Will try to rent cars that they don't have, then you have to call customer service to get a refund.

This place is the worst. I had to return my car, and it took 30 minutes of standing in a line just to do so. I almost missed my flight as a result. Their systems are so antiquated it takes 15 minutes for each customer to check out. The one guy who works there is great, but it's impossible for him to service all of the customers quickly enough.

Was cancelled on by another company, booked with Avis at a different location for a reasonable price then they cancelled. I called Avis and they switched my location refusing to honor that same price. Also didn't help me get from the location that refused to honor that reservation to this location. Then I arrived and they gave me a run around for showing insurance and liability coverage. He didn't tell me which one I needed. He first insisted I needed insurance AND liability, which I assured him I had insurance through my CC. He said he needed proof and that I should pay the extra $$ a day for their coverage. I said I don't want insurance coverage and I had insurance coverage. Despite not actually needing to see it because, again, that portion is optional in CA, he insisted I prove that I had it saying again that I NEEDED to have it. I had to find wifi near by to download my insurance policy which took forever. When I showed it then he said he needed to see that I had liability coverage. That's the one I actually needed to prove that I had apparently, but half an hour later I had only proven that I had insurance, which I did not need to have let alone prove that I had. Turns out liability is required. Likely wanted to make the extra sale on the insurance and wasted my time. I then had to go back to the wifi to get my liability coverage to show him at which point, an hour later, after getting cancelled on twice and having to commute an hour by transit to this location, he conceded.I get wanting to make a sale, I'm sure Avis provides commission for trying to sell you insurance you don't need, but instead of wasting my time, your time, and everyone's time, tell me what you need me to show you and what proof you need. This industry is wildly unregulated and all Avis has to do is make their policy clear at time of reservation.

I have been using this, AVIS location for many months now to rent my vehicle for Uber. On multiple occasions I have called at least 10 to 15 times during business hours throughout the day and get no answer. They completely ignore the phone and say that they are to busy to answer. I have actually stood outside where they cannot see me and watch them talk with each other, while I call them. They just ignore the calls. This is extremely unprofessional and very frustrating. I use the car for business every day and they are treating it like a game or just don’t care. Another thing that is very frustrating… when I do call and the local branch doesn’t answer, it transfers to the main number and no one can help me because I rent a car for Uber. They just simply tell me to call the place where I rented it from who never answer the phone. What a horrible way to do business.Location I rent from below:700 W 7th StreetLos Angeles CA 90017United States

WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!!!I arrived on time after having a scheduled booking in place for 3 months, to be greeted by a disrespectful, lazy front desk staff member named Ray who proceeds to rudely tell me they have no inventory and that I need to call customer service. I arrived the day after my wedding, renting a car that was taking my wife and I to our honeymoon!Ray was disrespectful, showed zero compassion or empathy and basically told me to get lost. The venue was a mess and both staff members were lazy and rude.AVIS/BUDGET - please do better and teach your employees a lesson. Ray was horrendous and I would never rent or a recommend this location to anyone!

Warning! Do not go here. Avoid at all costs. This place is horrible--the worst experience with customer service I have ever had. Showed up for a pre-paid car only to be informed they had none available. They claimed it was my fault because they had tried to leave me a voice mail the day before but my box was full (email? texts? Hello??). This, in spite of the fact that I got an email from Avis that morning confirming that my car would be ready. No apology, no assistance, no help. Honestly acted like they got pleasure out of screwing over customers. If AvIs cared at all about customer service, it would shutter this franchise immediately and fire the workers there. Worst experience I've ever had, not just with a rental car company but in the service industry. Absolutely awful.

HOW TO RETURN CAR AT THIS LOCATION: Go down hope street and enter hotel Valet (pictured). If you enter the mall parking, just go up and take a ticket and exit (they won't charge you) and then go back down and keep turning left once you hit the ground floor until you enter the valet area and that's where you return it.LA COUNTY NEEDS TO SHUT THIS LOCATION DOWN. Impossible to find, rude staff, and dirty inhumane conditions.

