a bed frame! My dad was beside himself and his caregiver called me. We sent my 62 yr old brother over who lives 2 1/2 hrs away to my dad’s so he could assemble the bed so my dad could lay down!!!
I waited 3 days to get reimbursed. I have not gotten reimbursed. My father got an email saying he was given a credit for the mattress for all his troubles, but I have not been reimbursed on MY CREDIT CARD AS Promised. I have called twice now and was promised a call back. Nothing yet. Half the time the calls go off shore, and when I ask to escalate the call, I’m told ‘They can handle it’. They then keep wanting to talk to my dad, but they won’t let me do a three way call. It’s my credit card, so I don’t see why he needs to be on the phone. Your company makes it IMPOSSIBLE for seniors to navigate your system.
My dad does like his mattress. But the customer service and delivery service is terrible

Big selection of athletic shoe wear. But the latest advertising for some brands misleading: sale price is only valid with BOGO 1/2 price point. Online ad does not mention this caveat. Simple states (for example): $29.99 for Fila (no mention of buying 2 shoes for sale price). That is dishonest. Disappointing to say the least. ?

I like the quality of the clothes. I am a very frequent customer of this store. The problem is that I went shopping and the cashier charged me two kisses for an item when I got home. We realized this when we returned to get back what they charged us. extra they did not want to return the money people check the receipts before leaving the store

It is a place where the same employees steal from you, they charge you up to 3 times for things and when you complain why they do it, they do not give you any explanation or return your money. I do not recommend these places.
