Great place to relax and switch up from the busy LA. Part of it is closed because of work happening but can still walk half of it.Restrooms: Have restrooms at the beginning and the end of it.

It's fine, enjoyable to walk around and all. But it is SUCH a beast to get in that I have a hard time saying it is worth it. First, it is only open for late morning and early afternoon on weekdays. Second, you've got to be able to make a reservation online only a few days ahead of time. Third, you've got to just be aware of the fact that the very imposing gate at the front entrance will LOOK locked but won't be and a guard you can't see will come out and open it once you drive up and wait right in front of it (with no signs telling you to do this). The entire process seems purposefully designed to DISCOURAGE anyone who doesn't already regularly go from ever going for their first visit. It's like they've done everything possible to make it as exclusive as possible while still being able to say it is free and open to all.

A hidden gem in the valleys! reservations can be made online but make sure you pick a day ahead of time because they get booked pretty fast. There’s plenty of parking space in front of the Japanese garden entrance. You have to show the security by the gate your reservation to gain access. I’ll be coming back again to see the two houses that are currently closed for reconstruction.Restrooms: Restrooms are inside of the garden by the construction site. There will be a sign that points to the restrooms

Such a lovely, calming place. Prepare to be amazed and be absorbed in nature. The sights are beautiful. The atmosphere and sounds are really inviting (except for the planes flying above). I went to the gardens in the morning from 9:30am to 12pm. We were about five people walking around the gardens. It was so peaceful and nurturing. The weather was perfect... except that at the time, some sections of the garden were closed off due to ongoing construction work. Other than that, it was rewarding. I am happy I went.

Beautiful & serene place to visit. All themes of this property are well thought out and manicures to resemble what they represent. My kids absolutely loved it! I'd visit again.... Just not in the middle of summer.

Nothing beats a trip to a slice of paradise practically in your own backyard! The Japanese Garden is a lush garden filled with amazing architecture, design, wildlife and tranquility. I've been fortunate enough to stroll through a few times over the last decade or so as a LA Valley/San Fernando Valley resident.Located in the heart of SFV inside Woodley Park near Woodley Avenue / Victor Blvd closeby the Woodley Park Metro G - Orange Line Station. It's Open Monday - Thursday 9:30 AM -12 PM and 1PM 3:30 PM. I recommend going during the morning before Noon or for the last hour in the summer and bringing plenty of water. The do require reservations for the garden, but admission is completely complimentary (as free as the parking). Love taking in the beautiful plants, trees, bamboo, streaming water, birds (herons, ducks, misc others) and koi fish.If you looked up hidden gems on Wikipedia I feel The Japanese Garden of San Fernando Valley should be at the very top of the images shown.Everything is well preserved and kept up. Perfect place to reflect, meditate, draw, or just enjoy. Good date spot and perfect mini staycation vacation spot #TravelLikeALocalQ Tip:Use the bathroom before enter the garden or you'll be waiting until you're done with your stroll for sure. Learned this the hard way my very first trip here lol but I was hydrated if nothing else.

Parking: free with entryEntry: free and by reservation only.Better than expected! Not the greatest Japanese garden in California but definitely top 10, would rank maybe 4 or 5!When you first go in the garden you get hit by a strong waft or chemical and it looks very plain but the back of the garden is great and very well done! Water is clear, tons of different types of birds, more than I have seen next door at the Lake Balboa.Highly recommend

I have wanted to visit the Japanese Garden for a long time but they were closed during Covid and then it's been so hard to reserve a slot as they get filled easily. Their opening times/days aren't great for people who work in-person but I was finally able to snag a slot to visit with a friend. The place was very official with security at the entrance and walking around the whole garden. There were beautiful birds, plants, pagodas, a waterfall and fish (& parking was great). Cons are that it's so hard to visit, it smells bad, no food or drinks are allowed even though there are beautiful picnic spots and there were a lot of small planes flying overhead during the day. I would recommend a visit as it's nice to walk around a garden oasis in the middle of a busy city but I was a bit disappointed.
