“Just a delightful, charming, slightly eccentric (in the best way) little local bookstore. A much more intimate and gentle shopping experiencing than schlepping to Vroman's and fighting for parking. The staff is always so friendly, they do excellent (and free!) gift wrapping, and they are happy to order anything that they don't have in stock. I try to support them whenever I can.”

“Great selection of books, graphic novels, stickers and all kinds of other items. Super friendly staff and beautiful store. Independent bookstore offering much more for those interested in BIPOC artists. So glad to have stopped in while visiting from Dallas.”

“Don't know how anybody leaves here without carrying out a bag load of books!! Sweetened the deal with that little bar and coffee shop attached. If I lived any closer I'd be living here full time!”

“One helpful thing about the store use that it was arranged by topic. If the Japanese garden was your main interest, one section was devoted to it. It made finding books on herbs vs art history very easy to find. It was also very well-stocked. The herbal book we purchased, as well as the art book, we're of high quality. The staff were also very kind.”

“Didn't know about this Vroman's location till, well...a few days ago! It was a nice surprise to spot it on Foothill, so as a bookworm, I couldn't resist to check it out! It isn't as big as the main location on Colorado, I didn't expect that. But it has a decent size for your regular bookstore, with a great selection of Fiction, Kid's books, Young Adult. Very well stocked Bargain section, if you're looking for a good deal, search no more. Nice atmosphere, not crowded, attentive staff. Parking in front, decent lot! They also sell small gifts, toys, games, cards, etc. So lots of nice merchandise to check out. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area looking for your next read or a cool gift!”

“Found this gem recently. Wish I found this place sooner but glad that I have finally found this place. Although this place has mostly Chinese Christian books and Chinese bibles (that I don't need), but it does have random small cute things that you can buy. Bookmarks, water bottles, wall hangings, a few pens, decorations etc. Not a lot of quantity of every item, so get it while it's still there. Staff is friendly. The lady who helped me is super nice and I really like her a lot. They have Chinese Christian Calendars every year which I didn't know many people order from them. Their customer service is superb. I think all the Chinese churches in LA and OC all come here for their products unlike the other place I went to that closed down near by. I only found this place because of Yelp. So happy and so thankful. I'll be coming here whenever I am in town.”

“I had the pleasure of working for the owner of this bookstore, and I can tell you from personal experience that her heart is to bless others and give them resources to help grow them in their walk with the Lord.I also got to witness countless people who were blessed by what God is doing through Kings Cross.Highly recommend this business to anyone.”

“Nucleus Art Gallery is such a flex and cool art gallery in the heart of Alhambra on Main Street. There's plenty of free parking in the area. The Gallery is quite small, basically, one large room followed by a stairwell (with another gallery space along the walls) leading to a second floor for another gallery space exhibit. So they can hold about 3 different small exhibits, and I have to say I was really impressed with the exhibits! The curation is spot on! I do have to preface that I love art galleries and museums, and this is a stellar gallery. Walking around the area, it's sad to see so many empty spaces for lease. My wish is that the City of Alhambra can work with other nonprofits to create a museum row along Main Street that is of the same caliber as Nucueles, similar to when you go to Chinatown and find a row of various art galleries. Imagine all these empty storefronts turned into various galleries with different types of art and Friday or Saturday nights with art block parties. Just putting it out there. I bet the leases are high, but if the city can work out a contract to turn the area into a bustling art scene, it would be great for the community. Just my two cents and hope it can happen because Nucleus has set such a fantastic model of what more can be done in the area for the arts.”

“There are many books and workbooks that help children with their grades in class. The price is cheaper than regular bookstores. The owner is also friendly. Be sure to get a point card and use it.”

“Great service! I tried to send a gift certificate to my brother for his birthday through the mail, but it got lost by the post office. With one phone call, they saved the day - cancelled the mailed certificate and emailed him a happy birthday message with it attached. Kind, professional, efficient...the type of service that is hard to find anymore. Highly recommend.”