Rented a car from LAS and had the return set to this location. We had a lot of trouble finding exactly where to return it. Absolutely no signs around the entire block or on any of the garage entrances that we saw. We finally found something online that told us to go into The Bloc garage to level 5H. We went up to level 5 and no 5H section exists, no one was answering the intercom at the garage exits so we ended up parking on that level and finding the Avis/Budget counter. We were directed to the counter (would not have found where it was without help) and the employees there told us we needed to bring the car to where they were. We told them there were no signs showing us where the rental returns were and their response was that the homeless took all the signs. Perhaps it would be a good idea to put up the signs again after they're taken down or invest in signage that isn't as easily taken away?Since we'd parked in the main garage, we had to pay to get out. When we asked the employees about this, they said to call through the intercom. We'd already tried that earlier with no one answering so we told the employees this and they repeatedly tried to assure us that "they will respond" and that "it's their job" despite us experiencing otherwise. I suggest that this rental location work out something with The Bloc garage for anyone who runs into this problem (which is likely a common issue considering the lack of signs and wrong instructions), maybe a one time ticket pass that lets people out of the garage. We went back to the garage and unsurprisingly, no one answered the intercom in the 5+ times we rang it. In the end we found the bloc parking office number and ended up having to wait around 30 minutes for a Bloc garage worker to come let us out. It was getting to the time when the rental was due so I tried to call this location to give them a heads up that we were in the building but waiting for someone to let us out of the garage - unsurprisingly, no one answered the phone. The entire process took almost 2 hours from us arriving at the address to finally getting the rental receipt.

I remember back in the day, renting a car from Avis was like renting from the Four Seasons of hotels. It was very prestigious. Service was excellent. Employees were courteous, knowledgeable and overextended themselves to make sure you were happy. But now, renting from this particular location feels like renting from the roach motel in the red light district. Which really is an insult to roach motels everywhere.I wish they would sell this location to new owners, who knows how to treat customers well and take care of their vehicles. They NEVER answer their phones at this location. If you have an issue with a vehicle and need to switch it, or you just have a quick question, you have to drive all the way there and ask in person. When you get there, 95% of the time there are no customers there. There is no line. Not a soul! So you can't blame it on long customer lines.Employees are not courteous and semi-literate. I've been there several times and the interaction I've had with them was just atrocious. Not every time, but many. I remain appalled at the way they treat customers. I once had an incident where there was a big price difference with the insurance. I couldn't understand why and when I asked for an explanation, the employee wasn't explaining it in a way that made sense. I pride myself on being a very intelligent, educated person, so I am fairly confident that it wasn't my ability to discern common sense info. However, this employee who usually communicates in a mumbling tone of voice, got frustrated because I couldn't understand, so his response to my query was to remove the insurance from my contract which I did not ask him to do. He visibly got upset and said, and I quote, "I'm just going to take the insurance off" and he did. I had to ask him to kindly put it back on. I was simply trying to understand why the rate was much higher than usual. And let me express that I was extremely polite. Never raised my voice. Was never demeaning or insulting in any way whatsoever. I was only confused. This is just one in many unpleasant incidents. As you may see from the response below from the Avis rep, I did email them and explained one of the bad experiences. They were apologetic gave me 3 free comp days of rental and the next time that I called that location they actually picked up the phone. But shortly thereafter, everything went right back to being horrible. They stopped answering their phones again.I used to keep going back there because the location was just convenient. I have since found a better location and the level of service is like night and day. I will never set foot back in this location ever again!!! If I could give them a negative 5 rating I would.

Don’t rent with Avis! After multiple reservations from different locations dtla, Inglewood, Pasadena, only to be told there’s no car available. This location also have bad customer service. I’ve been to dtla location multiple times with Uber rental reservation only to be told there’s no car, I asked them for direct number so I can call to ask if there’s car, only to be given the Avis regular customer number. Then the person on the phone also gave me a different location number then the person there gave me another number only to be sent back to regular Avis customer service and not the actual Avis location. I never got the number to the location. I’ve called Avis customer service to follow up, they just reiterate my reservation detail but can’t tell me if there’s any car after explaining to them I’ve been and have reservations at diff locations. I called again for help only to be told that I shouldn’t expect a vehicle to be available even with reservation at specific time and have to wait 24 hours. What is the point of reservation? Even if I wait 24 hours, will there be a car? I’ve spent too much time going back and forth to the location and too much time on the phone for resolution for nothing. Both Uber and Avis provided no resolution.
