“I cannot say enough amazing things about Sylvia at Alterations Avenue! My wedding dress looks absolutely incredible thanks to her work. I had a very intricate, all-lace gown that needed difficult adjustments, and she was extremely detailed in finding the best solutions to make it fit perfectly.

Sylvia took the time to really study the dress and explain what was possible, and every suggestion she made was thoughtful and precise. We communicated back and forth throughout the process, and she was always responsive and reassuring. I could truly tell she cared about making my dress perfect for my big day.

Even with the challenges of lace, she went above and beyond to make sure every detail was flawless. The end result was beyond my expectations—it fit like a dream and made me feel so confident and beautiful. She truly made all my wedding dress dreams come true!

“I came in alone on a whim to just get a feel for what style would be for me before my “official” dress shopping with friends and family. I came around 11:30 on Friday and was pleasantly the only one in the shop. I let them know my budget was $2,000 and described the style I was most interested in.
Grace was wonderful and took care of me! I picked out a few dresses I was interested in and while I found a few I liked, I ultimately was about to give up, but Grace said she had one more she wanted me to try. Well, it was the one. She brought it from the back and I fell in love.
The dress was &1,999 and Grace confirmed I was ok with going over $2,000 with taxes and then alterations next time. I really appreciated that since it’s normally not asked when you buy anything - they only mention the sticker price.
Ultimately I said YES! Grace gave me the card of a seamstress they used to have in house, but I’m going with my own seamstress (though I don’t doubt the recommended one is fabulous).

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Grace. She asked me questions and chatted to make me feel comfortable, knowing I was doing something outside of my comfort zone. AND she is the one that found me my dress.

Shopping for the mother of the bride dress, in a specific color palette for a Mexican destination wedding was a nightmare! I ordered so many dresses online and went all around the Bay Area and every little boutique sympathized with me, and the large stores had gowns that were OK, but I wanted a lot more than OK!

Lea worked with me to find the dress that made me feel good, look elegant, be comfortable, in the right fabric, and the perfect color. She also recommended the shawl covering. She made shoe and undergarment suggestions, and helped me to accessorize! With so many other things to consider it was such a relief to know that my dress was completely taken care !”

“Suzanne and the Atelier des Modistes team did a spectacular job with my custom wedding gown. I loved it so much I didn’t want to take it off at the end of the evening! Suzanne has very high standards for fabric and construction – importing her fabric from reputable mills in Europe and constructing each piece in-house instead of ordering from offshore manufacturers. I appreciated these decisions as I reviewed other custom options. Suzanne’s dresses stand out in quality and design, while remaining fairly priced. Since my gown was fully custom, it required multiple rounds of adjustment. Suzanne accepted my feedback with grace and professionalism, making sure the final dress met both of our visions. I hope to have the opportunity to commission another gown from Atelier des Modistes in the future.”
