West Point Inn is a rustic and welcoming local gem on Mount Tamalpais, accessible by a pleasant hike. The hike to get there can be easy or challenging, depending on the trail chosen, and is dog-friendly. It serves as a beautiful place to rest after a lovely walk, offering absolutely gorgeous panoramic views of the SF Bay Area from its big wrap-around patio. Hummingbirds are frequently seen around the vibrant colored feeders. The Inn has a very rustic feel. It is old, with very small bedrooms, and does not have heating, so guests should bring a sleeping bag or rent linen. The incredibly well-stocked community kitchen is available for preparing meals, complete with cooking accessories and some leftover spices. A snack bar is also available. The volunteer innkeepers and staff are awesome, friendly, and sweethearts, providing vast amounts of useful information. They are very familiar with the numerous trails and can make great recommendations for all types of hikes. They run good operations for events like the wonderful Mother's Day pancake feast, which is lovely despite sometimes having a long wait. The Inn is a place of fond memories and highly recommended for a great time.
Lovely hidden gem literally, because you can only hike up there. Have to bring your own food (and wine) and cook and clean. So relaxing and calm, and charming. The night we were there, someone was playing a piano and I was soking in bathtub, idyllic it was 😀
