“Kapel is very polite, he is usually working most times and they have pretty much every alcohol beverage you can think of. If you let them know they don’t have it, they will try and get it.”
“I revisited this store after a year and was amazed by the transformation under the new ownership. It’s incredibly clean and well-organized. The owner is exceptionally courteous and welcoming. The wine and liquor collection, especially premium selections like Yamazaki, is outstanding. Highly recommend checking it out — a hidden gem!”
“First time to K&L in close to 20 years. I was a but surprised at the small selection of Cabernet and Merlot, but I don't drink much of that anymore these days so not a big deal. Good selection of Italian and German wines”

“Great local corner store. Owners and staff are friendly, kind and dedicated to serving the community. Huge selection of wine plus all the essentials.
I’ve been coming here since the day the owners took over back in the 90s. They’ve seen me grow up and are always happy to chat about life. Thank you for always being there for us!”
“We didn’t think we would find a place to smoke a cigar and enjoy some drinks in San Francisco while we were here for a conference , but Occidental was our home away from home. The owner and bartenders are great and very welcoming. Excellent selection of bourbons, whiskeys and wine, plus a few beers on tap.”
“The Mecca of Whisk(e)y can be found here! They have an extensive selection from all over the globe, so it can be a lot to take in. Be sure to ask for guidance from their knowledgable staff!”
“Great wine shop in the neighborhood! Went in looking for a recommendation and walked out with a great wine that was a winner. Great selection and very helpful. Try it out!”

“We went here for a yelp event and had a GREAT TIME. The owners and staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the beer offerings, and the beers themselves are so unique (infused with Asian flavor) yet so refined and sophisticated. The space itself is open with plenty of open seating - I can see myself hanging out here for an entire night and just having a great time.”
“Best beer bottle/ can store in the world so far that I have found. Huge selection of premium beer. I drink ipa and they always have something I like. Especially Pliny the elder but I am always trying different ipa’s to see what’s out there. Super chill usually not too many people in there. Customer service is always chill (good thing)”
“I have not enjoyed drinks and food here yet. I look forward to it. I have been purchasing wine and spirits from Bryan for several years. His recommendations are spot on and keep me coming back.
Today I stopped by to pick up an order including the special Buffalo Trace bourbon in honor of “Beef”. I can tell Beef meant a lot to him and his wife. They are fostering dogs because of their love of rescues. We lost our rescues in 2023 and can relate to love they bring to our lives.
We will continue to support Good Times Oakland!”
“Stumbled upon this place when visiting Ghirardelli square and glad I peaked in. I see they have a lot of wine, but was surprised they have craft beer mostly from Armistice but they are great. The staff is quite friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.”
“Uncle Sam Liquor is one of the best liquor stores around. The staff is always friendly and respectful, and they have a great selection of drinks, snacks, and everyday items. The store is clean, organized, and the service is always fast. You can tell they care about their customers. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!”
“Can't get enough of this place! The selections are curated, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. While yes, they carry upscale products, they also carry some weekday-type wines and totally affordable and great cheeses. Dave, the owner, and Daniel, the cheese buyer, are both awesome. They recently helped me get a vegan Gruyere for my friend...how cool is that?
Also: this is a PERFECT place to get a nice gift.”
“I had a fabulous experience at Bay Grape. Whoever picked out the 3 wines for the wine tasting had the same taste buds as me. They were all so good! I look forward to going back.”
“What a great little shop. Love their meat and cheese selection, wines, beers and seltzers. Also their snack selection is top notch! Rare chocolates and chips and proper nuts and dried fruits. Love love love.”
“The staff is knowledgeable and very patient answering questions. The store is beautiful, well stocked and clean. Shopping at Sips is alw ays a pleasurable experience.”
“Outstanding selection of spirits and a limited but quality selection of wines. Blown away by the prices. For the location, I expected an extreme mark up. Not the case. What a gem.”
“Quick, generally kind and consistently helpful and efficient staff. Lines move pretty quickly. Sometimes there’s a security person in the parking lot, always friendly. I remain grateful for Trader Joe’s fair pricing. Their organic milk is 1-3 dollars less than other stores and they also have good egg prices. Thx for being a neighborhood mainstay for so many years. ??”
“Regular now honestly, I stopped in here on my lunch break today and was surprised. They had a bottle of Angel's Envy Cask Strength bourbon behind the counter that I hadn't seen anywhere else... I didn't buy it (lunch break!), but I'm gonna have to come back. It wasn't too busy either, which I appreciated.”
“Incredible staff. To the gentleman with unreal discipline that managed to single-handedly drive off a disgusting, savage mob, you have my eternal admiration. Anything negative happens on the back of this, set up a gofund me page or something like that.”
“Wonderful wine shop with a HUGE selection of reasonably priced wines, as well as a few $$$. The proprietor and staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I ducked in to grab a bottle and asked for a French in the $30-50 range was was pleasantly surprised when they recommended a $32 bottle instead of a $48 bottle. Way to make a sale and get a fan for life! They also do tastings, at least on the Friday I was there. I can't wait to go back and explore their selection more.”

“I love this place because it reminds me of the flagship Cost Plus store my mom used to take me to in Fisherman's Wharf when I was little. The Oakland store near Jack London square has international foods and papasan chairs and soaps that make nice gifts, as well as other eclectica, decor, and holiday items.”

“Just about the most convenient store I patronize. I go in. Always in stock with my favorite tequila. Never more than one customer ahead of me. If I have any questions. Clerk immediately comes from around the counter to assist . I pay and go. Thank you for being efficient and professional.”
“The kindest and most helpful customer service ever!! Absolutely love it here!! They really go above and beyond to assist their customers!! Much thanks to the staff”
“This is a nice liquor store what's great about is if you live close by and you're out of household items or you need something to drink or something to snack on this the place that you can go they also have the lottery which is a plus”
“Nice owner/staff with a little bar section in the back, which is a nice change of pace from bustling Polk St. (not to say that it doesn't fill it up quickly itself).”
“This shop is the perfect counter to those larger and expansive liquor stores. Here you don't need roller skates to get from one end of the store to the other, and one isn't forced to cruise through a snack-filled labyrinth of salt and oil tidbits. Here I can walk up to the owner and have a pleasant conversation about a wonderful French wine at a great price point, and then roll right into a conversation on Pac-12 football. Brian is a very engaging shopkeeper and he is an outstanding knowledge source on wines and spirits (and the Washington Huskies). I recommend you check out his shop, have a chat with Brian about what it is you're seeking, and he'll steer you in the right direction. You can't go wrong!”
“Great local wine shop, good selection, reasonable prices, and very friendly, helpful staff. I was looking for wines specifically from Napa or Sonoma, but the wines are arranged by grape type, not region, so it was a little hard to find bottles from particular areas. I told the guy working there what I was looking for and he immediately pointed out five or six bottles from the correct regions. I was impressed that he knew his stock so well.”
