“Really excellent and honest shop. So I decided to change the belt tensioner and serpentine belt myself on my 991.1 as a weekend DIY project. Unfortunately while I was trying to torque the bolts to spec with my torque wrench, I stripped the belt tensioner mount completely! Knowing that I messed up pretty royally, I called August. He had always helped me in the past. He got me in right away even though he had a completely full schedule because it wasn't really safe to drive my car and I don't have another car. He worked on my car in between his other commitments and put a Time Sert in to the mount so that it would be stronger than before. He even made me feel better about things by telling me things like this happen all the time (although I doubt it happens to specialist mechanics like him....). While he had the engine exposed we decided to do a lot of preventative maintenance on this 12 yr old car. Things that are known to fail like the changing out the water pump, crankcase hoses, and all the change-over valves (one of mine had already failed earlier this year). I feel like I saved a few thousand dollars in future cost if I had waited for the parts to fatigue or fail. Now I am pretty much good other than routine maintenance for another 10 yrs. Thanks August for helping me turn a rookie mistake into a win for this car! Pic of my car when I took it apart included. Now put back together.”