“Love this place!!! The staff is helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and kind. If they don't have what you are looking for they will order it for you and they gift wrap. The prices are great and they also have well made artisan products that are one of a kind. If you value literacy this is the place to visit. Children can safely learn and explore the magical world of Once Upon A Time!!!! Adults are welcome too :-)”

“They used to have a tons of books & gifts... but this time they barely have anything. Please take time to restock. Used to love bringing my nieces here... it's kind of sad now. *I revised my review based on the owner's time and effort to respond. And I understand the challenges they face. Will revise again after I visit the store. Thanks.”

“I can always find what I'm looking for & even things I didn't know I needed. The energy in here is always amazing...warm, welcoming & positive. Just all around great vibes! The staff is super knowledgeable & helpful. I came in once unsure of the exact stone I needed but was able to tell the gentleman helping me what energy I wanted & he helped me decide on a great Obisdian stone. I've also got my very first tarot deck from here.”

“Decent selection of Thai books and a very nice owner, she was quite conversational. Great selection of religious statuettes, jewelry and much more. This was one of the best stores I visited in LA!!!”

“Really cool bookstore with a great vibe, good book selection, and helpful staff. While they didn't have coffee or a lot of amenities like chairs and the like, this is a legit BOOK store. A ton of titles and a great selection. Definitely a bookstore to patronize while you are in Los Angels.”

“I'm just messing. LOL. I only wrote that review to see what kinda comeback burn she would come up with. That IHOP one was good! But it didn't make me laugh as hard as " another reason not to live in San Diego" comment on that other review ?. This is such a cool bookstore. Its got a cool vibe and layout. Pretty nice selection of books. Well done, well...done.”

“Small in size but beautifully curated bookstore, that actually have a sizable inventory. They cover all the basics but with a very strong fiction section and hard-to-find titles. The buyer for the store is excellent.”

“This store is wonderful and the owner, Alfred is very knowledgeable in all things military and print. I recently relocated my 93 year old father to LA to live with me. My father is a long time military and aviation book collector, rc aircraft enthusiast and fine oil paint aviation artist. Alfred offered a wealth of information on all those subjects and more as we make contacts in Los Angeles to liquidate my father's collections. Thanks Alfred, see you soon!”

“The exact vibe you want from a used bookstore. Overflowing shelves with new and old titles, a sleeping dog, and a cozy atmosphere. They even have a small children’s book section with a couch. Went in to browse and left with 5 books (oops!) but they were all well-priced so I could justify it to myself :) definitely worth a visit if you’re a book lover!”

“Came upon this book this book store since I was looking for something specific and was difficult to find. They had it and ordered it from their website. It arrived fast and in excellent condition. I recommend shopping with them, especially if you need shipping.”

“It can get confusing at first because there are two separate stores that are not connected to each other. I come here for the unique travel stories/guides and hard to acquire magazines (in chain bookstores). It also has a huge selection of graphic novels. A simple picture of the tree in the bookstore shows everyone in the LA area that you are at Skylight Books. A star is docked because I prefer another local bookstore with good seating area. However, Skylight still gets the job done to fill your bookshelf with interesting finds.”

“Great place nice and clean and sooo many books to choose from. Only thing i didn't like was that the Starbucks inside didn't accept the giftcard i wanted to use since they are franchise.”

“Visited here last week to check it out after the ownership change a year ago. They carry English manga now too as well as Mandarin. You can stay and read at the store for a fee or rent or buy just like the previous owner. The place is still nice and clean.”

“How lucky are we to live in CA which has some of the best schools in the world. Cal Tech is one of the best of the best! Did you know that Einstein taught here and you can still see the house that he lived in?? I was here for a tour and loved every minute. How I wish I had this appreciation for education when I was in college. ;-)”

“I love this store! I could spend hours perusing everything they have for sale. So unique and creative! Plus, it's connected to the La Luz de Jesus art gallery, that's always a treat. Short drive from the Griffith Observatory!”
