It was great knowing the history of this temple. There is a mini priest room adjacent to the temple. No one actually lives there. There was a volunteer inside the temple to answer any questions you may have. You are allowed to wear shoes inside the temple if you are curious to know. We had left ours outside, so volunteer inside clarified to us. Its free to definitely recommend to visit if you are in the area. Good to know some historical facts

Beautifully restored important history of Mendocino. Docent was wonderful with lots of knowledge of Chinese history in California. It is only open a few days a month so be sure to check the schedule.

A true jewel of Mendocino -- a well preserved piece of Chinese American history tucked away in a gorgeous seaside town. We met the Temple's curator who gave us a 30 minute talk on the space her ancestors and their community built in the 1800s. This is a lovingly cared for historic site that helped deepen our understanding of Asian Americans' profound impact on the shaping of our country's culture. I highly recommend a visit to this incredible site.
