Sara from the Los Gatos store was extremely helpful - in co-op with Marie from the NY store. Both were super patient and professional. The shades from the shade store are very big and high quality materials.
I enjoyed the entire process - from measuring, to the in home visit (thanks for coming to my house, Sara) until finally placing my order.
They were the best and took a lot of stress away from me. Don't go with any other companies if you want your house to look good and have a smooth process in choosing your window treatments!

So far we have had a bad experience with the shade store.
1. The design consultant and measurements: took about 10 times going back and forth to get the order and measurements correct. Lots of mistakes. Hopefully the shades end up being correct. I still don’t know.
2. Installation scheduling is horrible. You never know if the installer will show. For me, we scheduled 6-8weeks out and comes the day, no show. We get a call after the appt window to tell they couldn’t make it and reschedule for the next available slot, 2-3 weeks out. No priority given to me to schedule the next day or even a few days out as I would expect. The scheduled slot 2-3 weeks away is the same arrival window in the afternoon. Who knows if they’ll show. For the price I paid of $18000 for a few shades, you would think the service would be first class.
I would recommend going somewhere else.

Well, someone responded and said they would help. I emailed them and they haven’t got back to me.
—-update 6/24/25
Finally someone contacted me and is working to schedule my install this week. I find out tomorrow if it happens. Also offered me a credit compensation. Will see as of tomorrow. If they in fact complete it this week, then I can move to 3 stars.
Update 6/26/25 - they sent someone this morning and they finished the job. The installer was fantastic. The shades look great. I would have preferred not to have to escalate in reviews.

We love our Shades from Shade store. We have it installed in our family room. We have 2 large windows and 1 big sliding French door. We worked with Sara Morris from Los Gatos store. She was absolutely fantastic to work with. Truly Customer First attitude and made sure we were happy with our installation. Our first install after a few years had some issues, no questions asked Sara was able to work with management to get the whole install comped and refresh our shades at no cost. Excellent Customer Service!!!

Update: after my review, Yareidy reached out to me from their client services team. I’m guessing this is the escalation team for client support. Yareidy was great, she ordered new hardware and had them expressly delivered, she scheduled the installation. All went well after she took over. I would give her 5 star for her service. With the overall experience, I’m upgrading it to 3 stars as an average.
Original: It’s being a very disappointing and frustrating experience with the shade store. Before I made the purchase, everything was smooth. The measurement was taken quickly and efficiently, Mary our SA was responsive. When I asked about when the installation would happen, she responded “shortly after the shipment”. All good so far.
Now after I made the purchase, then things started to fall apart. When scheduling the installation, the earliest I could schedule was three months out, far cry from “shortly after shipment”. Called the Mary, after multiple emails, “nothing earlier” was the response.
Installation day #1 comes, I took time off from work to be home for the installation. Got a call from store that morning, they can’t do install today since the pro called in sick. Frustrated, rescheduled for the following week, pro showed up only to find out the brackets shipped was the wrong size and they couldn’t do the install. Are you serious? Now almost four months later, I still don’t have the shade. And Mary is not returning my phone call, so much for customer service, I’m beyond frustrated with them.

Sara Morris at Shade Store Los Gatos was so helpful and kind! She responded quickly to all my email questions. She was very patient with me and listened carefully to what I wanted. I bought roller shades and draperies for my condo.
Jake installed my roller shades and draperies! He left the place clean and did a great job. I also appreciated his upbeat personality.

Update (06/18/24):
I was assigned to different customer service rep and they went above and beyond to get the shade fixed.
Would've been 5 stars if my initial email got traction (before I emailed an exec) and also because 2 shades broke in about 5 months.

This review is for shade store products in general, not the physical location or the people - they were very professional! This is the store closest to us to I'm leaving a review here.
I really don't recommend their products. The quality is very bad. Even with the warranty, it's not worth the hassle. We paid more than double the price of a mom and pop shop! We have much less expensive shades at our other home with a lot of traffic, it cost us about 1/3 and we've never had issues!
We got cellular shades for our new home and in just 4 months, one of them broke. Customer service came home to pick up the broken shade and shipped it to a service location. It takes weeks for it to be repaired and shipped. In the mean time, we had no privacy in a child's room facing the street, not to mention he wakes up at sunrise around 5:30am.
The paper that they affixed as a temp solution lasted about 2 hours!
There have been issues with scheduling, and poor installation as well. Another shade in another room is starting to break down.
I do not recommend shade store products.

We worked with Sarah at The Shade Store in Los Gatos. She was patient and super helpful in helping us choose the shades, hardware and method of installation. The person who measured was respectful, nice and professional. He took measurements of all types along with pictures so we could make design decisions with Sarah. It worked very well. The installation team, Victor and Angel, were also terrific. The did a great job, were professional, respectful and super nice. We could not be happier with each phase of the project!

This is a warning to everyone. I regret being a customer of the Shade Store. First, they made a mistake of installing the track. I told them I wanted a ripple fold but the recessed track installed was not designed for a ripple fold. It was too late when it was found out. The dry wall has been installed. So we had to go with a design style that wasn't our first choice. Then the second issue is that they had to reschedule the installation. Had to wait for 2 months for the initial schedule installation and now I'm being bumped. It feels like I'm being penalized for being a customer. This feels like adding salt to a wound. I wished I went with someone else knowing the amount of money we have to pay. If you're going with them, please double check everything including the tracks they will install. I hope you don't get the same experience as we did.

I purchased roman shades, wood blinds and drapes for my home. Mary Sue was the BEST from start to finish and was a great source of information. She helped me choose the most beautiful fabrics with the appropriate linings and controls. I will most definitely be seeing her again!

Mary Sue Lipari helped us out with shades selection and gave us a good overview about all the different kinds of shades with pros and cons. She was very professional throughout until the shades got installed. We're happy with the final product ( cellular shades ) and it looks beautiful. The entire experience was very pleasant and smooth.
