“Highly recommend this company and their employees. They genuinely care and are very reputable. Just had my gate lock repaired by them. The gentleman suggested to repair because we had a high quality lock mechanism (which we had purchased from them many years ago). A new replacement would have cost over $300 for the mechanism plus the labor to install. I paid $160 for the repair. Money well spent. He could have just told me to replace it. He was a true artisan...a true locksmith. Sat in his truck and worked on it for quite some time and went back and forth to make sure it was perfect. Now it smoothly opens and closes. Have used them for years and will continue to be loyal to them.”

“I went in looking for a simple, but sturdy plastic board to support the end of a cage that was an inch longer than the end of the counter. Sam made sure I chose the right kind of plastic (I didn't know there was even a difference) to survive what this board would be exposed to (bleach, cleansers). Well, the board is perfect and thank you, Sam, for suggesting one corner be rounded. I could not think of anything I would have done differently. It's perfect.”

After going to 3 other stores to try and find what I needed, each of which had terrible customer service where the employees didn't give a $hit, I was stoked to find that this place had someone who actually cared. In fact, it took more than a couple tries to find exactly what I needed, & Richard was more than willing to help. To the owners: thanks for being here, having such a huge inventory, & for hiring people who treat your customers with respect! I will definitely be back!! To my fellow Yelp'ers: THIS should be your first stop. Forget big box names & go here. “I was dealing with a small job but challenging color matching project, and after numerous trips to no less than 3 paint stores, I finally resolved the problem with help from Shan Damani at Dunn Edwards in San Rafael. He went above and beyond to get me the perfect color and since we discovered we were almost neighbors, he even delivered my gallon of paint to me. Service like this is rare these days. Rarely do I post reviews, but I had to say something about this store and their awesome manager, Shan.”

“Having had lived in San Francisco is my younger years, I never thought of paying a visit to this spot until some friends wanted to stop by. And I'm glad I did, because this is a pretty cool store. Walking in, you'll feel like you're taken aback in time and into one of those classic hardware stores, feeling like you're in an era when your parents or grandparents may have operated this shop. There's a street level and basement level for goods, and most of the items will be in the basement. Once there, you'll find lots of tea sets, ceramic plates, knives collections, traditional Japanese banners, and so on. Really random stuff here. It's not like an ACE hardware store, but lighter home hardware that you wouldn't find elsewhere. Worth a visit if you're in the area. Maybe you'll find something cute for gifts or for yourself.”

Before leaving because I couldn't find what I was looking for I was stopped by a staff and he genuinely asked if I found everything I was looking for. My response was no and I went into detail what I was looking for. Afterward, he told me a relatable story and helped me find what I was looking for and it was much, much cheaper than buying it through Amazon. “Everyone is super nice and knowledgeable here, and the prices are so reasonable! I'm super shy but everyone here put me at ease. I was looking to create a fish tank cover with cutouts for my filter etc and Junior turned out also to be an aquarium enthusiast! I didn't come in with questions, but he educated me on the thickness of the acrylic meant to go under LED lights and heated water, whether or not it'll bow over time, how much light will pass through to my plants, and so on! He's so nice and patient, and made sure that my cover was the perfect dimensions. The cutouts are an additional $5 for each in addition to the price of the rectangular acrylic and the entire custom piece came out much cheaper than the pet shop.In addition, Edgar and one other person (sorry, I forgot his name!) helped answer questions about other pieces in the store and their customization. The plastic containers = food safe, great for use as travel bottles, and basically wholesale price--how could you beat that?”

“How do they squish so many things in there. The aisles are narrow. I'm afraid that person who sues stores for not having handicapped space might come in here. They have a "variety" (understatement). You want something, they must have it. They are part of ACE hardware store. Their kitchen ware is two doors down. Everything you need in the kitchen, except the sink.”

“Needed some applewood pellets for my smoker. I called, they told me they stored the pellets away for the season but happy to check to see if they had the applewood. They did and brought up a bag from storage and had it at the counter for me when I came to pick it up. Needed it because I'm making homemade bacon”

I told them I did not know what the hell I was doing and from that point to about 15-minutes later-done. “This was THE BEST customer service today I've had in ALL the Ace hardware stores in Marin! I've lived in Marin for 23 years & have been to every Ace Hardware store in the County - and this was THE BEST customer service I've had in recent memory! Willy was great - I received outstanding service today! I called in advance to ask if someone could please help me with 2 repairs, reached him on the phone, and met him with my projects. I had 2 hoses that burst and needed repaired, which he did expertly, and then a weedwacker that needed parts and cord, he assembled them all for me, checked everything to make sure it worked properly. It was hardware service as hardware service should be! We come there to find something and fix something much of the time! Willy is friendly, a supervisor there, and although young - he really knows his stuff (learned from his grandpa we spoke of!) he is smart, bright, a good learner, and/or will look to learn up on topics to answer questions if needed. Problems solved today, yay! I spent the whole rest of the day getting everything done that I needed to after those 3 items got fixed and running again! Thank you!”

“Went to this local shops for my home project, bought some cast iron fittings and pipes. Cast iron fitting are in good prices within inflation ranges (compares to big shop like home depot, they charge like crazy!). Pipes both have imported and USA to suit your need, I pick up the imported one, quite a budget choice compare to USA version, first glance, decent quality. They have lots of copper pipe and fittings too, seems like a handy place for our nearby neighborhood. Inflation killed a lots of small business, price got up like crazy everywhere. I try to support these small business as I can, comparing to big chain merchants like Home Depot they do not care price hiking.”

“From 1992 to 1995, I lived around the block, and I bought lots at Cole Hardware. I moved away in 1995, then returned in 2010. My wife and I have a house about a mile and then a smidge, away from this location. That means, after a fire consumed our neighborhood go-to, Progress Hardware, this business is once again the closest place for tools and sundries. So probably I have had a half dozen keys made there and stopped in a dozen times since the start of the pandemic. It is convenient. The prices are not an outrage. The truth is, for most items, I order online. But sometimes you need to buy whatever it is right that instant, in order to use it. And it is good to have a neighborhood shop such as this. That means we have to patronize it. Their customer service is excellent. They are friendly. It's the sort of business you feel good about having around. I hope enough people continue to shop there that they thrive. We would regret it otherwise. So pick up some nuts and bolts or fertilizer.”

“I don't write a lot of reviews, in fact it's probably been years since my last one, but I have to give a Big Shout Out to Rob Melia and the rest of the staff at Ferguson's in Corte Madera. I had a problem with an order, and Rob could not of been nicer in helping me resolve it. He certainly went above and beyond, going the extra mile to help me. These days when customer service is almost nonexistent, it was refreshing to see it's alive and well at Ferguson's and says a lot about the company. If you need anything to do with plumbing supplies, I'm happy to give my unconditional recommendation to them--you won't be disappointed.”
